New Changes

by Shorlen

Back to Common Grounds.

The new changes, especially the undocumented ones, have done a lot for balancing it, although the reasons for raiding are not yet diminished as far as I can see.

Edit: Or rather, as it isn't officially our territory, I spose I should say the potential for conflict hasn't diminished.

But I like this! Thanks!

QUOTE(Phred @ Aug 9 2005, 09:47 PM)
If somebody really wants to stop the war, I'd suggest somebody create a planar rift in or near an Aetherplex manse--dunno if they work in manses--then make a run to grab all the fae with honeycakes, then lock everybody out of the manse and give the fae control over their own destinies.

I don't know if any fae spawn until some are taken out of the pool and given to whoever takes them.  If it's true they don't spawn until some are removed...bam, instant end to the war...

Richter, don't you want denziens in Deepnight?  biggrin.gif

Or maybe not...

If you drop a Fae outside of it's native area it will just sit around for awhile and then reset back to it's home. I used to steal Fae with honeycakes and release them inside the Ebonglom for awhile. wink.gif

I think Maeve's sylvan woods are a nice RP choice, i.e., wild fae woods that must be somewhat tamed or influenced to be sympathetic towards any particular druid.

...

(sorry if that pisses Serenwilders off but that's just the way it is).

It's never enough just to change something subtly, is it. Now Hartstone DOMINATE and TAME the wild fae. Wonderful.

The change itself in mechanical terms is good. But... depressed.gif

Not taming, per se. Just sort of gently pushing them in the right direction. And you're 'taming' the wild forests, not the Fae themselves.
Elryn2005-08-09 23:04:43
I propose a name change. Serennice, the forest that tones down real Forests.

It's up to you how you want to roleplay this, but, cripes, why blow everything out of proportion and obsess upon a fragment of one sentence I post on the forums. Note I offered that one could choose to RP that the sylvan woods are "tamed" or "influenced to be sympathetic towards" any particular druid--which (I think) is fairly open-ended on the RP possibilities. Certainly, it doesn't mean that there couldn't be other ways to RP melding a sylvan forest location.

Stop whining, you're ticking off Estarra.
Jairdan2005-08-09 23:17:00
Elryn blows -everything- out of proportion. He's -still- making threads about how awful Shadow Faelings are for the RP of the game.
Unknown2005-08-09 23:17:29
And when Estarra gets ticked off, Soulless gods develop the odd habit of breaking out and eating entire forests.

And cheese is made from the curdled remains of small children.

Anyway, nice changes I spose, well done smile.gif.
Elryn2005-08-09 23:23:35
Meh, I'm just bitter with the trend of alterations. And don't tempt me to bring up shadow 'faelings' again.

IT IS?!?!? Nooo, and I like eating it so much!!
Lisaera2005-08-09 23:31:43
I think certain people need to stop taking the official descriptions of things as the be all and end all of them. Firstly, we do not have TIME to think about every possible ramification of every word we use, secondly, wouldn't it be really boring if we told you exactly how everything should be RP'd and taken by every organisation? What's the point of that?

Might seem that way but I really don't think any new roleplay will come out of the changes. At least not in a "put a leash on the fae" sorta way.
Sylphas2005-08-09 23:37:47
I think it'll be interesting. It's means Serenwilde isn't "right" and everyone else "wrong" when it comes to forest and nature now. While that might be terrible to some people, I find that direction much more interesting.

We'll still by right in Laneth's mind. We're always right, or at least less wrong than everyone else. Heh.
Corr2005-08-09 23:41:29
I didn't know that ever was the case.

Based on what the gods said to Serenwilde it sounded to me like Serenwilde was always right to Serenwilde and the gods associated with it, but was not objectivly True. Just like the four cities are all right in their own little ways.
Sylphas2005-08-09 23:43:19
True. We're still right. We just always had the default forest type, and the only other was tainted forest, which was bad. Now there's a type that's not evil and twisted, etc, etc, but isn't ours, and we can't make it.
