Eh why not seems to be the topic of the year.
Galatae2005-07-11 00:23:29
Eh, fair price, I'd pay up to 4000-4500 for credits.
Though it is up to the individual as to how much they want to sell them for.

For me, personally, I answered 3000.

Kill Richter!
Unknown2005-07-11 00:41:55
Yep.
Unknown2005-07-11 00:53:12
I voted 5k. I'll pay less but nothing more than that.
Unknown2005-07-11 01:00:04
I voted 4k just because i think thats a good average price but i too will pay no more then 5k a credit.
Ekard2005-07-11 08:22:40
I voted 5k, but i realy miss times whenb they were for 3k. And i propably would pay more then 5k for credits but ho many novices could buy for so much?
Richter2005-07-11 17:33:44
Psh, I didn't vote until just now.
And yes, you know what I voted for, simply because it lowers the cost of rooms and cartels. I never buy in game credits.

Credits are really made to cost 5000 gold a piece. So that you can buy one after doing a (typical) village quest.
But I voted 4000 to even out a certain someone.

My virtual gold sovereigns on Lusternia are vastly superior and more valuable than your real $$$. In fact, they're superior to your credits - and that's why I don't buy them.

Real money > Fake money
Unless that fake money is bought with real money. Like the time I died and dropped 100k. Or the time I lost 180k on roulette.
People that buy credits with gold they've bashed for... well, I value my credits over their gold, because the money that bought my credits can also feed and clothe me, and the skillz that they used to get their gold will do nothing but deprive them of a social life. This is why I can't really care about the market price of credits. Sorry!

Indeed. But, while I am sure my cries are lost upon the reactionary right-wing soul of your arguement, put yourself in their position. You're right, your spending hard earned cash on those credits. But, let's look into our own future. If you honestly believe the value of the U.S. dollar is going to be worth much by the time you or I are in our fifties (Unless you're an eighty year old man hitting on young girls, using a text-based MUD to pick your victims. Then I'm just afraid of you), you're sadly mistaken. Very soon, China will become the economic power in the world. They have the man power to make gold from lead.
I guess it's just the way I view money - money earned is money lost. Money spent is money well spent. I don't believe in freebies - but if someone is working for it, I've been known to tip upwards of 30% at restaurants, solely because I feel for them - I've worked crappy jobs before, and know the feeling of working for two weeks, then, when you get your pay check, and it's some piddly amount you use to buy food for yourself and maybe some roses for your loved one, then to be broke until the next pay check..
Not everyone can afford credits. I guess I have some philanthropic tendancies in me to be wanting and willing to sell credits cheaper, knowing that, once upon a time, I could not afford credits with real-life money, but wanted that really cool skill in Kaido.
At any rate, I guess, I can understand your point. It's your money, you earned it. But there's a point where you've just become greedy. You shouldn't look at it as it's your real life money, in the form of a credit - you've made a donation to Lusternia, and they've given you credits as a thank you. Like when you make a donation to a museum that's about to open, and you're invited to a very expensive party, where you have to rent a friggin' tux, which isn't cheap. And then there's champagne, but everyone's really happy an eighteen year-old has the money to make a sizeable donation, so they ignore the fact you're drinking champagne - and then they ignore it when he's drinking Captain and Coke, and that's a bad idea. Anyway.
I guess I'm saying, you're crossing from watching your own interests into becoming greedy, becoming that which many people honestly fear from a corporation - and why I dislike your merchants thing. It just offers a lot of undercutting, and ruins the individuals.
Richter2005-07-11 20:45:56
My Merchant's thing offers no undercutting except to members. 25/Howmanythousand?
And I do suppose its how we view credits. I'm not inclined to give any away to people. Why? Because I bought them. Is that greedy? Not at all!
It's either because:
I view this as a game, and he who has the most toys wins, or
I much time I had to sit in this stupid chair answering phones, fixing claims, and being people's shoulder to lean on it took to buy those credits, or
Because I'm still several thousand credits away from building Richter's dream.
I'm nice irl, but I don't feel like I need to do anything with the credits I bought except spend them on myself (with the exception of IG family).
Edit: However, once I do finish building my city, I'd love to help out novices a bit more. I like helping people, which is why I have the job I have. Anyone remember the time I bought mounts for novices, which lost me 100k and some exp? Remember the time I gave flowers to people, and accidentall teleported into guards? I'm not heartless.

I never said it made you a bad person. I simply marked it as it is - an early stage of a corporation. And you should accept that it is, indeed, true. You're there for a profit. I'm not saying it's good or bad. I personally view profit as a good thing - but price gouging is horrible. Like when the oil companies upped their prices just before Dennis - as people were evacuating the area, gas prices jumped nearly 30 cents. THIRTY CENTS A GALLON. And everyone payed it - because we had to. We didn't have a choice.
Are they RIGHT for doing it? No. Are they wrong? Yes, by my perspective. I mean, they're paying their workers, but I bet they're not seeing a penny of it. It's all for the head(s) of the corporation. Who's benefitting most, RIGHT now, from the credit market? Hands down, we all know who the "winner" is there.
Daganev2005-07-11 20:50:20
Honestly, with only ~60 credits available on the market, nobody can complain.

The problem there my friend, is that people need gas. Credits do not help you to get to work, or evacuate. Price gouging on needed things suck. If you want to make a sports car cost a million dollars however, meh, fine. They don't need it, they want it.
On a side note, the one time I did put cheap credits on the market, a powerbasher bought all of them at once. All Of Them.
