Duuude, chill a bit, I am joking. This thread died two years ago, make a new one.
Dysolis2007-07-03 22:33:23
the point I was trying to make ,we don't need new threads. it's why husbend/wives and looking for children threads look a likes are not spread out all over the place. I wasn't actually serious of taking an occ thing to an IC thing, it just felt right to slap you yet with no slap emote, and you insulted my grammar! oh noes!. I tried making a new Lusternia is dead thread and I found out why!.
Unknown2007-07-03 22:38:43
One tends to think that grammar would be, at least, a little important to a text-based game player.
Dysolis2007-07-03 22:40:47

Exactly. I am the official Gaudgiuch and Hallifax thread starter. We don't need copies, as I said it's why we don't have husbend/wives thread number two. Instead of having Gaudiguch/Hallifax repeated 20 million times, we have mine.

Officially self-proclaimed? >_>

As mod, I'm appointing Ashteru to Stupid Pointless Gaudiguch/Hallifax Thread Starter.

I do agree with Dysolis in that it's sad that people sort of say "meh" to the two lost cities. There was a quest with a lot of interest in the beginning, but it seems players have sort of said "who cares" to it and are cynically waiting for the player base to expand before they even begin to care.
I think if enough in-game interest happened, we might start getting events that might hint at something or progress. There's a lot to be interested in. Dysolis at least is keeping the flame alive, pun not intended.
I do notice that Shiro was wrong with his "two year bet", hopefully the bet between Aesyra and Aiakon might find in favor of the latter person.

Shiri, may I be the Offical Gaudifax Thread Closerer?

Sure.

That's because there is not more we can do about it. Gaudifax enthusiasts' options are at the moment limited to the following:
1. Make the power node quests, which do not actually make the cities closer to being revealed.
2. Make stuff up and present it as IC research. Which is a bad idea because such "fan fiction" almost never is consistant with what the Admins actually plan to do, and enforcing this (derived from that faux research) point of view on other players is wrong.
3. Make actual research. Problems here are as follows: analyzing histories was done already at least ten times, and metagame research will bring results in the "highfive a vial == vials have arms!" way.
4. Beg to admins for scraps of info.
1 and 4 aren't very effective. 2 and 3 aren't either, and they'er also a waste of time and an insult to other people's intelligence. I was in the Ackleberry clan (the first one, about three years ago - Munsia was still a moonie), they came up with such stupid trash, you wouldn't believe.

I'd be happy if he did more to 'keep it alive' beyond jumping me when I hunt.
And most players have burned out, because every time there's an event, some people start thinking it's Gaudiguch and Hallifax. And it isn't - again. Burnout factor. Gets you every time.
Dysolis2007-07-05 18:21:44
I would agree with that. (( as long as that your not hunting Dracnari then your kinda dowsing my flame just a tad bit there))

I think we have to come up with some happy medium. On one hand, the people who constantly say "We're ready, bring the cities!" don't really weigh the consequences, and the people who always say "We don't have the people, wait for them to show up" will never make any progress.
It's like people who say they want to get married/have kids/whatever, but they are waiting for the "right time." You will never have enough money, time, whatever else you're waiting for. In the same way, until there are new organizations, we will never have enough people to fill those new organizations. It's simple logic - people prefer to fill in specific holes. It is not as fun to create a character in an organization where everything is handled, every RP direction has been explored and reexplored, and there's no room for consistent progress. More people will not come until we get more space.
Second, people use faulty numbers. In this thread and several others I see people say things about how many people we have around at a time on average, then divide up those people into the different organizations. How often are all of our leaders around at the exact same time? We can't use our average numbers, they don't mean much. It is the total number of active players that matters, and none of us really know that total.
On the other hand, we can't just go throwing out new cities because it's something to do. Right now the admin are in the middle of a lot of big changes that will improve the game more than these two cities would. It's all about prioritizing, and frankly these two cities (and the ackleberry) just aren't all that important. If we do improve our newbie retention rate, then they will become more of a priority, but for now we need to let it go. The admin will let us know what and when we need to know about them.
Oh, unless we believe Shiro:
The two new cities will be coming out in about 11 days! Get ready!

I think the happiest medium would be to have some plots that put the "story forward" in regards to the missing cities. I made a few suggestions in my "Wish List for Unknown stuff" thread.
While we obviously can't have the cities (and the lost commune) return, we should continue to release information or have plots around it. Like I said, slow reveals could be helpful--are there any sort of the suspected "Crystaline magical technology" anywhere in the basin, on another plane, or aetherspace? Did any members of the Illuminati survive and hide somewhere? Did any Vortex or Continuum creatures escape? Is there any sign of a fire elemental? All would help bring forward-progress without having to establish new communities.
That's probably the best way to handle it. It also brings let's people know what's the cities and cultures might be like, so they don't get disappointed.

also just fyi , I am not here to become disappointed. I am willing to wait Two Real life years before they make up their mind what to do with my city, because I can't quite see Lusternia whole without completing the elements. We need Earth, Fire air and water in my mind. I would also like to see some quicker developments. on Zoaka , like what happens when it explodes? or where is the rest of the history at? How does one obtain the dragon skin armour when there are little dragon's to be found. (( Also with the player base currently, I say we have been doing pretty good off peak times, we have a little less than Imperian right now but obviously no IRE is going to match the PB of Acahea))
