I just had an idea for a unique event for the arena. It's a "last man standing" event more in line with how the old Roman Empire games used to function. Basically, you'll get people in the arena and not only will they be pitted against each other... they'll be pitted against mobs ranging from weak to powerful. What this will do is add more excitement to the arena. Will some players duke it out alone? Will some team up to survive? If they team up, will they backstab their partner? Not only this, but perhaps the mobs could also give real experience for the participants (albeit not too much). What this will do is encourage people to participate as well. What's more fun that being pitted against both player and monsters for experience and fame? If anyone else has comments or ideas to add to this, feel free.

That sounds neat. And is really flexible. Like, you could do a "who runs fastest?" game of that, where you just drop in angry tracking Luciphage and see who lasts the longest.
Ceres2005-08-13 13:27:04
A game which only knights can win.
Fun.
Fun.
Sylphas2005-08-13 13:56:49
Sure. It's not like you can't staffpoint from 10 rooms away while they're fighting a bunch of mobs and kill them that way.
Unknown2005-08-13 14:02:09
We'd need flying ones, too. And taintwyrm-esque mobs!
Galatae2005-08-13 15:07:13
Sounds fun! I'd participate, and I'm not one to get into many arena-type events.
Marcalo2005-08-13 17:30:44
i suggested somthing like this in aetolia, but yes, this would be REALLY fun.

If mobs are to the level in scaling up when them and a hartstone staffpoint will put a decently levelled warrior in danger, you will already have been killed by them.

Not if I'm in the trees.

Reminds me of the time in Achaea where our village's patron decided to have some fun. First, we tried all of Eleusis against Aegis, the God of War. That didn't go do well. Then we tried all of Eleusis against the gender-confused dragon, whatever his/her name was. That didn't go so well either. Then we tried all of Eleusis against two Ur'Vampires. That didn't go so well either
By 'all of Eleusis,' I mean, all who were on at the time, which was not nearly enough
But yeah, it sounds fun, and certainly workable.

Hehe! I remember dying to those! *reminisce*
It would be fun having a sort of super mob to hunt in the arena as well.

The mobs would obviously track into the trees, or the game would just not end if anyone swung up.
Sylphas2005-08-13 19:30:00
So I could run through my demense with nasty aggro mobs in pursuit, while others are getting snagged by briar walls, paralysis, and embedded stupidity?
Ceres2005-08-13 21:29:49
The game's not being implemented, so the point is moot.
Terenas2005-08-13 23:28:15
Meh. Edited.
Revan2005-08-14 00:43:55
Wow Ceres, who made you a Divine all of a sudden? You have no choice whethr or not this can or can't be implemented. In any case, you've obviously never seen guardians and mages bash. I don't realy see how "only knights can win" this. Expand your horizons... that or stop being so narrowminded. Perhaps instead of bashing an idea, offer some changes to *gasp* make it better?

Right. If you're truly interested, like Revan said, then throw in some real feedback or at least something to support it. If this type of the game is a problem for you then add a set of teams (Blue, Red, or perhaps animals/whatver) and have them square it off against their super-being with a limited set of auto-rezzes per person and whichever team clears out their enemy or knocks down their strength in enough time is the winner.
Of course not everything is about winning.
Ceres2005-08-14 10:21:19
Get back to me in a month and see if the game's been put in.
It won't have.
It won't have.
Sylphas2005-08-14 17:54:58
99% of the things on this board are never put in. Why bother reading it if that's your attitude, Ceres?
Gaetele2005-08-15 01:10:00
My respect for Revan just went up slightly.
