When you all go to work every day with the exception of the weekend, you will have reason to moan about going back to school after 6 weeks off.
I wish I was still at school...

I get one day off every week. I'll be going to school 5 days a week (working 8 hours on 3 of those days), working 1 8 hour day on the weekend, with one weekend day off each week for the next three years of school.

Right now, I'm in the midst of a 7 day stretch of 8+ hour days without a day off, or 12 days with 1 day off.

Pah, when I was in TAFE I was doing 10+ hour days sometimes, then working from 2 am to 6 am. Whingers .
Nayl2005-08-17 06:21:29
I concur, Quidgiboo.
Whingers, the lot of you.
10+ hours at Tafe, 10 hour shifts at work, every third day has one or the other off.

So glad for labor laws and unions here. Only 40 hours a week.
Veonira2005-08-17 06:37:35
geez. The most I ever worked during school was 8 hours on saturdays and sundays, and little dinky 5 hours shifts at night a couple nights a week.
I still don't know if I'm getting a job during college. I don't know if I'll have time, but I only have about $1000 saved, (and $1000 for my Germany/World Cup trip, which doesn't even look like it'll be enough to pay for a plane ticket at the moment). But my first day of classes is August 31st, *weep*.

When did you two sleep, and what were your 10+ hour jobs?

You can't buy a plane ticket with $1k? What the hell are you doing, trying to buy the whole plane? That's insane.
Veonira2005-08-17 16:30:47
Well I looked up flights from Philadelphia to say, Munich, for next June, and all flights cost from 970 to 1200 Their average has definitely gone up $200, I think I saw something about that on CNN.
Sylphas2005-08-17 18:05:38
Wow. That's outrageous. Good luck finding something cheap.

I'm flying to Denver sometime in the vaguely near future, and Qantas, the BIG Austrailian airline charge $2219 minimum for a return fare.
The person paying for the ticket reckons he can get me one for $1300 US, return Sydney to Denver, but we'll see.
Plane travel is damn expensive in this country, and our dollar's not as nice.
