No idea what relevance this has, however any place has trees that a Druid wants to have trees, aside from Ethereal Glomdoring(which have trees, just not hartstone trees), and the two Elemental planes.

The relevance is that when you climb into a territory through trees the guards don't stop you.

True, but we can also BURROW BELOW, and we can FLY.
Gregori2005-08-03 19:05:23
Or sprint, or serpent and skip through, or a number of other ways that we use to bypass guards and raid.

In fact, I gotta say...isn't that the whole -point- of ranged attacks? To stand back a distance and smite thy foes from afar? Hence being a "ranged" attack.
And let's have a look at who has ranged attacks.
Aquamancers
Blacktalon
Geomancers
Hartstone
Guilds that can't, typically, stand up to melee combat exceptionally well in the first place. Thus, they stand back a room or two to fight in relative safety.
Now, there's also things like Beckon, but you can *Gasp* Stand one room back in your home territory! Make them walk into guards to do it to you! And then, once they've walked into guards, you can run in and help the guards out! What a brilliant strategy, why didn't someone think of that -ages- ago? Oh wait, someone did. That person's name is "Everyone."
And let's have a look at who has ranged attacks.

I really dislike not being able to look through
the archways, so it would be nice to be able to glance
through them or glance archway and as for running in
and out of them, either make it so you can briar archway
or give entering and leaving archways a balance cost, maybe
half of what it takes to transverse?

Or just remove them, for the same effect.

If you're worried about Hartstone shooting at you, shoot back, Blacktalon.
EDIT: Not to mention the wonders of the inept skill in High/Low Magic.

There is also this arguement.
The outer planes, as stated by Estarra were meant for conflict. Hence no Avenger. So conflict happens on the outer planes and what is the first thing that happens.
"Please hard code something so that they can't attack me!" If you don't want to be attacked. Stand on Prime.
Edit::
I will also point out that it has been proven, he who controls the other side of the archway tends to control the outcome of Faethorn. Archways have been the best advantage in seiges yet. Admittedly they helped Glomdoring grow and get their totems and guards in place, but their usefulness has long been outlived.

Necroing this thread so I don't hijack Estarra's idea one further. These are all reasons why the archways being removed is NOT a bad thing. Especially if its only for 20 minutes an hour!
Sylphas2006-06-05 23:33:36
Archways suck.
