Back to Common Grounds.

How so? I don't think the taint has a 'wastelands' effect on the Faethorn Forest.

"Hey, Magman, we need to PWN Faethorn. Get your ass in there and clean up their demesnes."

Yes it does have a wasteland effect.

Guess the tainted rooms I saw in it earlier were the non-forest ones, then.

So... not all reality checkers are created equal!

Make it so that it's harder for certain races/classes to break an illusioned terrain in certain places (highways, cities, etc.) That would make both terrain and sapling balanced and very much equal to one another.

When destroying an illusion, it is a check based on the casters ability in illusions. So the higher you are in illusions the harder it is to break your terrian.

That's true for the dispel ability, I guess, but realitycheck (the discernment one, AB DISCERNMENT ILLUSIONS) works 100% of the time in my experience.

I meant ILLUSIONS in discernment, Haja, my boy wink.gif

Do I have to wield the axe to chop down the sapplings?
Aleron2005-08-04 04:35:10
Yes. Makes it even with Druids having to wield sickles AND cudgel tongue.gif
Vix2005-08-04 14:43:12
They do drop wood when they're chopped don't they? If so, we finally get more wood for furniture! biggrin.gif

It really wasn't changed for normal forests, but back when they made the change to geomeld, stopping it from doing it to tainted forest.

Have a geo do it in a normally tainted forest, and that's what it does to every forest.

Just curious, but what exactly does it take to make the saplings?
Does it require power? Or just mana? Because if all it requires is mana, then
whats to stop someone from creating them just to chop them down themself
and repeat for as long as they want to have a basically infinite free supply of
wood, if they do indeed drop the wood commodity?

Saplings do not drop wood. Mature trees do - that takes two years, unless Nature Growth is used, and, obviously, we don't know how long it lasts/improves.

Just mana and eq.

Tsakar sent me a message, asking for clarification - not wanting to spam the boards. However, I figured it best clear up any misconceptions now. This is, as far as I can tell, how it works.

QUOTE
Don't need to spam the boards with more posts then it already is and I'm just curious and don't intend no offense or to start some argument.  But from how I'd personally read the post, geb had asked if he had to wield an axe to chop down the saplings (the new ones, versus the ones that are grown from the seren mother tree) and Vix asked if they drop wood when chopped down, if so more wood for furniture (which again I personally thought it read like he was still referring to the new saplings versus the seren mother tree ones that grow into elder trees and totems and the like) and you'd replied to that saying they solved two problems.  So I was just wondering what were the two problems that were solved besides druids now having their own equivalent of the terrain illusion?

Okay. In a naturally forest room, tainted or otherewise, if a druid FORESTCAST SAPLING, it will raise a sapling. This sapling dies in 4 swings from a non-axelord, and drops no wood. In two IC years, without Growth, it will become a Mature tree. These Mature trees can then be harvested for lumber. These trees last for 10 years - if not harvested by then, they will die. The older (and heavier) that it is, the more wood it drops.

If it is a FORESTCAST FOREST room, then the sapling only lasts 1 hour - and dies in a swing or two. Definately one swing, from an axelord. These do not drop wood, either.
Vix2005-08-04 15:25:00
The second problem was that mages could illusion their demesne and make it impossible for a druid without realitycheck to forest.

Oh, and I'm a she by the way.
Unknown2005-08-04 16:30:10
Heh. I didn't really read the specifics of his message. So yea, she's a she.
Laysus2005-08-06 15:15:18
Ok, so it has come to my attention that with Magnagora and Glomdoring working together this is actually largely useless. Yay.
Unknown2005-08-06 16:34:46
well maybe sern should try and unite the forests? or make some RP way of making glom come together with sern? could not hurt to try
Laysus2005-08-06 17:03:39
We actually considered that when they were first raised.

Then the avatars decided to only take dead fae, and so on and so forth.

And it all went to hell.

The game's design has pitted us against each other as much as anyone.

I was just wondering if anyone knew when to expect the Druids skill to come out or if there will even be one and if so what it may be.

So... on topic, is there any word whether the rumoured Druid skill will arrive before the end of the sale? Ie, is it something to start expecting, or should we just be a lot more patient?
