Everyone who is writing work in the dark genre, remember to place this at the end, in case.. please...

I am close to being expelled if I were writing what I am now in America, so please use this in case anything happens..

No threat of any kind, or violation of law or school rule is intended by anything herein. The contents do not reflect my personal state of mind, but are creatively written--perhaps with offense or question to some. The names used are fictitious despite any similarities they may share with others having the same names. In all cases, where words may literally signify threats, violence or other prohibited in-school speech, the reader should perceive them as provocative symbolisms, analogies, similes, metaphors, etc., and, if necessary, the reader should not accord the plain or ordinary meaning to words that sound threatening, or otherwise unlawful, if it is possible, however unlikely, to interpret or define the words in a manner that makes them lawful and acceptable.

I'm curious, where do you get that from? Is that an official template disclaimer from official US sources or anything? That really sounds waaaay over the top. "Don't take it all serious and don't try this at home" should do it, no? sad.gif Oh well. Politicians and Lawyers, two professions that should be burned on the stake. (See initial post for my disclaimer *sage*)

God, sometimes, people just make me sick. I'm sorry you have to go through anything that's caused by people who believe 'To Kill a Mockingbird' is a bad book because it says 'nigger' in it. Sometimes, people just need to be drowned. As a fellow writer, you've my greatest pity. Down with the pussification of America - where Creative Writing of anything beyond how much you love God is treated as a mental illness.

If you're looking for Tenebrae's site, it's here. Note how the suggestion is made in jest. I'm gonna try to do some research of my own to see how truthful the stories on the site are; I'll get back to you all on that one.

That having been said, Tenebrae's reaction is probably not the best one for the long haul. It'll save yer arse for as long as it works, sure. If staying out of trouble is your primary motivator, go for it. I've already had drivers swirve to hit me for participating in protests, though. I might seriously get hurt one of these days! I still refuse to sit on my hands while stuff like this happens.

Tell you what, if there's any legitimacy to the stories on that link above, I'll spend the extra hour to find out who needs to be browbeaten and try to get you some resources to help fix it.

Huh? The people who think to Kill a mocking bird is bad because of the N word are the same people who say you can't bring the declaration of independence in the class room because it has the word 'god' written in it.

Remember how we were talking 'bout Liberals who're over the top, and lost sight of the real goal? Yea. These aren't liberals, they're idiots.

The stories in there are not all completely true... I wrote an essay on this topic, and I will post in in the next thread... Tell me then if it is true or not.

I do entreat your grace to pardon me.
I know not by what power I am made bold,
Nor how it may concern my modesty
In such a presence hear to plead my thoughts;
But I beseech your Grace that I may know
If I present upon you what I feel,
With the writings of the darkest nigh’
To where I am of taste
Presented here are my feelings,
Of an ill resentment to what has been due.
For who has said,
Against the freedoms of the tongue
And the freedoms of what was wrath

(Adapted from a Midsummer Night’s Dream)

Restrictions placed upon the writing of the dark genre through first world countries should be abolished for how it influenced the lives of those who are beneath it. To list those who have been influenced by this, you can note Dylan Finkle and his English assignment, Brian and his evacuation plan, Robin Boim and her personal journal entry, and George “Julius” T. and his infamous poem. These have sprouted underneath the court trial of Hazelwood vs. Kuhleimer and its bylaws, to which more and more cases are sprouting across the world. With this, I firmly believe that restrictions on dark writing should be abolished in first world countries.

The Supreme Court case of Hazelwood vs. Kuhleimer was what first placed restrictions on writing in the American school system. For now, it seems that there is a tendency towards zero tolerance for anything that hints at violence. (Toy npg) These zero tolerance levels have infringed upon the first and second/ fifth amendments for students in America and with that created numerous lawsuits. In 1988 the Supreme Court Decision, Hazelwood v. Kulheimer legally authorized limits on student press and free speech. (NCAC npg) This limitation, if we can call them to mind, is in itself, demanding upon which the school, any school, has the ability to destroy the only legal outlet for emotions.

Eleven years old Dylan Finkle, under the influence of H. B. Thompson Middle School’s malicious overreaction was suspended for a journal entry for English class and was subjected to psychological testing in November, without parental permission. He was suspended after he read aloud in class a novel from his journal based on the teenage slasher movie, Halloween. (NCAC npg) For this, Dylan was subjected to the psychological testing without parental permission, to which the action was illegal, and then suspended in retaliation to this, so would the suspension not be legal in the first place? Superintendent Carole Harlin added on an additional 30 days for no clearly conceived reason (NCAC npg). In addition to the unwanted testing, to further build upon the cruel overreaction of the writings of an eleven-year old, an additional thirty days were added to the original punishment… one could consider this strange, as the punishment was illegal in the first place for it’s influence under the testing.

In retribution to the unwanted psychological testing and its adverse side effects, an amounted defense is being laid down for Dylan against the injustices from one English assignment. Dylan’s parents, who characterized the school’s response as “a malicious overreaction to the creative writing of a precautious child,” unsuccessfully appealed to the Sysosset School Board. (NSBA npg) This response is the beginnings of a come-back for the scars that the school board has presented upon the life of an eleven-year old child and his writing of the dark genre. “Meantime, the New York Civil Liberties Union is planning to file suit in federal court on Dylan’s behalf, claiming that the school violated his free speech and due process rights.” (Hulton npg) For this, an effort is being made to prevent a domino theory from erupting, letting each school expel or suspend their own writers of the dark genre.

Brian’s evacuation plan:
http://savebrian.org/pdf/story.pdf

By creating a fictional piece of writing based off a Hurricane Emergency Plan, Brian was suspended from school and is facing felony charges. Brian was suspended and unable to transfer for writing something which he downloaded off the computer. (Save npg). The page shown above was taken off a hurricane evacuation, and even though he may have stepped over the line, he was not allowed to transfer. And yet even after this, Brian was fired from his job for pot-shots taken by the media. (Save npg). With this information, one can derive that because of the media, Brian was acquitted from his longstanding job, thus bringing the newfound laws of Hazelwood vs. Kuhlemier to ruin another life.

Through her personal journal, 14 year old honors student Robin Boim was turned in by her uncle to the police and, in turn, expelled from Roswell High School for a dream that had no normal chance to become a reality. In October in Atlanta, Georgia, 14 year old honors student Robin Boim was expelled from Roswell High School. (NCAC npg) Being expelled was of no interest of the school, because it had no true way of being carried out. Robin Boim wrote in her personal journal about a student who fell asleep in class and dreamed she had killed a teacher (NCAC npg). Robin Boim’s personal journal was given out, out of school grounds, therefore cannot be said of within the school grounds and authority, and with that the school went past its set limits for what it can or cannot do in the presence of an unclear threat.

“Faces”

Who are these faces around me?
Where did they come from?
They would probably become the
next doctors or loirs or something. All
really intelligent and ahead in their
game. I wish I had a choice on
what I want to be like they do.
All so happy and vagrant. Each
origonal in their own way. They
make me want to puke. For I am
Dark, Destructive, & Dangerous. I
slap on my face of happiness but
inside I am evil!! For I can be
the next kid to bring guns to
kill students at school. So parents
watch your children cuz I’m BACK!!
by: Julius AKA Angel

In San Jose, California, a 15-year old spent 90 days in detention and was expelled from Santa Teresa High School for writing poetry school officials considered too violent. The school systems as well as the legal one are pounding down on people for the only legal writing outlet for anger or feelings. “In a society where children are encouraged to express their emotions and opinions, the court’s decision to overturn the conviction of 15-year-old George ‘Julius’ T. a minor accused of threatening fellow students through his ‘dark poetry’, is heartening.” (JLC npg) Writing has been and is not in itself horrible, oft providing an outlet for emotions is not fully understood, to where the laws that restrict this is only in itself, promoting more violence. And with this, it must finally be understood that what it is in life, to have known that life is being overturned for the sake of a false privilege of safety, and to feel it turned upon it’s way to notice that this privilege is destroying lives, so must laws against it be removed.

This illusionist privilege of safety has begun with Hazelwood vs. Kuhleimer, to where amendments have been broken for the sake of protection of nothing. To have a school able to say that this is not allowed for normal fifteen-year old honors English to write, what is normal? For Dylan Finkle to be expected to write a homework assignment, is it right for the school to apprehend that for a terrorist act? For Robin Boim, personality is important, yet where can the school begin to blindly draw the line? Brian wrote himself a fictitious work; to where it was not believed at all to be able to be carried out, yet still the authorities have brought down a force for that in itself. George T. is a poet, and for one poem, to where havoc was simplified and portended, his life was destroyed… Hazelwood vs. Kuhleimer and its bylaws have begun to ruin lives, and with this, these lives are scarred. Is the prospect of a falsified safety enough to ruin lives? Is this dream that is cherished ruining what can be held as the last free way to express emotions and such? For in the end, all that is held with us is ruined for the way we are destroying the freedoms of our tongues in this world…

And to what dear sir and mad’ am, can I say to thee?
The world we have created is far beyond what we believe.
What it is that is touched, is withering in our hands,
For this is the world we had.
No longer are the freedoms we seek,
As we are limiting our reach.
This last way of showing our feelings,
Is bringing the end, of an untimely feeling.
And yet I do entreat your grace to pardon me.
I know by what power I am made bold,
And how it may concern my modesty
For in such a presence hear to plead my thoughts;
That today and tonight, we are ruining our souls.
