Your point being?
Centaubi was a Creator, so that's sort of logical and Agnomenon was a Thinker (which gives me a WTF moment as I would put him in Artists along with his brother).

Yay for speculations! *rally*
Let us carry on!

Centaurs were splintered from Centaubi. We know this for a fact. That's my point.

Hmmmmm, I see what you're getting at tongue.gif OK, my bad as I always thought that he just created them, being a Creator and such...

Well, in the Basin now, there doesn't seem to quite a clear distinction between the circles now. I doubt Fain is still considered to be of the First Circle, or that Raezon is still of the Fifth Circle.

I didn't mean this as some kind of generic "well, he kind of doesn't act like a circle now" so much as I mean it as I'd heard that he was specifically and specially excluded from his former circle in a way that other gods weren't. Either by his own choice or the choice of the others in near-unanimity or something. I wish now I remembered or could lay hands on what made me think that. But I'm sure it was a lot more unequivocal than just "he's kind of not always so second-circle-ish".

Malmydia is my favorite.

edit: mostly because she looks exactly like Aison should look. Except without creepy soullessy eyes.

That was what I was thinking, actually. Would be funny if Eventru recognized that... suspicious.gif

Edit: Was I the only one who noticed that Eventru was speaking normal throughout parts of that?

Really? I've yet to see Maylea pop out an animal like the quinotaurs like Charune has or Nocht start painting the skies pretty shades of yellow, but that might just be me. confused.gif

I think (at least, this is how I read it) that Caerulo was saying that even though the gods are still connected with their previous roles (i.e. Charune makes animals, Nocht is with his Awakened Spirit), the actual rigid structure of Soandso is in the Xth Circle, Thatguy is in the Yth Circle is now redundant, not just because we have anomalies like Elostian and Morgfyre, but also because the structure of the Circles that existed before the Elder Wars has essentially collapsed, and that imposing such a system is meaningless.

YES! Thank you for plucking thoughts out of my mind and putting them in words! I so often have trouble with that.

That's pretty much true. However, the Circles are pertinent for historical discussions of the gods and their backgrounds, even if the Circles don't exist per se in modern times. That said, even if the current Elder Gods aren't bound by their Circles, their proclivities, talents and interests certainly are based on their history (both ancient and modern).

I really detest Malmydia.
I wish someone bopped her in the face.
Ishant2009-02-09 07:40:01
I must be positively squeemish as I actually felt sick reading the yucky Malmydia playing with essence parts. This book is so much more intense than any other book so far, kinda glad Ish is all foresty and we have no mad/traitorous 6th and 7th circle gods yet (funny that!).
Unknown2009-02-09 07:44:22
I felt the same way when she messed around with the eyes/head/hole. Eeew.

Had this thought a few days back while taking a shower (I tell you cause it's relevant!)

If the Elder Gods where there and saw it all, how come neither of them can tell ANYTHING about what happened during the War? Hmmm?! (Besides the things that have been written the history books, naturally)

PS.
That part about it being relevant was a lie

I know I did other things when a little kid, but the only memories I really have are jumping into leaf piles and playing in them. As time goes by, you forget things, even though you know they happened. I do not think the Gods of Lusternia RP as perfect ones with perfect memory of time itself...a little hard to do that anyway if there are multiple.

Neither of them? Are there only two?

Anyway, it's not a point that they can't tell you anything, but they choose not to! Why would they want to recount extremely traumatic events of their lives with... ugh... mere mortals!

Clearly you threaten them with violent punishment if they spoil any of the juicy secrets.

Also, Thax is awesome.

Speculation here:

If when the Elder Gods consume Soulless essence, they become more Soulless-like, does it mean that if a Soulless consumes the essence of an Elder God(dess), it would become more Elder-God-like? Perhaps because Illith consumed so many Elder Gods, she manifested an imperfect soul, allowing her to fragment into the Illithoid? After all, the Elder Histories theorise that the Soulless and Elder Gods do not truly die, and as shown by Morgfyre, the consumees still 'live' in some way in their consumer.
Vionne2009-02-10 02:54:30
You should write a book about that theory, IG.

Please? Because it's a super-cool idea.
Shiri2009-02-10 02:57:02
That is actually the least terrible "illithoids have souls" theory yet.

To be honest, I didn't start out trying to explain why illithoid have souls. I was just wondering if the Soulless were as affected by ingesting Elder God essence as the Elder Gods were by ingesting Soulless essence. Illith just happened to be the most prominent possibility.
Eventru2009-02-10 03:47:22
My understanding was that Traitors were unable to fully digest the essence of other gods. Immanidivinus wasn't designed to consume, only to create. That's why Morgfyre got all many-voiced and ugly, while Soulless Gods just got more powerful.

I think. Could be wrong. Not something I dwell on.
