I think most people who've tried to have a philosophical debate in Lusternia have probably come across this somewhere, but what ARE the histories, per se? Are they just vaguely remembered things people have passed down in writing over the generation, or are they telepathically "imprinted" in some way in our minds when we come through the portal? If it was the former we wouldn't be able to "quote" the histories as many of us are wont to do, so I wondered if there was any canon on the topic. Should people not quote from the histories, as a rule, because it's not something that can be memorised? We all have access to the same portions of history, so I don't know about that. But there might be something I haven't encountered in the help files or something such as the "aetherwaves" tells and channels are explained by that I've missed somehow. Was just wondering.

Over the past few days, I have read a few posts by the admins and even Estarra, mentioning that the histories are second hand accounts of things that happened during a very confusing time.
I assume they can be interpreted in the same way that modern Academics likes to read history.

That's true, but not exactly what I'm referring to. I mean, are they part of a sort of akashic record like the help files that everyone can access, or are they just books we've been taught to read as a kid (or something)?

I always assumed they were written records, and that I had read them in my guild's library. This seems particularly a necessary interpretation given the "written" nature of the latter parts -- transcripts of meeting minutes and aether broadcasts, excerpts from journals, etc.
