Lisaera brought it up on GT to us at one point when Laysus was talking about something related, she named a gold cost too. We never pursued it though (obviously, or we'd have one.) Didn't consider it worth it, quite likely. Such a freak chance of Arale's situation occuring.

Heh. I'm still hoping to actually get an indoor room, let alone an alembic.
Gwylifar2005-08-01 14:47:51
Moondancers can get an alembic but Serenguard can't get a forge? Bloody hell.
Richter2005-08-01 16:10:29
I don't see how an alembic or pentagram would encourage rogues any more than a forge would.
"Whoa, a manse forge, now I can ditch the Ur'Guard and continue forging!"
vs.
"Whoa, an alembic, now I can ditch the Moondancers and continue amalgamizing!"
(...that's the right word, right? I blame Selthar)

Amalgamating, I think.

I believe it is because elixirs and enchantments are an integral part of Lusternia and as such can be regulated by each commune and city because each organization can enemy a person essentially stopping them from being a detrement to said organization.

No food, i'll live. No weapons? Oh, in that case our warriors will just kick our enemeis to death... *hum*

I think a lot of your ideas are good but they could conceivably conflict with upcoming expansions we have planned for manses (which obviously I'm not going to get into). For instance, anything that takes you out of the manse (i.e., newsroom) is a no-no (for reasons I can't tell you). Sorry to be mysterious, but I just wanted to let you know that there are underlying reasons why we're currently not allowing some features for manses.
I'd allow any purchased pet to reset in a manse room instead of a person's inventory, which can look like a guard or whatever.
Hmm, what about a 'hot tub/bathtub' artisan category where you can scrub yourself clean if sitting inside one? Just a random, nonsensical thought.
Just get an artisan to design a bench in the couches category (i.e., it'd work like a couch but look like a bench).
I'd like to mention that at this present time, we are SERIOUSLY overloaded with work in the coding department. While there are many things I'd like to see implemented, such as looking at manse improvements, we simply do not have the manpower. Thus, I have to make decisions on priority. BTW, if there are any excellent coders out there who want to volunteer their coding skills for payment in credits, please send Roark a message in-game.

2. Manse mobs
It would be wonderful to see some mobs in a manse. They would offer no experience (as some people think I want to sit in my manse and gain exp from my own stuff ), and would be fairly customizable. A system similar to the trademaster's submission system could be workable here, letting you set the descriptions, etc. I'm not sure how the "which rooms the mobile is allowed in/allowed to roam into" would work, unfortunately.
This could be for anything from wandering creatures, citizens, or more agressive/expensive guards.

5. Additional artifact- water
We've established that the terrain for manses is "aether". I think by now we know we cannot get the terrains we'd hoped for. But can we have an artifac that lets us flood a room with water? This would allow you to scrub, and create lakes or rivers. Nothing like walking through a room you wanted to be flooded.

Can we have a special allowance for benches in manses? The terrain is the neutral "aether" anyway.

Awesome Estarra, Pure awesomeness I am satisfied, happy! You have made this sleepy girl's day!
Richter2005-08-01 17:12:54
Yeah, thanks for the post Estarra. I was actually thinking something similar about bathtubs, though it wouldn't allow for a canal or lake.
And we do understand you all have a lot of work to do, and manses might be seen as kind of secondary priority (though there's money to be made there!). They aren't as important as fixing debating, or tweaking fighting, or something of the like.
I'm going to get in touch with artifacts@lusternia.com about the pet thing though. I think I'm going to make my morphling reset to Deepnight, and get a few reactions, etc.
At this point, all we can really do is sit and wait to see what you all have in store for us, since the majority of us cannot code at all.

PANORAMA: Turns the room into a massive, ever-changing panorama of other locations. Can be set INDOOR/OUTDOOR, DAYTIME/NIGHTTIME, TAINT/FLOOD/FOREST/GLOOM, as well as other inherent characteristics of other rooms.
BIRDCAGE: Contains a bird trained to DELIVER (package) TO (person). Also sings, does other entertaining things as a pet...
BOOKSHELVES: Lines the walls with bookshelves and useful manuscripts, allowing access to records, registries, etc.
TRAP DOOR: Like other doors, but opens and jetisons people into a dungeon room whenever the person with "permission" enters the room.
CLOUDY ORB: Allows SCRYing of target people.
COAT OF ARMS: Displays a set crest of arms, customized by the admins, for all to see. Like a shop sign, but for any appropriate area in your manse.
MAGIC POOL: Pool of magic waters which wash magical effects off of submerged items, also works as a bath.
ICE CHAMBER: Halves decay rate of food/drink items stored inside.
NOTEBOARD: Allows pinup of three reminders/announcements. New ones eject old, and reading the board will show the latest three in order.
RIFT: Connects a room in your manse to another manse. The owner of the other manse can remove the rift at will, losing you your credits. Maybe a half refund.
SUMMONING CIRCLE: Allows you to return to your manse from anywhere, with significant balance required. Also, allows summoning of a target from anywhere, with similar long term delay.
DIVINE ICON: Placed in manse, devoted to a single god, this small statue allows offerings. No karma gain or shrine powers, as well as no defiling.
Phew, nice little list

Oh, and a resonating stone that responds to the owner's voice. Speaking through the stone will send the spoken message (in vibrations or somesuch) through the aetherways. Good for telling everyone in their manses "Hey, come on over, we're having a party!"
Richter2005-08-01 17:24:29
Those are actually pretty darn good ideas. I'm really looking forward to bookshelves; I assume we'll get them in manses whenever They figure out the books Lusternia-wide.
