How about... solitaire!
You'd probably want a game you can play by yourself too.

Meh. The Lusternian staff has some of the most creative MUD admins I've seen, I'm sure they can come up with a unique game If they're too busy, I could see what I could come up with... *shrugs*

I just had the most brilliant idea ever - let's turn the Faethorn battles into a chess competition!!!

Wait, how many Queen Maeves can you place in Faethorn without any of them putting any of the others into check?

I'm getting..... 25? I think.

Did you really actually go and figure it out, Shorlen?
If so, will you marry me?

I'm such a geek...
My placing isn't necessarily optimal though - let me draw it up on a map. Just put them where they seemed to steal the least territory.
Edit: Aha! I have 31 now, can any bored Faethorn guardian do better?

That would threaten the one west and south of the well... Oh, you edited.

Maybe that's the best proof of the "ethereal boredom" problem to which the topic alludes. Get them a chessboard stat, before Shorlen calculates the topological genus of Faethorn!

Hee, sadly, a chessboard wouldn't really help terribly much. It would some, just not enough. Need something more substantial. Go would really help, if the admins don't actually want to make up a game. Now *there's* a game that interests me Still, the card artifact is the best idea so far that I have heard, and not one that takes much coding.
And what's a topological genus? Never heard that term before.

i think it has to do with math realating to how many paths there are from one object to another, but i'm not shure. yes, go would be really fun
or perhaps we could just get the ability to write on the cards that we can craft in arts. and dye them, so we could have a set of cards and make up our own game to play with them. hmm, that gives me an idea if anyone else is looking to play a game in ethreal next time? cause i'm getting bored sitting here now.
EDIT: hmm, i've just made me some cards, i think it'd be good if there was someway we could dye the cards different colours, or write a number on the card,also, it would be best if the cards weren't separated by the amount by the markings, like how vials aren't separated and you must examine each card to check the difference(unless you have elixlist) or really good if there was a command saying how many of each card we had in our invetory. such as:
CHECKCARDS
you have;
1 blue card
1 red card
3 yellow cards
1 gold card
or,
CHECKCARDS
you have;
1 card marked with a one
2 cards marked with a three
or,
CHECKCARDS
you have;
a card with two blue dots
a card with four red dots
a card with one red dot
and then we could just drop cards and give them to other players and things to play a game.
it'd also be good if we could make a playing card deck, so we could put these cards in.
but i doubt anything would happen, even though i think this would be the simplest solution.

I don't think one could possibly get more off-topic, so let me just offer you this:
http://www.shef.ac.uk/nps/Wurble.html
http://www-groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~histor...athematics.html
http://planetmath.org/encyclopedia/GenusOf...calSurface.html
The last one defines genus, but I think the earlier ones will be more digestible.
tsaephai2005-08-14 00:22:25
hmm, should i post that in the cards thread? i don't think it would take too much more programming for cards to be dyed, and possibly for a checkcards command.(checkcards could work just like elixlist except with dyed cards)
