Was lazy, so I sorta skimmed and stuff.

Josun doesn't see the Taint. He hates Celest because he believes the Taint to be an illusion the Aquamancers use against the world to gain allies. He hates Serenwilde for not being like Glomdoring, but would probably hate them less if they weren't quite so anti-Glomdoring themselves. And he pities the Magnagorians because they've fallen for the Taint illusion and blind themselves in that way, while maintaining a dislike for them because they're of a city. He also slightly fears them, but that's a part of his history that I won't bore you all with.

Anyway... most Glomdoring people don't see the Taint. At least in the Blacktalon, you're trained to not see it. Can't say for certain about Shadowdancers and Ebonguard, but it is that way in the Blacktalon.

Just for the drink choking, Shiri... I don't know who you think you're fooling. Nejii is ANOTHER fanatical Moondancer. Hahaha. Maybe not against Celest, but still a fanatic. We all KNOW!

Which I happen to think is the stupidest thing I have heard. I mean great it is your RP and all, but that is like Serenwilde suddenly saying water does not exit, then acting like a bunch of lemmings and wondering how they died in the Inner Sea.

Editted because Rhayni and Shiri post to damn fast and messed up the order.
Shiri2005-07-31 11:55:52
How does that follow at all? blink.gif

EDIT: OHHHH.
Jairdan2005-07-31 11:58:27
I wish Hartstone was 1/3 of the guild Blacktalon is RP wise.

I think they're doing a great job actually giving themselves a basis and image. Crow is blind to the Taint, and so are his druids.

Then again, water didn't come into Serenwilde and warp the way the forest and spiritual entities appeared and behaved, did it? tongue.gif

The Taint warped Glomdoring. The Taint was released by cities, and as a forest, they're inclined to reject the ways of cities, both their attempts to purify it and their attempts to use it. If they admitted to being tainted and using the taint, wouldn't that be admitting to have been wrong about the way cities are?

... Or something like that. It helps that there is/are Gods who play along and behave as if Glomdoring isn't Tainted. (I know Viravain does that, but I don't know enough about Shikari to jump up and down and say He doesn't see the Taint either.)

So do villages, we don't mind them!
Elryn2005-07-31 13:20:37
The area where the cities are now was never verdant forest to begin with. I don't think they tore down anything. Certainly nothing that the original communes noticed.

Nature is more than just forest. tongue.gif

EDIT: I suppose I should explain a little bit more. The Communes have always been a little wary of cities, haven't they? Cities have rejected the ways of the forest and bonding with nature in favor of building up walls and ignoring nature in favor of learning "higher" things.

And the tearing-down nature comment was meant to mean that they have torn down nature before, why not move into the forests where nature is most abundant, should they feel the need to expand and need to move into that sort of territory? I know it isn't too likely to happen from an OOC perspective, but Josun is suspicious of cities for building more than they truly need and raising walls and things of that nature.

They don't expand, really. The moment they start building bigger things and compete with Glomdoring for control over villages, Josun'll start minding them, too. tongue.gif

They expanded from nothing to a village. A city expanded from nothing to...a slightly bigger village, if you think about it.
Elryn2005-07-31 13:30:43
Tear down implies height or stature. It is difficult to tear down grass.

Also, in Lusternia forest is the highest ideal of nature - although the cities may occupy a minute space that a few shrubs could certainly grow in, so does Moondance Tower, the Black Tower, every single village, the Castles, the arenas, Faethorn's buildings, etc.

Having said that, I don't think the cities tore down, or destroyed anything. The celestine empire was obsessed with cleansing the basin, focused on elemental purity rather than living health, perhaps, but there is still no reason to believe they tore down any natural ecosystem.

Pardon someone who doesn't know much of the story from the non-histories point of view, am just curious. But aside from the glomdoring's goddess not seeing the taint and disliking it, where does it say that glomdoring after the taint changed the forest and the people in it in the histories, that those that remained disliked the taint/those that caused it? The histories show how the moondance coven of the Serenwilde felt about it, the Ackleberry sealed itself away so we don't know how they felt/would feel about it, and except for recent opinions stated from Divine or Rowena (which I wouldn't know of, which is why I'm curious) I don't see anything stating why the Glomdoring has any ill feelings for those that caused the taint. Also another thing I was just curious of was the effects of the taint would at least visually I would think be obvious to those who live in the Glomdoring, so how is it explained/rped when they feel and say how they are not tainted nor the land around them?

Yes, there is unease because they don't revere the same things the original communes did. That is entirely true.

But the building thing - no.

Syntax: INFLUENCE WITH LECTURES
Ego Battle: Serenwilde Commune Influence*
Villages are wonderful places that provide shelter and community. However,
villages that fall under the influence of so-called civilization may be
exploited by power-hungry cities that care nothing for the balance of nature. A
few, simple lectures will remind them of this fact.

Syntax: INFLUENCE WITH RECITATION
Ego Battle: Serenwilde Commune Influence*
Who could not be influenced by the moving Ode of Ellindel? Reciting it to
villagers who are perhaps jaded by civilized ways may bring them closer to
nature and the Serenwilde.

That, for starters tongue.gif
