Don't take me wrong! I love the idea of book binding. I am just a bit worried!
I am wondering if there are perhaps too many? Perhaps let us be able to choose a secondary tradeskill with some limitations?

Second you can only learn to Master? That would work for me.

Finding a skilled (whatever) is sooo hard with the number of players currently in Lusternia =\\ We have 0 active trans tailors in the Serenwilde, no trans poisoners (I think), and maybe one trans artisan? A few cooks, but we have an IC reason for needing those. We might have more than one trans jeweler, I don't know.
My point is, finding people to make stuff for you is a pain, with two new trades added so quickly, it'd be so lovely if there was a way for someone to take on a second trade or something.... I don't know....
But thank you for the books! I'm so happy
Vix2005-08-15 03:55:27
Alnra isn't trans if you're talking about her.
But you're right. I'm always having trouble finding people with transcendent tradeskills.

Uh... minus forgers. There are about 10 of us Trans in Seren alone.

Really? With everyone jumping on trades I thought it'd be more. I'm considering Transing the new one, but I want to see how many will take it prior to doing that.
Terenas2005-08-15 04:11:04
I think a lot of warriors here still correlate knights with forging. Not to mention Fullplate and runes are just awesome to have. Many of us would never forget Forging.
Suhnaye2005-08-15 04:12:07
I've always intended Suhnaye to be a historian/bookworm, so I jumped at Bookbinding the second it came out.
As for there not being enough trans traders... Maybe... But I don't think its a terribly bad thing, it makes it so they get payed more for their wares, and it makes them more sought after... It helps everyone with a propper trade skill that people want things from.
It does cut the supply of nessicary things down a good bit, but I don't know that its too difficult to find the nessessities, Alchemy, Enchantments, Cooks, and Forgers are fairly popular its always seemed.... More than likely Alchemists and Enchanters are going to be getting even more popular now that they're tied into Bookbinding... The less popular trades, Tailoring, Jewelry, Poisons, are workable even if the person is not trans, having the tradesperson Trans is a luxury, not exactly a nessessity, though Jewelry I agree they have to be trans or their prices are terrible.
As for Herbs, I know there are plenty of herbalists, they just tend to keep to themselves more'r less.

I'm extremely tempted to take Bookbinding, but I just finished a shiny new Alchemy system... -sigh-
Suhnaye2005-08-15 04:28:50
I had Alchemy, its awsome if you need gold or potions a lot, but I seldom hunt anymore, and Suhnayes a passifist, so no combat, so its just gold to me, and its not even that since I never hurt for gold...
Alchemy is going to be extremely usefull to bookbinders I've a feeling, so you oughta stick to it

Secondary tradeskill! Oh, how I would love to have that!
Edit: But perhaps only make it so that you're not able to take two skills like alchemy and herbs at once..

Joli2005-08-15 05:37:27
I want two tradeskills! There's no way I'm dropping Artisan right after I got it..
Unknown2005-08-15 05:40:50
The idea of a secondary trade could work if it was thought out really really well. For example, don't allow transing two trades, don't allow complementary trades such as Alchemy and Herbalism to both be taken, don't allow Alchemy and Enchanting to go together, etc.
Sylphas2005-08-15 06:07:28
I still say if you can Trans one, Master another, it doesn't matter what your second trade is.

Alchemy and Enchanting compliment each other?
I thought it was enchanting and jewelry. -is confused-

No I mentioned those two together because they were designed to be city or commune exclusive, is all.
