OR, you can spend your tax refund and christmas bonus on them.

That rules out a huge chunk of our population and you know it. Which is fine, but it will have its consequences.

Its curious that we had the most amount of bardic winners in a long time, and none of those credits appeared to have gone into the market.
Am I mistaken that Lusternia requires more credits per charachter than the other games?

I don't think that's really a vicious cycle...
The Celestines sell their Guild creddies at 2000gp at 5 per year. So 10k per year earns you 5 credits. That's 30 lessons.
Doing the cow and pilgrim run, gains me about 3,5k per hour. Say I play 4 hours, that's 14k gold.
In between that, I do the supplicants quest in Celest (similar thing with Glom, Seren, and Magnagora) gaining me 700gp for full run. This resets quite frequently. So say in the 4 hours, I earn about 5600gp.
As well as that, being completely bored, I go do a big quest - Spectre Isle say. 5k there.
Then I do the Dairuchi every hour, which is 1k each. So 4k altogether.
Together, that's 28600gp.
At the current cred market, that's about max 5 credits. With some gold left over for herbs and refills. That's another 30 lessons.
Now while I do all these quests and bashing, I gain levels, and gain say another 5 levels within this 4 hours (noting that I am in the POV of lower levellers - people who can' get to Astral). That's max 10 neocreds. Or 60 lessons.
Together we get 120 lessons. Quite a bit.
Noted, that some of the quests aren't always available, so take 25% off. And you're still left with 90 lessons.
Eventually, if you bash enough and buy enough lessons, you'll get to Astral level.
It's to do with persistency.

I sold all of mine.
EDIT: and yes Lusternia uses more lessons - why? There's so many options. In Lusternia, unlike other IRE, everybody has a tradeskill. In Lusternia, unlike other IRE, Arts is a secondary tradeskill. In Lusternia, unlike others, there are no lesson restrictions like the Guilds in other IRE - meaning you can learn as soon as you're out of novicehood.

I've bought plenty of credits OOC, and still need a bit more planar, at the least, to feel comfortable on Astral. Resilience would be handy too, but that's extremely low on my priority list. That, and I can't get to astral with a buddy and 10 power, even if I get Nexus, since I'm enemied to both cities.

All of that amounts to hours of time that I, for example, can't spend on Lusternia. I'm feeling more and more that time is really the most important commodity in Lusternia.

The thing all the Astral bashers seem to overlook, is it takes credits to actually be able to get to a stage where you CAN bash astral. If only astral bashers can afford the credits, there's a nasty little paradox for you.
I for one can't afford to buy OOC credits, and don't really have a way of earning more money OOC, so I'm stuck, needing credits, but not being able to afford them.
In this way, the rich get richer, and the poor have a hard time improving their economic status.

Revan2005-07-11 05:59:04
Which is why the credit market needs to be completely abolished and credits sold privately.
