He was incredibly visible, and active, and talking to mortals, at the time.

Ah well then.... Why would a God visible in the area not do something about a dreamweaver? That would just be silly.
Jairdan2005-08-16 09:48:14
I've got to agree. If the God is visible and active.. why in the hell wouldn't they spot and spank a dreamweaver? Why should they have to ignore something ICly?
Yrael2005-08-16 09:58:37
Regardless, good idea? Bad idea?
Unknown2005-08-16 10:36:03
I'm not sure really... Dreamweaving as it is is already quite limited in what it lets you do, and if you give every average player an attack against dreambodies, that'd make the skill fairly useless I think. Being able to sneak around with little means to effectively stop you IS pretty much the main advantage of the skill.
And yes, Shikari has made very clear how much he despises Dreamweavers butting in, so it's no surprise he's not pleased.

Um, I was dreamweaving at the Ravenwood when Shikari appeared, said one thing to Nyla, and then went and killed me. I didn't walk into His conversation. Come on, you can't tell me He didn't know I was there before appearing. I get why he killed me, its a threat having enemies illusioning at your nexus and as was becoming apparent there was some bug involved but oh no, kill me for an error.
Anyway, I'm not really annoyed at Shikari (though I was the next time he killed me, or maybe the time after, I can't remember) - he tries hard and interacts well with most people, I'm just frustrated that dreamweaving is sort of pointless. There are now multiple ways of spotting dreamweavers, its always been pretty much guaranteed you can ignore an attack if you know what you're doing, and they beefed up violet damage to the point that Marsu (admittedly a Mugwump) deals 2.7k every 6 seconds. Now any god with a motive can simply stop spying on whatever they're doing by turning up.
As always, my frustration is driven by mistaking potential for reality. It'll pass quickly. And yes, keep doing what you're doing Shikari, we need more active gods like you and Lisaera... just let Elryn be naughty once in a while.

Marsu arrives from the north.

Marsu tilts his head curiously.

Before the Master Ravenwood Tree.
The stars twinkle in the clear night sky. The dark heart of Glomdoring Forest
is almost audibly beating in this, its shadowy centre. Tall, blackened trees
surround this clearing, pressing together into an imposing barrier of rotten
vegetation. Moulds and fungi are smeared across the plants, their pungent
stench suffusing the forest. The branches are coated in dark slime, slick
tendrils that hang downwards. Although a variety of trees might actually grow
here, the black tar that coats them renders them indistinguishable. A thin
black mist creeps between the trees, hanging low across the ground. The floor
of the clearing itself is simply bare earth, cracked and dry. Overshadowing all
is the Master Ravenwood Tree itself, jutting into the sky like a twisted fist.
Of the rest of the plant, there is no sign. The sound of laughing crows echoes
down from the treetops, a harsh sound for the ears below. The atmosphere
vibrates with a palatable power. Brennan Stormcrow paces here, his cadaverous
body twitching with sudden jerks. An animated skeleton stands here with a
ghostly outline of a bat around its skull. An animated skeleton stands here
with a ghostly outline of a spider around its skull. An animated skeleton
stands here with a ghostly outline of a beetle around its skull. An animated
skeleton stands here with a ghostly outline of a wasp around its skull. The
Master Ravenwood Tree towers over everything here, pulsing with immeasurable
and dark power. There are 9 enormous black crows here. Casting darkness all
around, a shadow totem thrusts up from the ground, chilling the air. Thousands
of small black spiders swarm over the marble shrine here, burying it in a
venomous mass. There are 21 dark nighthags here. A sigil in the shape of a
small, rectangular monolith is on the ground. There are 3 swarm of locusts
here. There are 4 shadowlord widowriders here. His sinister red eyes constantly
moving about the area, a shadowlord pauses here. A hemlock sapling clings
tenaciously to the ground here. Master Nyla, Keeper of the Black Nest is here,
sprawled on the floor. He wields a mystic cudgel in his left hand and a large
darksteel round shield in his right. Marsu Aurendil, the Talons of Crow is
here. He wields an iron shield in his left hand and the Black Cudgel of Mighty
Crow in his right. Ravenous Seron Xandul is riding on an enormous black crow.
He wields a golden sickle in his left hand and a mystic cudgel in his right.
Shikari, the Predator stands here, His form emanating pure, primal fury.
You see a single exit leading north.

Oh, and one more thing... never let it be said that all Serenwilde characters are ignoring possible compromises. Just about the only use of dreamweaving (apart from amusing illusions ) is in being able to negotiate in enemy territory, so, I tried negotiating a few times with Glomdoring.
Little Elryn was attacked and violently assaulted every time. Aww, poor widdle guy. Guess its not just the one side that doesn't want 'peace'.
