There's your updated list o' Elders. Updated entries have been bolded. And with that done, I'm looking forward to seeing some Zhuge Liang vs Sima Yi-esque strategery and one-upsmanship between Morgfyre and Kalikai in the next chapter.

Maylea isn't on that list.

Unless Astral was created some point after that from 12 different cosmic planes being smooshed together into one higher vibration, they're not on Astral there.

"Logical," said Xyl grudgingly. "There are not many known ones, maybe a dozen."

So, uh... there's a possibility, at least. We don't actually know what the spheres on Astral are, yet. And what about that thirteenth rock in the middle of nowhere? Hmm...

(Hooray speculation)

I've updated the full list on the Lusternia Lore Wiki with the facts from this chapter.

For all the cool new revelations here, I'm surprised at how afterwards I feel I know no more about Elfenehoala than I did when I started. She writes in a very generic voice, and offers no insights about herself in her writing. Which is, perhaps, an insight itself, but not much of one.

Lendren is also tempted to ask Lisaera know why She was so down on his use of the Illusions skillset, insisting that it was never appropriate to use illusions deceptively, back when he was still in Her order... but probably that's just something I shouldn't look too closely at since it's just that the player of Lisaera didn't know this was going to turn out to be part of Her story at the time. Still, I wonder if some time later in these stories, Lisaera's going to come to think that even that use of illusions wasn't a good idea. That would be really cool for Lendren if it ever did turn out that way.

I doubt that is the case. I would not be surprised to find some bit of regret that her relationship with Fain was so defined by that use of illusions as an act of betrayal.
Razenth2009-12-01 21:42:09
There's a little rock in Astral only accessible from Aetherspace that was a location in a scaveger hunt.

Confused is I for the disparity. The Book of Aslarn noted someone named Lorella of the Seventh as the creator of the lions and yet the Book of Elfenehoala notes someone named Liliori of the Seventh as the creator of Great Lion. Typo or differentiation as both Elfenehoala and Lisaera seemed to make Moon?! D:

I guess the Basin of Life making up a third of the First World explains why everything important from ages past seems to have ended up here. Makes me even more eager to finally go outside of it, though.

Also, only about 90% of the important stuff is in/around the Basin.

Didn't Elfenehoala say it was both of them, we've only had singular elders attributed to awakenings but nothing to say that two couldn't have been.

Vortex being Fain's hideout is a possibility, as it further cements whatever conflict Hallifax and Gaudiguch have. Continuum is a dead plane, filled with geometric crystals (logic), while Vortex is an unborn creche, with illogical twisting patterns.

This is another good book, and yes, it seems Lisaera-Elfenehoala are tied so closely together. I also adore the Fain-Lisaera love. wub.gif

Or it cried and made a sea of acid tears, corroding even the most Kethuru-ish of all Soulless?

"We expand our members from 12 to 13," said Fain. "Soon we will grow to
even greater numbers. We have infiltrated several warrior cadres, and
all of the circles. Victory will be our price for saving the First
World. What price is victory? None is too great!"

Fun thought for the day: Soulless-powered Elder attack Artists. Weaponized fae, weaponized animals, weaponized... colors?

I keep imagining Evil Lyreth with an Enchanted Jumpsuit of Sensory Overload. Mostly I keep imagining Evil Lyreth.
