I've been thinking quietly, after reading the "Opposing Honors Quests" thread. I'm of the personal opinion that influencing in Shanthmark for people who've done the Lodge quest should go much easier - and people who've done the Paavik quest, much harder. And visa-versa. People who've helped the Star-crossed Lovers in Delport would find a harder time in Stewartsville, whilst those whom have solved the murders in Stewarts would find it hard to influence in Delport. The same goes with the Slave Masters of Angkrag in Dairuchi, Rockholm, and Southgard - as would a Rock Shepherd in Angkrag, or anyone who's crowned the Thane king in Southgard, or Ethilwen queen in Rockholm.
I just believe it would make far more sense - if you are notorious for raising a new chief in Acknor, what Furrikin wants to listen? And, if you've helped their sick cubs, wouldn't it make sense they'd be more willing to listen to you?
This in no way is suggested to prevent people from doing both - in fact, if you did both, I think it should even out, but be slightly more difficult in both villages than it is now. I mean, you've helped their enemy - even if you did help them.

Rather than that.. why not have it affect current loyalties? If you're a Serenwilder and they currently control Estelbar then it should be much more difficult to affect the opposing village through influencing (on an off season, of course).
However, I don't agree with the honours quest. Though you could make it impossible to complete the quest with the opposing village in your city/commune's control (Which would in turn make the quest more available to those in that commune/city), but I'm inclined to believe that since the village is in trouble they're going to abuse your help (and ignorance) whether you're opposing them or not. After all in the end you're the one assisting them and who's going to turn down help?

Even when the village isn't in play? Sorry, I haven't really checked in on things.

If Celest has Delport, it's very hard for them to get Stewarts. Is that what you mean?

I like this idea. Those with a past history of being helpful to a village would be known to people in that village, and should get a bonus when trying to influence members of that village to follow his commune. However, I don't think the penalty for helping the other village should be that great.

Well, I guess my logic is this:
If they're raising new chiefs in Acknor, which means they're very active there, are you really, as a furrikin in Estelbar, wanting to follow them?

It doesn't really actually require being active in Acknor to raise a new chief. The quest can be figured out and done in under a day, and you might never go back, while spending many more hours in Estelbar playing with the cute little cubs.

I always thought it'd be cool if denizens remembered who had done things for them and at least smiled at them or something. Like (not to single myself out) if Ciarrus recognized me. Similarly, loyal mobs should recognize the leaders of their organizations: for instance, Miakoda should smile or curtsey or something to members of the Moonhart Circle when they come into the room. (I actually programmed a denizen in Aetolia to do that one.) Of course, the guards do things somewhat like this, though only based on citizenship, not position.

Um no, Miakoda should definitely not bow to members of the Moonhart Circle. Maybe be a little less grumpy towards them, yes
But aye, more interaction would be awesome. Guards and security personell, avatars / wise elders and leadership, guild tutors and guild representatives...
Denizens and loyal citizens
