I've been reading through my newest Game Informer magazine, and they're showing all the next-gen consoles, and showcasing many of the new games.
The PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Revolution, and Game Boy mini all look amazing, and the first three have massive potential.
I'm definately looking forward to the games (especially The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion), and even though I was a hardcore nintendo fan (until about a year after PS2 had been released), and now I'm a big Sony fan, I think I'm going to get an Xbox. If anyone has seen the specs for these systems, they're great. The PS2 has a new cell processor that's supposed to give Xbox a run for it's money, and the Xbox is supposed to act like a mini computer almost.
Comments from anyone? Did anyone go to E3 besides Daganev? Anyone not able to wait until they come out? Does anyone think that Bill Gate's (denied by Bungee) claim that Halo 3 will come out on the day the PS3 does is pure evil??

I tend to believe Microsoft in the gaming field is pure evil, so I'll leave that one alone.
I, for one, am waiting anxiously for both the Nintendo Revolution and PS3. I will, knowing my weak willpower, succumb to the Xbox 360 and actually buy it - I have adamantly been against the Xbox, I've never even played it. (Yes, unlike my friends, I have not played Halo - although I've watched them do it many a time.)
I tend to be loyal to my roots, which go back to Legend of Zelda, Harvest Moon, and Super Mario. Yea, I know - NES is lame. But, it is still the awesomeness it once was. I'll never abandon my Nintendo system!

I'm all for the Xbox 360 myself, I think the Nintendo Revolution is going to be a flop just like the GameCube, and the PS3 is going to be just like the PS2 - fine for the occasional game, but crappy multiplayer support, no really deep and interesting games and overall just that little bit inferior to the Xbox.

Wow, Fain, that footage must be too awesome for my computer to handle, because it crashed when I clicked the link!

Mine claims it requires Satan's Video Player (IE: Quicktime). So I'll watch it when I'm on someone else's computer.

Aye, I'm looking forward to Elder Scrolls IV as well, when I started playing Morrowind and later it's 2 expansions I was amazed it's just the sort of game that you can play over and over and over again from all differant angles and the realism and shear vastness of the world is amazing. E3, i assume you mean Star Wars RotS, yes I saw it at the Midnight showing as soon as it came out, and even stood in line before hand for 6-7 hours.
Edit: I was also blown away by the fact that in Morrowind Using your skills increases your lvl, I've never play any other game with sutch a unquie Experiance system. (for those of you who don't know or havn't played, essentually practicing your skills will improve them, so I could stand in the Mages guild hall in my own private room casting a Destruction spell untill it improved enough so that i was ready to go out and kill some things)

Those PS3 E3 Vid's were filmed at 5 frames a minute, and sped up after.
But yea, I've been following Oblivion since it was announced.
I want to spar skeletons, complete control, sword and shield / sword.
Actually, I'll prolly end up using a big off pole, with a sharp doobie on the end.

I went and found a pile of NPCs and let them beat on me until all my light armour broke, just for the skillpoints.

Revolution...a flop? HA, Super smash brothers online is going to rake in millions upon millions. Its going to dominate all other online games as far as I am concerned(Aside from Lusternia ). I think the problem with gamecube is its too childish looking, they focused too much on childish games and cell shading instead of the blood and gore possibilities(Resident Evil 4). Besides the new Zelda is going to be ground breaking.
X-Box 360 is going to be expensive and require too many things to run it really, if I don't get a revolution I am going for the PS3. Its controller sucks but oh well.

I'm just going to stick with my good old PC. So much more use than buying gaming system after gaming system, good variety of games, and does other stuff too. Yay PC!

Pish posh. Xbox has a handful of really good games and the rest are just babyish cartoon stories that are all the same as eachother!
*breath*
Reminds me so much of highschool, I feel better now.

I can't wait for Oblivion too. Unfortunately, I'm not even sure if I'll be able to play it as I don't know if I'll have money for PC upgrade.
Morrowind was great but it was becoming boring in later parts of the game. And I didn't really like the skills system. Yes, it was quite original, but it required planning and powergaming to develop it just like you wanted. Especially when you wanted to get the most of the attributes.
Hmm, I think I'm gonna play it again this summer, with both expansions this time... too bad I can't use that startup kit improving graphics (PC's too old and weak. Stupid piece of junk. )

Yeah, I was a diehard Nintendo fan, got the NES when it first came out, Super Nintendo, but then I switched to PS2 for the RPG's. Ultimately despite the great additions to the Xbox rpg line, it still can't match the sheer depth of the playstation lineup. I'll wait till the releases are closer before I decide on which console I buy, but I always limit myself to one per generation.

Er, what? You're calling the Gamecube a flop, and then say you think the Revolution will be a flop based on what you know so far, which really isn't much?
I'd love to get into this, but arguing online really sucks testicles and I am too lazy to write long paragraphs explaining my absolutely terrifically unarguable points of view, so if you disagree I will ignore you! Because I am right.
That said, the bastards at Nintendo need to release information on their controller and their uber super mega backwards console compatability. I don't really care much about the other two. Not as much anyway. I already have a fridge and a decent boomerang, and Xbox 360 is just blarrgh. It is good that the button on the controller actually does something now, I do like that. Did anyone see that episode of the Screensavers where they modified the original controller so that that enormous EEEKKKKBAAAWKKKSS button turned the system on and off? Teehee. I didn't, but I heard about it.

I'll grab my brothers' XBox and PS2 when they upgrade, and buy the new systems when I have the money (in 3+ years).
Hopefully that's when I've begun my career at $50k a year out of college.
$14k a year as a deli slicer ain't cuttin' it. Pun unintended.

I have an X-Box, a Chipped X-Box, a PS2, a Slim-Line PS2, a gamecube, N64, and a Mega Drive. So, yea, that one per gen rule doesn't quite work for me Raezon.

I NEED xbox 360. Now. And Halo 3 for my xbox live addiction. Thinking about the next xbox makes me twitchy inside, and I'm praying it gets microsoft's stock out of the nothingness its been stuck in for years *kick uselessness*. I recently got one of my xbox magizines which gave oodles of info on it. While most of it doesn't really mean much to me (I know little about hardware), the magizine kindly put a lot of things into terms I could understand. For example, the processing power of 360 is going to be about 80 times that of the first xbox, or something like that. I'll probably end up contributing a few hundred bucks, and getting 360 for Christmas from the parents, because, while I have the money, it takes me a long time to get it (get about $80 a week). Oblivion does look cool (and pretty ), but I never really got into Morrowind. I started playing it when my first xbox fizzled and started crashing a lot, so that kind of detered me, and I never really got in to it much after I got a new xbox. The combat wasn't really fun either. The stabstabstabstabstab ohcrapthatthinghasfireballs runrunrunrunrun findsomethingelse stabstabstab didn't really appeal to me. The game was pretty sloppy too, its kind of weird seeing heads peeping through the bottom of bridges, or arms sticking through doors, or shadows showing through buildings.

Honestly, I'm definitely buying a Revolution just for Metroid and Zelda, same reason I bought I Gamecube. And then I'll just pick Revolution versions of multi-platform games to round out my collection, as I did with Gamecube.
My interest in playstation at this point is mainly playing the PS1 games I'm backed up on getting through, and Xbox has only ever interested me with Halo, and it's not quite worth it without springing for Live.

I don't think it's true that the Xbox only has a few good games, though even if it is, those few can entertain you for a long, long time.
Fable
Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
Jade Empire
Brothers in Arms
Psychonauts (it may be childish but I loved this game)
GTA: San Andreas
Both Prince of Persias
All three Splinter Cells
Ninja Gaiden A.K.A. THE HARDEST GAME EVER
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
BloodRayne (the storyline was awful and yet it was so much fun)
Spiderman 2 (not the most revolutionary game ever, but I could spend hours swinging around New York messing around, and isn't that all a game really needs to do?)
and of course to finish my list, Halo 1 and 2
To name a few. Never mind the fact that Nintendo has a history of as soon as they bring out their newest console, absolutely dropping anything to do with their old one like a bad habit. Whereas on the other side, Microsoft has already confirmed a bunch more new games for the Xbox past Xbox 360's launch date running through next year.
