If you sway Faethorn, aren't all the fae/guards loyal to Mother Night instead of Faethorn?
And I do agree that it isn't very fair - I think the Fae should accept honeycakes even from enemies. I mean, c'mon, it's HONEY. The Fae are like Pooh when it comes to honey. Or Glomdorians should have some kind of (temporary) quest or something to unenemy themselves to Faethorn.

Heh... my opinion on this is that the ONLY thing that has changed is that Glomdoring will have a much harder time gathering Champions, to the point where it is now impossible to ever win.
There will STILL be bloodbaths (Serenwilde killing enemies in Faethorn, etc.), we STILL have to stage a raid just to enter Faethorn in order to try to get unenemied, in order to collect fae... and now we have to collect them by sharing the same limited number of honeycakes that Serenwilde does.
It was balanced earlier, in my opinion (with the numbers both organizations now have). Serenwilde held Faethorn for far longer periods of time, but could gather fewer fae per hour on average. Glomdoring was able to control it for very short periods of time, but could amass a large number of fae.
Now, the amount of time each organization can gather fae is going to be the same (except maybe a few Serenwilders will say "Oh, the fae aren't dying, we don't have to go defend any more, yay!), and both gather at the same speed. If the two organizations had the same numbers, it would finally be balanced, but we do not.
Ah well. This change should have happened a long time ago, before both sides got entrenched in the "HATE EACH OTHER / KILL EACH OTHER" mindset, but it's far too late now, imo.

Glom A: This is so -unfair-! We have to get enemy status to get Fae
*change made so Glomdoring can peacefully collect Fae*
Glom B: This is so -unfair-! We have to share limited resources now.

Well, this is certainly a good change for Serenwilde, now Glomdoring can't collect any Fae anymore at all...since literally everyone is enemied.
Getting unenemied does cost 150K gold, and can only be done when Faethorn is neutral. When Faethorn is under Moon's control, parleying Maeve can only get you unenemied to Moonspirit.

To my understanding Thorgal, Estarra has changed the process to where it is both easier and cheaper to get unenemied. I haven't checked this myself as I have never been enemied to Faethorn -but- lots of people have said that is the case. Have you verified?
Also, Faethorn is currently neutral. I realize this doesn't fix the problem of Maeve representing Mother Moon (which is a bug, I think... I'd much rather have Albion do this) when Faethorn is under Mother Moon.
Lisaera2005-08-07 11:31:46
No it's not a bug, Maeve is meant to unenemy people to Moonspirit when Faethorn is under the sway of Moon, and Night when under the sway of Night.

Funny, I tried to tell several players from Glomdoring this all along, but was shouted down about how imbalanced it was. All I have to say now is be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.

So uhh... all you have to do now to ensure Glomdoring can never get a single champion up, and thus not stand a chance to get Faethorn under its reign, is guard Maeve.
Which you're obviously already doing.
So no.. unless we get a fair start by unenemying us to Faethorn, since we've been forced to get enemied by game mechanics, I do not like this change..at all. In the whole Faethorn conflict, we wouldn't stand the glimps of a chance, ever, without Magnagora. Which really isn't fun, for Serenwilde nor Glomdoring.

I agree that the enemy rolls should be simply wiped with this change.
As for the change itself, it's a positive step, but way too little, way too late.

No, game mechanics would be joining the Glomdoring and being auto-enemied to the Faethorn - it was your decision to do that quest.
I agree, it's cruddy, but they didn't unenemy people from Nil for the whole Tainted Fae thing, I don't see why they'd start now.
Nyla2005-08-07 18:18:00
Let me explain this for you
In order to be unenemied to Faethorn it must be neutral.
To get Faethorn neutral Glomdoring has to gather Fae
You cant gather Fae enemied to Faethorn meaning we cant muster Champions to get Faethorn neutral
Thus we cannot get unenemied

No. The taintable Fae in Faethorn are always loyal only to Faethorn; the Fae Knights are loyal to night or moon spirit.

Sheesh, so much misinformation. I was hoping people would actually figure out how things are now, but since there seems to be an obstinate refusal to gather facts, here are the salient ones:
1. Faethorn is now neutral (including all fae guards, etc.).
2. Queen Maeve is currently accepting very low (or relatively low) sums to grant full pardons to Faethorn enemies. I suspect its somewhere in the 10k-15k range (depending on the influence skill of the person parleying or diplomats parleying on behalf of another). Certainly, I agree this is burdensome to the average person but not massively so.
3. Fae will accept honey cakes from everyone, whether or not they are enemies.
Hope this clears things up.

Damn, its a good job gold isnt an issue for me or I'd be really annoyed. I parleyed her for 50k just to be safe and then attack a fae knight that was attacking a commune mate and got re-enemied

Marsu2005-08-07 20:35:50
Well, I misunderstood and was trying to use blackened cakes on regular Faethorn fae Sorry!
Figured out what the problem was a while ago, just before we went into Faethorn today.
