Eighth is perhaps the easiest to get into, while not being overly horrible. Hypocrites, fortune-tellers, homosexuals, petty thieves. Even believing in divination is placement in this circle. Soo.

Let's hope that God (if exists) is more forgiving then the test. Otherwise, practically everyone goes to hell, which is bound to explode sooner or later as a result.

My friend, did you not learn anything from the thread in the Funnies? According to christianity, the un-believers are going to Hell. Meaning, non-Christians. According to Islam, so are the Infidels. Meaning, non-Muslims. So, everyone is, indeed, going to Hell. The question is.. Is Hell expanding at a rate greater than the current rate of death? One should assume so, as the death rate is slowing, due to advancements in Technology (and not the grace of some ill-concieved diety, his alleged son , and some white wisps stuck in a heavy breeze). Question is, will Hell freeze over before mankind destroys Earth, and the entire human race? Probably not - I hold the belief all Hell will break loose when we obliterate our race, and we all go to Hell, bursting it's limits at said point in time. However, if that never happens, it would one day freeze over, not explode. Unless it's rate of expansion is inconstant, and inversely proportionate to the rate of birth. Then we've got trouble.
Of course, that would require the belief in such a metaphysical place as "Hell". And unless it's someplace around the Middle East (I for one would believe the swampy mess that is the remains of Mesopotamia and the baking deserts of Iraq and Qatar fit the descriptions of the Sixth Circle...) or Mississippi, I doubt it's existance. Thus, am immune to such placements. But it is an interesting topic, isn't it?

And as an after-thought, since most people are going to Hell, I'm holding a limbo party in the Second Circle. The heavy winds should make it interesting. As a survivor of Andrew and several other severe hurricanes, I am fully capable of holding the limbo pole AND dancing beneath it. Question is, what cute boy is going to bring the Captain?

First Level of Hell - Limbo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charon ushers you across the river Acheron, and you find yourself upon the brink of grief's abysmal valley. You are in Limbo, a place of sorrow without torment. You encounter a seven-walled castle, and within those walls you find rolling fresh meadows illuminated by the light of reason, whereabout many shades dwell. These are the virtuous pagans, the great philosophers and authors, unbaptised children, and others unfit to enter the kingdom of heaven. You share company with Caesar, Homer, Virgil, Socrates, and Aristotle. There is no punishment here, and the atmosphere is peaceful, yet sad.
My beliefs in Religion, Science, and Logic have placed me in the First Circle.

Heh. It's an interesting image, really. I absolutely love Dante's style. The vivid description of this massive fallen angel with goat's pelt over it's legs, these massive wings, a waterfall dumping over it from behind, freezing across it. The bloody foam drooling from it's three mouths freezes on it's vile chins, it's three faces bearing in their torturous maws the damned betrayers known throughout History - Brutus, Cassius, and Judas. And, as Dante climbs up the rotten wool, the three cry out to him - before Virgil ushers him through a Cave, and from there up to the mountain of Purgatory.
Ya'll really should read it. It's an absolutely beautiful work, and if you take a moment to look up the history/characters he's talking about, it is extremely, extremely funny.

Dum de dum. I knew being a shopaholic was bad. It's probably just because I believe that for the most part, people should be able to spend what they earn and not have to give it up. Except actors. Why the hell do they need millions of dollars just to do some movies :/.

Fourth Level of Hell
Just before the river Styx is the Fourth Level of Hell. Here, the prodigal and the avaricious suffer their punishment, as they roll weights back and forth against one another. You will share eternal damnation with others who either wasted and lived greedily and insatiably, or who stockpiled their fortunes, hoarding everything and sharing nothing. Plutus, the wolf-like demon of wealth, dwells here.

Seventh Level of Hell
Guarded by the Minotaur, who snarls in fury, and encircled within the river Phlegethon, filled with boiling blood, is the Seventh Level of Hell. The violent, the assasins, the tyrants, and the war-mongers lament their pitiless mischiefs in the river, while centaurs armed with bows and arrows shoot those who try to escape their punishment. The stench here is overpowering. This level is also home to the wood of the suicides- stunted and gnarled trees with twisting branches and poisoned fruit. At the time of final judgement, their bodies will hang from their branches. In those branches the Harpies, foul birdlike creatures with human faces, make their nests. Beyond the wood is scorching sand where those who committed violence against God and nature are showered with flakes of fire that rain down against their naked bodies. Blasphemers and sodomites writhe in pain, their tongues more loosed to lamentation, and out of their eyes gushes forth their woe. Usurers, who followed neither nature nor art, also share company in the Seventh Level.

I'll post detailed results later, but for now I have about an hour to organize my notes and write a 25 page paper worth half my grade for one of the classes that ended on Friday before going to a new class I'm not prepared for because I didn't get the text book yet. Yippee.

You're not really in Hell. Your better off than those stuck in Purgatory, in all honesty. In Limbo, there is no hope of Salvation - but, that is your only punishment. Knowing you lived good lives, but without God. So you have all of the virtues of Heaven, but without God - or, the Holy Light that makes it Heaven.
