Lisaera, the only one of those on that list that I regret not being able to play by not having an xbox is Jade Empire. Any of the others are either on other platforms or don't really interest me.

I don't think it's true that the Xbox only has a few good games, though even if it is, those few can entertain you for a long, long time.

Fable
Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
Jade Empire
Brothers in Arms
Psychonauts (it may be childish but I loved this game)
GTA: San Andreas
Both Prince of Persias
All three Splinter Cells
Ninja Gaiden A.K.A. THE HARDEST GAME EVER
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
BloodRayne (the storyline was awful and yet it was so much fun)
Spiderman 2 (not the most revolutionary game ever, but I could spend hours swinging around New York messing around, and isn't that all a game really needs to do?)
and of course to finish my list, Halo 1 and 2

To name a few. Never mind the fact that Nintendo has a history of as soon as they bring out their newest console, absolutely dropping anything to do with their old one like a bad habit. Whereas on the other side, Microsoft has already confirmed a bunch more new games for the Xbox past Xbox 360's launch date running through next year.

Fable - One Day
Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay - One Day
Jade Empire - 24 hours
Both Prince of Persias - 1 day, combined
Ninja Gaiden A.K.A. THE HARDEST GAME EVER tongue.gif Sif, 3 days but
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (5 days so far, 5th run through atm)
Oh, and KotOR2 is SICK
BloodRayne Storyline was crap, but infinite slo-mo, who can complain?
Halo 1 - One Day (First day, finished Legendary)
Halo 2 - Normal One Day, Legendary, 2-3 weeks, playing every day or second day, Co-Op.

But I concur. Fun fun games.

Lisaera2005-07-08 11:00:32
This seems to me more a pattern in you than in games.
Nayl2005-07-08 11:04:54
Oh? What would this mysterious pattern be? Besides me being a chronic gamer,
Or was that Your point?
Lisaera2005-07-08 11:13:53
Yes, it seems to me all the evidence points to a little Nayl spending 20 hours straight in front of the TV, clutching an xbox controller with no intention of taking a longer break than it takes to blink the oxidation out of her eyes until she has finished whatever game it is that is slowly melting inside the console due to the excessive heat generated by being read faster than is natural.

I'll probably go for the PS3 just cause of the Final Fantasy series happy.gif. Provided they aren't pure-online pay like FF11 and aren't pure crap like FFX-2 dry.gif.

X-2 wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

But what I hear about the battle system in FFXII makes me think it might be the first FF besides 11 that I'll skip.

Omg, X-2 was WORSE than I thought it would be. >_<

(What about the FF12 battle system, huh?)

PS3 here. FF series, DMC, et al. Mmhm. Good stuff.

Fable was majorly dissapointing in its shortness, even though I found the fighting to be really fun. Even I beat it, and I rarely have the attention span to beat games. Fable must have taken what, 10 hours, and I spent a lot of time kicking chickens and doing other pointless things. To put it into perspective, Halo 2 is one of my favorite games ever, and I had the game for months before I beat it. And a friend bought KOTOR over half a year after me, and finished it within a week, and she's not really a hard-core game player. I STILL haven't finished it. To me, it was worth having the xbox just for Halo 2, and having it on xbox live (gamer tag is krazydakman, pm if you want to play me sometime tongue.gif). And didn't microsoft have some deal with the final fantasy creator for 360?
Navaryn2005-07-09 00:35:17
I guess i'll go with Xbox 360 too. Xbox games are just much more appealing to me than Nintendo's and Playstation's. I'm looking forward to what RPGs are gonna come out on Xobx 360.

More like 15 hours but yeah, it was really too short and lacked replayability(sp?) but I still wasted my time playing it again and again smile.gif

I hope not. As far as i'm concerned, after FF6, FF games were pretty much all subpar or a downright failure.

noway.gif Dude, FF6 was good, but you missed the best ones.

And FF4 sucked, despite what everyone says.
Unknown2005-07-09 01:10:44
sad.gif It keeps freezing for me. Not fair unsure.gif
Acrune2005-07-09 01:33:15
Yeah, I played Fable as good, beat it, tried it as evil, but I just killed everything, and I got strong too quick, and it got really boring. I really want to get back into Morrowind again. Well, try to get into it again. But I need to play lusternia, halo 2, and kotor (so that friend would stop making fun of me for not beating it yet), so I dunno when I'll have time tongue.gif

I've heard FF12 is going to have a real time battle system, like in Star Ocean, where the AI controls your other characters. Much as I like Star Ocean, I HATE that battle system.

Somewhat, but it's a bit more than that. Square wouldn't steal something (Enix wasn't always with 'em) and not make it much better for their trademark series. I'll try to find a link with more information on it though.

Moreso on topic: Definitely getting a PS3 and Revolution. The online download of all games from N64 and below will rock (Though they haven't released much information as to costs and whatnot), and hopefully Nintendo will actually get some developers under its wing so we can see more than just their trademark series.

XBOX 360 is in my maybe pile. I don't see anything I'm too interested in at the time, but then again I'm not looking right now.

They said it will be free.
Sylphas2005-07-09 06:01:25
If I don't have full control over my characters, it better be DAMNED good, even for Square, to get me to play it. That's hellishly annoying.
Unknown2005-07-09 16:05:27
Yeah, FF 4 had a rather non-existant storyline, and VERY annoying random battles. Almost like FF 1, but it was practically a gameboy game.

FF 5 on the other hand was surprisingly good, I was expecting something worse. And had a cool class system.

FF 6 is the best of those which I played (note: which I played), hands down, especially with the unofficial retrans. No matter what the badger tells you.
Apart from the FMV. They look really weird, at least for me. I think it's just that more realistic styles in FF games put me off.

FF 7 would be better then 6 if not two things: annoying materia swapping between characters, and the feeling that the game tries to persuade us that Cloud (and Sephiroth on that matter) is so OMFG COOL. Sorry, but I can judge who is cool on my own, and Cloud, sir, is not cool.

Didn't play any later ones. What I said: realistic graphics in FF put me off.
Plus, I don't have a console, which makes my post one hell of a hijack.

Fable and Jade Empire were definitely too short. Ninja Gaiden is damn near impossible on Very Hard and Hurricane Pack 2.

EDIT: It seems I accidentally did a five-day thread necro.
