What is wrong with you people! Do they teach you nothing in school?

Other than how to drink tea properly, eat a good biscuit, and perfect your silly accents?

Wow, we finally found a specimen willing to call it a freaking BISCUIT instead of a "cookie" or something else they contrived on the spot! ninja.gif

(And our accents are 100% natural, yo. And I bet Richter has the most ridiculous accent of all. It's the rule of these things.)

Actually Shiri...cookies and biscuits aren't quite the same. Similar, but not the same. So I can call em both smile.gif

Actually, cookies are a kind of biscuit. Biscuits covers a whole lot of things. And we don't HAVE what you guys think are biscuits. (Or if we do, they're called "rolls." But I don't think they're quite the same.)

*express mails Shiri some good southern biscuits* Put jam on em and butter...them's good stuff wink.gif

And obviously, if dear Shiri here were to give you some names of British and/or European Icons, you would all recognise them instantly, right? Because European history is a *very* important course in the US, right?
Unknown2005-07-09 09:40:38
Of course not, the American Empire hasn't reached Europe yet!
Shoshana2005-07-09 10:00:13
Ehh? I'm Australian, know nothing about American history, and I know who Amelia Earhart was... Mind you, I don't know who this "Custer" fellow is, but I can guess from his quote.
Shiri2005-07-09 10:16:47
Well, I know who General Custer was so it all balances out.

European History is a required course in my school, actually. After American History I and II, Euro History is required for Senior year.

D: *cries over lack of Asian History courses*

I leave in such backwater country, yet I still can recognise all of these guys (and gals in Amelia Earhart's case). Even without having a single word about them during my history lessons.

Shame on you all. Shame. tongue.gif
Unknown2005-07-10 00:04:46
I made a deliberate effort to avoid too much American history, so, while I recognised the name, I had no idea who Amelia was tongue.gif.

Not instantly, but probably a good number. Shiri, try it!

European History is optional. If I could take 9 classes next semester, it would be the 9th. Even though I knew someone who took it and didn't like it.. but she was a bit strange, and I think I would. What I do know about European history (which is admittedly, little) I think is fascinating so learning more would be neat. But yes, it isn't required. Whether or not it's important just depends on whether or not you want to take it. I would consider it an important course. On par with American history, anyway.

Personally, I don't see how people find history boring.

It probably varies state by state. I wish it was required at my school.

No, not since you butchered his name. tongue.gif
Shiri2005-07-10 04:22:22
OHhhhhhhhhh. I actually had no idea who megellan was, but now that Terenas mentions he butchered his name, I DO know who Magellan was. dry.gif
