Well, what do you propose? That they obliterate all existing rapiers with extremely high precision? I don't mind!
Unknown2005-07-16 22:25:06
Hey, y'all get up off my rapiers. I reforged these things well over 200 times each, and they're just to be blown up because you can't step out of the room and cure up for awhile? I've got a curse word for that followed by 'you'.
Geb2005-07-16 22:25:12
Lower the precision down to the new max, and increase the other stats to their new max.
Terenas2005-07-16 22:25:36
No? Don't you remember when fullplates with rediculous stats were forged that Roark subsequently downgraded the maximum stats that can be forged (same thing here) but also reduced the overall stats of those fullplates down 109/109. The same thing can be done here to correct the past mistake, in fact this was done in Achaea when rapiers were found to be way too fast, I don't see why it cannot be done here to rectify the problem instead of letting it continue.
Unknown2005-07-16 22:27:09
I don't see how the low speeds with my moderately high precision is really a problem, unless you count in the fact that I'm Aslaran; but hey why don't we just nerf me for being fast then? My rapiers won't do jack in the hands of any other race.
Terenas2005-07-16 22:31:48
Don't make this all about you, Rafael. I'm referring to any weapons currently in existance with 230+ precision and 240+ speed. I would not say those are slow speed with high precision by any standards, especially when they are not even runed yet. Regardless of whether or not the weapons are only deadly in the hands of a fast race, the fact remains that they still causes imbalances on the playing field and they will continue to do so for a long time to come since weapons forged can last over 300 months.
Unknown2005-07-16 22:32:34
Whoa? Who has 230 precision and 240+ speed? Mine are 231/209 and 225/215 unruned. Slow buggers.

Just something interesting to note. There was the most vague of hints on the web site for this release. You will notice that the pureblade and axelord skillsets are represented by the orclach and dwarf images. Furthermore, each race that has a "native weapon" is using his weapons in his image.

You sly god, you.
Also, do all warriors get those two new specializations, or only those races?

My question is, are Mugwumps going to have some form of advantage, if they have the Night Totem? I mean, the Mugwump was using a Cauldron and all..

No. That was painted before we knew what the Glomdoring race would be.
Syrienne2005-07-16 22:59:18
I just don't get the whole Igasho blademaster thing, why would one of the slowest racest be specialized in a sword mastery?
Unknown2005-07-16 23:01:56
The loboshigaru is holding a wooden stave in his racial picture. When do we get polearms?
Laysus2005-07-16 23:01:59
Why must swords be fast and not hard hitting? The most common sorts of swords through the ages have been based around hacking and slashing and stabbing rather than finesse and the like.
Syrienne2005-07-16 23:04:59
Because most of the time, even though I'm sure your definition of finesse is thinking of like a rapier, sword fighting is most of the time always more about speed than battering someone down. An Axe, A flail things like that batter people down, swords more often than not dont batter people. Only type of sword that would really batter is a two handed which case it makes sense for it to be a big powerful race.. on the other hand wielding two swords is more about speed and precision shots than battering.

Think of the Arthur/Black Knight fight in the holy grail.

Black Knight being the battering down Pureblade type and Arthur being the Blademaster more type, cept he wears a shield.

I didn't think anyone ever actually used two swords in serious real life combat. So I don't see any parallel there. I see the igasho as making calculated swings to embed the blade as deep into your flesh as possible using their strong arms. In fact, only a strong race could do that since they have the power of but one arm to sink the blade into your tissue.

I would be tempted to zap anyone who refers to having his arm lopped off by a claymore as being a "flesh wound"...
Laysus2005-07-16 23:30:55
Actually, my one gripe about this is how they gave us nice Greatswords, Bastards, and Claymores (all straight blade and double edged two handed swords) then seemed to run out of ideas and threw in Katanas (single edged, single handed, curved blade) to finish off
Should have bastards as the speed ones, being the lighter two handers (or hand-and-a-half as the case may be), throw in flamberge or something as the moderate one, and then claymores and greats as they are >.>
