Best way to do that is to actually be in the business, unfortunately. Being a game tester and working your way up to Quality Assurance in these companies (To eventually designer if you stick around long ago) is the best way to get your voice heard, especially when you can go back during a bug report and say "Don't you think there are too many random battles?" or "These controls are a little sticky!" Other than that.. I don't know if the QA departments of games branch out into the public.

Soo.. move to your nearest gaming capital in your country. Most game testers can hold part time status to keep you in school, although there are a few that are full-time positions. If it doesn't say "Game Tester" in the job title look for the more professional "Quality Assurance."

Too bad I have to finish up Uni still.  closedeyes.gif

Edit: Examples of QA jobs needed might be found at this site:

I want to go to Canberra and go to AIE cause that seems the best way for an aussie, but of course *drools at the prospect of being payed to test games*

blink.gif how can you like Suikoden 4 and not like Chrono Trigger...

... Actually how can you not like Chrono Trigger...

I believe this is one of the signs of the Apocalypse who else agrees?

AIE looks good (Instead of asking you I actually looked it up! Takin' the iniative, baby!) and the starter courses don't look like they'd cost much. If you pirate the software necessary for the certificate III, and manage to get the $7900 for the final year for the diploma it seems like a slightly cheaper way to get where you wanna go. (And $7900 isn't bad over 12 months if you can stand being at home and working part-time on occasion)

If I wasn't bent on learning Japanese I think I'd opt for something like this too. *envy*

And yes, if you didn't like Chrono Trigger something must be wrooooong!

So, has anyone else printed out the entire 300+ page script for FFT and stuck it in a binder to read through, or am I just way too in love with that game?

Latter.

Seriously, dude, that's just weird.

(I still need a decent way to play that. dry.gif)

Sylleria plays FFT multiplayer on the Gamefaq forums - I think that's even more fanatical biggrin.gif The math for the game is so simplistic and easy to calculate, with the only randomness being VERY simply calculated percentile chances, that it's as easy to play FFT on a forum as to play Mafia on a forum tongue.gif

I figure the people who are reading this thread could appreciate this:

So, I started playing FFX again, because I have nothing better to play, and I'm naming all of the Aeons after Lusternia Divines. I tell this to Shiri on MSN, and his response was just awesome:

Nyren says:
Ifrit = Raezon, Anima = Fain, Valefor = Isune, Shiva = .... Viravain or Lisaera

(S) Shiri (S) Suiten sakamaki, Nejibana; jinteki shakusetsu, Suzumebachi says:
Valefor = Isune?

Nyren says:
Which is more of an ice censor.gif ...

Nyren says:

Nyren says:
Yeah

(S) Shiri (S) Suiten sakamaki, Nejibana; jinteki shakusetsu, Suzumebachi says:
VALEFOR? VALEFOR?

(S) Shiri (S) Suiten sakamaki, Nejibana; jinteki shakusetsu, Suzumebachi says:
ISUNE GOT SHAFTED AGAIN!?!?

Isn't Anima a girl? -eye Fain-

Also, if someone starts a forum FFT here, I would love them forever. wub.gif

I just didnt like it.. I play it every now and then but I lose interest fast and start playing Secret of the Stars... (It was my first and will always be my favorite even though it took me 10 years of my life to finish)

Okay, why not? Me vs you, with Sylleria moderating? I'll get her to post the links to the rules she played with before, they seemed really nice.

EDIT: Read the FFT game mechanics here: The Battle Mechanics Guide

EDIT EDIT: Okay, I fail.
Go here and click on Battle Mechanics Guide.
Sylphas2005-11-16 09:36:32
-grin- Already have at least twice, but I'll brush up on it a bit because that was a couple years back.

EDIT: Oh, and you can't direct link FAQs on GameFAQs. Have to link to the game page itself.
Shiri2005-11-16 09:36:58
Referer Link Error

On every single HTML page of GameFAQs is the following request:
Feel free to link to this page, but not directly to the FAQs..
You're seeing this error message because it appears that you're linking from an external site directly to one of the text files stored at GameFAQs. GameFAQs is not a free public file server. Bandwidth costs money, and when sites link directly to files stored on the site, it becomes both a financial and resource drain. We've tried asking, but some sites simply don't care, so now we've implemented a technical solution.

Your browser is reporting that you linked to a GameFAQs-hosted FAQ from http://lusternia.ire-community.com/index.p...80&#entry224095.

There are four possible reasons you are seeing this message:

You came from a direct link to a FAQ on GameFAQs from another site, and your link was properly blocked. See the paragraph above for why.
Your web browser is passing improper URL data in the Referrer header. Your web browser may be over-compensating for a mistake you made in the address bar, and passing this information unintentionally. To fix this, just click the "Home" link on the left and surf normally.
Your web browser is passing forged URL data in the Referrer header. Some browsers can be configured to hide referrer information, but instead of passing a blank header, it passes a forged one. To fix this, change your browser's security settings. If you are using Opera and having problems, try viewing this page for some pointers.
You are behind a firewall or proxy server, and it is passing forged URL data in the Referrer header. If you are using one of these services, you or your network administrator may need to change the configuration.

EDIT: Well, if Sylphas got there, I guess the problem is on my end? Meh. dry.gif

Bah, ninjaed.
Unknown2005-11-16 09:50:47
I'd be happy to moderate a match of that, having played forum-FFT a few times myself.

The most complicated part in my opinion is the grid-map for the terrain (it'd be easier if we had fixed-width fonts for the forums.)

The math is just some various multiplication for damage, and a percentile random number generator for chance-to-hit/affect/critical type things.

You can do fixed width, with code tags.

Also, my BMG link works now, I posted it wrong I think dry.gif

Due to many of you in this thread saying it was cool, I went out and rented Kingdom hearts....

Damn you people! I don't need a bloody obsession like that right now!!!

kingdom hearts is that good? I might fork out the 10 bucks to buy it then.
