This is more speculative than anything else, but does anyone else wonder why Malmydia specifically ordered Clangorum to fashion Thax's exoskeleton out of zingavium? Was it because only zingavium was potent/magical enough to hold him, or was it foresight on her part? ("Thax is our muscle, ergo if we can bring him back we want him as well-defended as possible. Zingavium's the most impenetrable metal, so we'll make him out of that.")
Razenth2009-02-23 06:28:55
It seems her words make it clear that Thax was the mightiest of the Traitors, and that thus she wanted to ensure that he wouldn't be blown to bits again.

I was left with the impression it was zingavium because it really was the best you could get. As it was written, a shield of zingavium was the best protection and the blade of zingavium was the best weapon. They needed to pour liquid essence goo into a shell and I'm not fairly certain it wasn't a common practice, heh . Also wouldn't call him the mightiest of the Traitors right away, that was not the reason why he had to survive. It was important to keep him alive because him dying would mean that Fain's project has failed... and He sort of made it rather clear that it's not an option.

As completely a comment of my own opinion, I think it may also have to do with what was seen with Orclachmar: Any weapon he wielded rotted in his hands. Could be zingavium was the only metal that could withstand the essence of Orlachmar without decaying, as asking Clangorum to special make an armour like he did Orlachmar's weapons just wasn't feasible - it would probably ruin their secret society.
Or, it's super powerful armour, and that means he wouldn't be back in her mound any time soon.

All right, this has been bugging me for weeks:
Is Maeve a Awakened Spirit or a Collective Spirit? Or both?
See, she had to be awakened by a huge ritual, much like most Awakened Spirits are. The Sixth Circle was involved.
However, she was the Collective Spirit of the fae. She spoke in one voice with the other fae, and Bollikin, a Seventh Circle Divine, was the one who had the most experience with it, so I'm assuming that this is a characteristic of Collective Spirits. The Seventh Circle was involved in raising her as well.
What makes it more confusing is that even if she is a Collective Spirit, she is the collective spirit of lesser awakened nature spirits.
And regardless of whether she is an Awakened or Collective Spirit, who was the Primary Awakener/Creator? Like Estarra mentions, even though most Awakenings are done with a large group, there is usually one Primary Awakener that 'imprints' their personality on the Awakened Spirit.

Whoever the primary Awakener was...god, if I ever find them in game, I will slap them and I know I'm not alone in that idea.

That was my primary incentive to figure out who the Awakener was too!

If it was anyone we already know about, my guess is Elfenehoala.

Oh good, more reasons to slap elves.
In all seriousness though, I do still want to know.

Sorry for the necro (just actually managed to find out what bleeping page the most recent book was on).
If you ask me, Malmydia is the bad guy that you're like "That's a sweet bad guy", and then when they finally get their comeuppance, you're like "YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! EAT THAT PUNK!!!! BOOOYAH!!!!" You can't help but sit there and grin as they get what's coming to them.
Anyways, these don't come out fast enough. Especially now that things are getting thick, although I think I'd prefer to wait a little bit and have them good, then get them now and have them be a pile of garbage.
Also, (apart from time as they're written) what IS required for them to be released?

I'm not sure there really is anything "required" for them to be released, but they've oriented a few of the past ones (Orlachmar and Krokano, as far as I know) around events going on at the time. Or maybe they waited until the events to release the books?
Unknown2009-03-30 04:08:03
What's needed for the books to be posted on the website along with the others?
I note that Krokano's still isn't posted in the histories section...

I enjoyed reading The Book of Krokano. To be fair, my expectations weren't even set on another book being released at all since I last played, so having a book to read when I came back was a welcome surprise.
Tekora2009-04-14 17:36:58
You know, Raezon came back and as per the precedent of 'One new Book per new God appearance/old God reappearance.', I believe we are entitled to a new chapter now.
Unknown2009-04-14 21:10:33
Since when is that the precedent?
Not that I'd object to a new book!

No new god for the last book, no?
Tekora2009-04-15 15:31:31
For the most part, I've seen that Book releases coincide with new/reappearing Gods. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the process of becoming a full-fledged Divine requires an Eph to write a new chapter, which is then released soon before or after the God's debut.
Of course, I could be completely wrong. But I hope I'm not. I want a new chapter.

I don't think they'd be nearly as consistent as they are if it was done by a bunch of people like that...Estarra writes them all, I'm pretty sure.
Eventru2009-04-20 00:47:58
You see, we all sit in the Havens, passing around this amazing peace pipe with this special grass Estarra gets from this Elder God of the Third Circle, this crazy mediator who grows herbal remedies. Anyways, we take turns taking drags, and throw out whatever comes to mind. We then all get dressed up in tinfoil armour and outfits and get out the AD&D books and run a campaign, record it, and wala, you've got a new Elder Wars.

I don't doubt that one bit.
