Remove them please. Thanks.
Ashteru2005-08-03 17:21:24
Seconded.
Unknown2005-08-03 17:22:50
Especially because our pathtwist ability, the closest thing we have to demesne summon, is stopped by the archways. We can't block them, we can't briar wall them, we can't do anything. Just remove them - thanks!
Ashteru2005-08-03 17:25:46
Just some Examples why.

Telira now jumps in and out for whatever reason.
Some time again - okay, really long - Tharruk spit in Malicia face several times, just out, spit, in.
All too fast to vine them or something. Really annoying.
Richter2005-08-03 17:29:00
It's one of those mothering functions, because people wouldn't shut up about it in the first place.

People are going to complain either way.
Unknown2005-08-03 17:29:35
Indeed. So let's not mother - Glomdoring wanted mothering, they got a treaty. Visaeris whined for these arches, can we get them removed? Thanks.
Sylphas2005-08-03 17:42:17
The only thing I've been able to do now with the damn arches is to infuse rad and trigger people jumping through to rad/cen, and hope it buys an extra second to vine them or something.

It's because I can't glance through the archway. I want to see what's going on over there!

The archways are as much Estarra's idea as Visaeris. The idea is that, if you're going to do ranged attacks across a border, you should expect some bad things (read: barging) to happen. But She doesn't want even well-deserved barging into guards to happen.

And, you know, these quick drops into Faethorn are an expensive way to learn how to fight against a group. Gregori completely owned me earlier this month because I ran out of melancholc. It was depressing. All I could do was sit there, watch my health go down, and say "Wow! I'm stupid!"
Gregori2005-08-03 18:25:23
Changes to barge could have been accomplished without archways. Ranged attacks could have been avoided by simply shielding, moving, or not standing there to begin with. What are we going to shoot at if you move out of the way?

The argument was you shouldnt have been able to shoot into ethereal Glomdoring in the first place.
Gregori2005-08-03 18:35:33
Yes we should have been able to. Just like Magnagora, Glomdoring, Celest can shoot into Serenwilde if they want to. We all have a ranged attack. The difference is, Serenwilde knows how to move out of the way.

No you shouldnt have been able to.. thus the archways
Gregori2005-08-03 18:42:50
You will note there is no archways anywhere but Faethorn. Why is this? Because Glomdoring whined about the fact they can't stand in the straight path. There is no archways anywhere else stopping this from happening. If the problem was we shouldn't have been able to do this, it is just as easy to change it so we cannot. They were put there as a kneejerk reaction to Visaeris crying that something needed to be done, because it was not fair to expect him to have to defend himself.
Nyla2005-08-03 18:44:25
You cant attack from villages outside or from outside villages in. Such is Faethorn and Ethereal Glomdoring and Serenwilde
Gregori2005-08-03 18:46:51
Faethorn is not a village. I distinctly recall you all saying that. I can stand on any highway and shoot into Magnagora, Serenwilde, Glomdoring, Celest. Any place I choose. Except on Ethereal.

Since when can you not attack from villages out or villages in, either? I recall standing at SG gates many times and having to shield because of Magnagoran boulderblasts coming in.

Do any cities or communes have trees just outside the border?

No idea what relevance this has, however any place has trees that a Druid wants to have trees, aside from Ethereal Glomdoring(which have trees, just not hartstone trees), and the two Elemental planes.

I was wrong then. I could have sworn it was just like beckon.
