2 years max, I predict it!
Devris2005-07-17 04:11:29
We have nowhere near the playerbase for two more large orgs like that, nor do I think the admins have the patience at this moment to put together 6 more guilds and the skillsets involved. There are times when I see 3 people in my city, and I've heard similar stories of the other cities/communes. I'd prefer to see some game mechanics and new events worked on WAY before we add another city into the mix. Sorry to you Halli and Gaug folk, but we just don't have nearly the numbers for an expansion like that. While new cities can be nice, there is also evidence they KILL the playerbase as well. Look at the Glomdoring, quite a few people moved over there, experienced that which they worked for and wanted...and then burned out.
Maybe down the line we can get them in I hope, but we aren't near the size of Achaea, and you are basically asking for the same number of cities they have.

While I heard that argument before, it's also true that Imperian has 6 organisations (I'm counting Ithaqua) and generally has LESS players on at a given time than we do.

I personally thinkin' that they're still being tweaked and perfected. I be they have them at like, 95% functionality but there are no players to stick in there and they still have bugs.
153231
I hope you don't really believe that.
They haven't even started work on it, nor will they until they're a few months away from launch.

Uh, no.
Imperian has 98 people on ATM, while we have 76, but I checked the statistics a few times over the course of yesterday (16 hours, then I slept 8) and we had consistently more outside of American peak. Presumably this is because a lot more of our players seem to be Asian/whatever than Imperian's playerbase, but the point remains. If nothing else, it's EQUAL in size. AND we have less rogues.
Unknown2005-07-17 04:29:32
You guys, they're totally ready to go tomorrow. Same as Ackleberry. No one's done the right quest yet, is all.
Stangmar2005-07-17 04:29:33
My problem with Halli/Gaudi is that it will tilt the game in favor of the Light big time. They were both against the Taint and always will be. So you would have Celest, Serenwilde, Hallifax, and Gaudiguch vs. Magnagora, and we wouldn't really have any support from Glomdoring because they deny the taint and prefer to stay out of it.
Arundel2005-07-17 04:31:43
They may have been before, but who knows what happened in Crucible and all?

Lusternia has a higher number of Euros, yes. But by and large the Imperian population is, at any given time, about 25% higher than Lusternia's(iImperian seems to average 100, Lusternia about 80ish)

Hmm. That's not what I found. But even if it is, 100/6 makes about 17 people per org, so if for the sake of simplicity we say that Imperian has 3 rogues out of 100 on at any one time, they have enough for one more organisation than us. Which could put us at 5.

As it is, the impression I get is that their population isn't big enough to sustain their orgs, and there's a lot of problems in that regard.

Actually, it would cause a few problems if you read the histories (and if people RPed correctly)
Hallifax and Gaudiguch dislike eachother, obviously.
Serenwilde should -majorly- hate Hallifax for creating Glomdoring in the first place.
So, if Celest allies with Gaudiguch, it loses Hallifax. If they ally with Serenwilde, they lose Hallifax. If they ally with Hallifax, they lose Gaudiguch and Serenwilde. So, either way, at worst, it'll be 3v3 or 2v2v2 (not counting Ackleberry in this)

Hmm. Not quite understanding you there.
To clarify, as I understand the situation :
Gloriana = untainted Commune
-> Glomdoring Forest, with the unleashing of Kethuru by the Empire/City of Celest.
-> Glomdoring Commune with the Viravain event (refer events post 22).
As such, to be perfectly logical, the Serenwilde should hate Celest, as well as Magnagora, Hallifax and Gaudiguch, as they have an apparent dislike of the cities (HELP SERENWILDE, cities caused the Taint, etc, etc). They should also probably hate Glomdoring, to be honest (simply because it's tainted).
However, because of various factors, these idealised alliances and feuds (according to the histories/mythos etc) don't always happen. You do have to take into account the fact that all Communes/Cities will do what it takes to survive, and the fact that because they are player-run, their players will have the deciding vote on what happens.

Actually, according to the histories, the Taint was moving slowly to the south, but Hallifax was about to be consumed and so they got a bunch of Aeromancers to blow the taint cloud away, which pushed it right over Gloriana. If that hadn't happened, its likely that only a small portion of the forest would have been tainted before Kethuru was jolted out of the Taint.
At least, that's how I read it. Hallifax basically damned Gloriana when they saved themselves.

If you build it, they will come, and mock it, and complain about it, and then you will wish you never tried in the first place...

How many times have we had this discussion now?
And I am afraid I will have to side with Shikari on this one, if every commune/city adhered completely to the history, we would all be in a state of perpetual warfare, no one would have allies and the taint would run rampant.
And why on earth do people keep classifying cities as good and evil? This really confuses me, a city (and commune at that) is what the players make of it, sure, the code and the building points in a certain direction (playing celest as a tainted organisation would be ludicrous) but it is the players that make the choices, the players that make the organisations. There are so many ways in which things can develop from a given starting point that classifying them before you even know when the city will be in (not to mention that no one even really knows what they will look like after all these years, or who will end up joining them) is about as accurate as flipping a d20 and putting a tag on each number.

To tired to care who I'm quoting here as I've had a total of 20 minutes of sleep last night, and I'm going to be on the road for the next near-to 12 hours, anywho...

Ya no matter what their views on the taint, they HATE each other, the only reason they weren't at open war was the Empire of Celest was strong, well now they're just a lil under-city themselves, and when the two cities come back, hmm just had a thought, gods for those cities.... anywho, they'll hate each other, if the taints not knocking on their doorstep they're not going to bother with it they're be trying to destroy each others nexus's every two seconds... heh another thought, went the EVENT does come around, if/when it does it'll be awsome, can you immagine it suddenly poping up on the aether waves, POP 2 cosmic planes 2 elemental planes and 2 cities, and in all 6 area's a battle is going on.. heh. Ya i know THIS is the middle of my post but i worked from the bottem up, so THIS is the end, hehe c-ya tomorrow people!

To put basic DnD alignments to it, which please don't quote me on this because this is taint-war only stats for the cities...
Hallifax-Lawful
Celest-Good
Gaudigauch-Chaotic
Magnagora-evil
If/When in the distant future Hallifax comes back they're going to be like Uber strict about all their Laws, and they're going to have a lot of them. Don't you remember the Histories how they're Meetings were all orderly even though the taint was consuming the Basin AND 4 of their 7? members were currentally dead.
