I concur.

Bye Conglutinate. sad.gif

Oh bugger I forgot about Planar...I was so close to transing it too.

I hope everyone enjoys the skill! It turned out to be one of those projects that is taking much longer than expected. I actually wanted to finish this project two weeks ago so we could move on to other things, but no matter how hard I cracked the whip, sometimes things go at their own pace. whip.gif

Just to let you know, part of the reason we've focused on this new system is because of a demand we saw from players. The design will not only provide books and libraries, but a system that impacts cities and communes that have nothing to do with PK as well as providing a method for players to contribute histories, theories and even literature in a somewhat official manner.

This is what I'm really curious about, I want to know how much fiction is about to be allowed into there and what we will need to get 'approved' and so forth...I'm getting antsy waiting.

Thank you. Thank you so much. I was really pretty close to leaving Lusternia. I don't think I will be for quite some time now. Thank you so, so much for what you're doing with the libraries. Thank you.

And to think I had to yell at you on gts to get your attention. I was thinking, "Oh crap.. I'm gonna be the one that gets the library and Rhysus will never be happy with me again."

I don't believe I've ever seen Rhysus so happy before.

Disclaimer: As we implement the system, it is always subject to change. But, if you want to get started, this is how it will probably work: There's two categories we'll be looking at once every 3 game years: (1) scholarly (histories, cultural treatises, etc.) and (2) literary (ballads, short stories, etc.). Every city and commune may submit one entry in each category (so I assume there'll be a bit of competition within each city and commune on the entries) and the divine will choose the best work from each of those two categories (so there'll be 2 winners every time).

Note that winning entries do NOT benefit the individual (except for whatever prestige or fame is garnered), but will benefit the city or commune. The bardic contest will continue to reward individuals and you may submit entries in both contests (or even submit older entries won in the bardics for this new cultural award contest).

So get writing!

Magic Ink costs 3300 gold.

It takes 10 to enchant a magic scroll.

So 33,000 for a magic scroll.

They had better be good. DAMN good.
Unknown2005-08-15 05:45:35
Woot. Just learned my mistake.

10 inks = 10 applications. 1 'ink' for an alchemist = 50-60 applications.
Unknown2005-08-15 05:45:38
Nevermind. Rexali just told be that each batch of magical ink gets you 60 applications, so they aren't expensive at all.

EDIT: Ninja'd.
Suhnaye2005-08-15 05:47:05
Whoa.... Umm... Yeah! I think thats for the initial crafting of them though.... Cuz then they can be recharged.... Probably for a low cost.... They're like uber-luxury items like really well enchanted Great robes, or Masterwork weapons and stuff.... They're like being able to sip two health people, thats a huge advantage in a fight... and they aren't consumed, which makes it so they aren't stopped the same way potions are

Hopefully blindness will stop you from reading, and slitthroat will stop you from reading to others.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up smile.gif. Should be some fierce competition, I just hope I get off my butt and put some of these ideas down on paper.

Don't you wish there was a way to plug your brain into a word processor and image software so you can capture exactly what you are thinking of, rather than trying to put it into words that don't seem quite right?

Uh.. I assume you mean a vial of 50 applications costs 3300 and a magic scroll costs 10 applications.

Ooops, did I just blow some bookbinder's gold scheme? ohmy.gif
Vix2005-08-15 05:55:31
Inks cost 3,300 gold? I need to start charging more! Last I charged them at 1400 to communemembers. :/
Sylphas2005-08-15 05:58:44
I need to get some gold. This is seriously expensive. Binding a whole library of books for Hartstone is going to cost a ton.
Unknown2005-08-15 06:02:26
Ergh yeah I'm poor too, I'm going to have to bug Shorlen for some gold if he wants me to make books for the Moondancers.

Have I ever declared my undying love to you?

If not, I'd like to make a formal declaration right about now.
