Ah, Daganev, you caught my main points in my first post before it was torn apart and went on so many tangents I thought it was dead! Spot on!
Gwylifar2005-07-17 17:14:50
Anyone want to make an analogy so I can intentionally completely miss the point, in lieu of making an actual argument or addressing the points raised? I just want to fit in!
Wait, I'll do it to myself. Ever notice how when you do a crossword puzzle, sometimes you can't figure out the answer to an across clue without using information from one of the down clues that cross it; that is, information from outside the across clue? See, we are obligated to use OOC information IC!
So let's hold all our planning sessions in AIM to ensure dreamwalkers can't spy on us, and meanwhile, develop spyware to spy on the actions of leaders of enemy nations. Better yet, blackmail them. Cede Estelbar to us, or I'll forward these embarassing emails to your wife! Yeah, that's the game we all signed up to play based on the description on the website.
So Lusternia is neither roleplay-required nor roleplay-encouraged but roleplay-discouraged, since anyone smart enough not to roleplay can screw up those who do. Yawn. I was pretty sure I left Aetolia, but I suppose I didn't go anywhere near far enough. Aetolia was full of people who had mastered the art of rationalizing their flagrant defiance of roleplay (some of the worst of whom got made into Gods eventually). Lusternia still has hope of avoiding that poison, but that hope erodes every day.

I'm going to try to make this simple:
2 Celest vs. 2 Seren vs. 2 Glom vs. 2 Mag
Pretty fair, depending on classes and such.
2 seconds later:
2 Celest vs. 2 Seren vs. 2 Glom vs. 10 Mag
WTF? Our late-night influencers get raped by a full city, what fun.
Yes, we all COULD possibly call in all our friends, but a lot of those have lives, need to sleep, or just don't feel like having to be on all the damned time. Should they have to skip work, stay up all night, or something of the sort in order to have the playing field at all balanced?
Pretty much it seems like any village that doesn't revolt during prime hours for someone goes to Magnagora, unless they feel like giving it to Glomdoring. I simply can't see how you guys find it interesting or fun to pound on people you GREATLY outnumber. Last time I got caught like this, I died once, then logged off because there was simply no point in trying with the people we had.
Bah, I'm going to stop ranting, no one listens to me anyway.

Yeah, and when a group of several players from one city buys a lot of credits and empower their characters so they can beat you, it's also unfair! Don't they have lives so they have to spend their money elsewhere? Freaks!
Maybe there should be a system that when village is open there must be an even number of people from every faction. Like... village prevents you to enter because there is already enough Magnagorans?
Ranting that other faction has more dedicated people who spend much more time online and are ready to log in when they're needed is just pointless.

Ooooooh. I like that idea
"Angry villagers from Dairuchi hoarde towards you, shoving you away and muttering that there are already too many of you swarming within their home."
Unknown2005-07-17 19:40:39
But you realize it was sarcasm. Right?
Soon, we're going to get to the point where every city gets two villages for granted, no work required. Also, system will prevent each nation to have more citizens then others have. On top of that all citizens summarized might will have to be around equal for each city too. And there will be a limit for how long you can play daily.
*connect* Get some sleep now, bye! *disconnect*

Remind me to add sarcasm tags?

Just wasn't sure.
Gwylifar seems to have very high standards.
Not really an analogy, but it reminds me of old days when I was storytelling. I was irritated that when the group separated, everyone just knew everything what's going on with the other group (or character).
So I figured out that we can use headphones. When someone was doing something alone, or I wanted to pass some information just to one of the players (because actually he was the only one who should know that, and it was at his discretion if he tells that to everyone else), everyone except him put his headphones and have been listening to the music.
It added nice elements to the game, players actually had to talk with each other in character to pass the information, for example what they found out when they went on reconnaissance, what are the noises in their heads telling them , that sort of thing). Sure, they were doing that before too but it was artificial and there was no element of surprise. It was forced because they already knew that so why not just skip that part. There were also times when they were bored because some situation developed with separated character and it was taking too long.
And... I forgot why I'm even writing that. I had something in my mind but can't remember what.
