The rain falls from the darkened skies
While innocence prays and sighs
Broken hermit crawls through his prayers
While priest clings to his god's despair
Love binds the the knot and works it through
Before hatred has time to slice it in two
And lovers who once stood strong without fear
Now hide amongst shadows in wait for yester-year
The prophet spreads himself upon his hand
While morning strolls merrily upon the scorched land
She screams in terror at midnight's plight
And goes away to return after the damned's twilight
Even the martyr who whispers his lies
Finds truth in the corpse's unmoving eyes
And We become neither of us, but I
And you, where eternal life can die
Words of cause and action break the sun
To shatter his helm and let the blood run
His eyes lay tainted with long-ago memories
And no one hears his last breath or plea
Five lines attach themselves to us all
Flinging us around like a puppeteer's dolls
So sweet is fate to cast his poison into our blood
And let it slowly make us into what we hate to love
But then again, when all is said and done
And the day has ended and night's begun
When the rain sends itself to its suicidal death
Isn't that what this is all about?
That one, last final caress.

I just thought that it had to do with the 5 strings attatched to a puppet, 2 hands 2 legs and the 1 head.
That's just wonderful Marina , please keep on writing these poems for us

Oh I know that but I thought there could be something a little deeper there too.

You're both right. I did write about the strings that hang off a puppet, but to me, it has a deeper meaning. Something a lil' personal.
