Are we allowed to post dirty limericks here? Cos I just wrote one about an Igasho and a faeling, and it isn't oblique at all tongue.gif

I don't know, but I want to see it. biggrin.gif

I just finished the Books of Xyl and Meridian... Gotta say, my mind was BLOWN! Absolutely incredibly well written and well done! The Book of Xyl was definitely my favourite!

About the implications of the Other, though... It's a bit strange to think about. Though I like to think of it as the Other doesn't necessarily "control" the adventurer (since I'm sure the adventurer has their own thoughts and feelings and the like, which can't REALLY be controlled by someone else), but rather the Other influences the actions that the adventurer makes. Said adventurer becomes a great person and the like, well, I'm sure that the Other had a hand in pushing the adventurer down that path, but ultimately I see it as the Other not making the FINAL choice, but rather putting the best idea on the table. Get what I mean?

My final thought, though, when reading this, is something very similar to when I finished the 7th Harry Potter book all those years ago: WTF do I do I look forward to now!?

Its ok. You're better off for it, really.

My limerick was supposed to be about the Other, but everyone latched onto the sex part. Ah, the life of the tortured artist.

It IS a limerick. They're meant to be dirty.

It was! It just tried to be less obvious about it and make you have to think to see it.

I didn't really consider the Other as something blatantly OOC. Unless you're a committed atheist, I think that most of us irl has had the sense that our lives were influenced by something greater and/or mysterious/unknown/unknowable, whether it's karma, destiny/fate, god, or whatever. I viewed 'the Other' as more along these lines. The only difference is that most of the time irl, we feel this gives more meaning to the things we do (e.g. "This must've happened for a reason." or "I guess I wasn't meant to do that." when something bad happens in our lives.), but in Lusternia, there's no significance/meaning imbued because 'the Other' is not invested in the game that is our (Lusternian) lives.

Also, kinda had an element of 'The Neverending Story' to it, which made me all nostalgic. :-P

As far as Others are concerned, I'm even more convinced now that most of my characters are going to simply ignore that bit of the book. One or two may embrace their Other, but for the most part even they'll be only my most erudite or my outright insane characters, and would only have a basic 'knowledge' at best.

I think it's all very interesting, and could lead to some really interesting writing, both critical and not. Like, upon ascension to Vernal Gods, did those mortals who'd gone through the portal lose that Otherness because Elder Gods were unable to enter the Portal? Or maybe Elder Gods were unable to enter the Portal because they already had this Otherness by virtue of something Dynara did when she created them? And maybe that's the reason Supernals and DL's are different than the Elder Gods? They never got to that Otherness-imbued point? It's all very interesting haha. I suppose I'm going to try to play actively again now. Damn you, really awesome stories.

We Elder Gods are far too cool to need Others.

I know there's a few people wondering when the whole histories will be on-line.

I saw a recent entry on Facebook asking people to test the forthcoming Lusternia web site revision, to test things like submitting and creating new characters. (Since they said it there, I guess it's okay to talk about here on the forums). You can read the entire saga here.

http://drupal.lusternia.com/content/elderwars

I guess we can test to see if the whole history is up. smile.gif

Reading through this stuff always makes me cry a little, and I remember exactly what I love so darned much about Lusternia. wub.gif Oh my goodness. I'm bubbling over with emotion.

If emotions are making you bubble, you should probably see a doctor. Or a ghostbuster.

Mad necro but what happened to Nemach the Souless? I re-read those parts but didn't find out his fate. Is he just stuck in the cage?

EDIT: Oh he's just romping around the void, ignore this post!

Totally not canon, but here's my take on it.
Eventru2011-11-29 16:11:18
More of Nemach's story exists, in so far as "what happened" to him, for those who remember and can put the pieces together. B)
