Village influenceing is just... wow, I love it so much. It's fun, it's hectic, and everyone can help in some way, no matter how experienced they are.
Between the Glomdorian raids on the Ethereal, Kronoes randomly yelling out names of denizens for no reason, and my keyboard batteries dying halfway through, there were frustrating times. Still, it was well fought on both sides
I do think though that the cities have an unfair advantage during peaceful influencing with their chanting =\\ Hopefully the suggestions in Terenas's envoy report will help that.
My favorite idea is for a Coven skill that channels ego from the members of the Coven to the leader. Not a copy of the chanting skill, hard to control who is benefiting (just the leader), but it still is something to help, and a way for shattered people and near-novices to help. -shrugs-

I don't think shattered people should be able to help; the point of it is that they are stopped from assisting for some time.
Besides that, I agree, and I like the idea of the coven members channeling their ego. Perhaps if they don't break away from the coven before they hit 0 they get 'overdrained' and shattered.

Agreed! It really was bloody good fun, although me getting debated out by Singollo looked kinda random (not complaining! ). It gives another dimension, for lack of a better word, to influencing and remove the feeling of uselessness combat-inept people get when fighting is involved.
I love it!

Yeah, but making and joining Coven needs to be possible during peaceful village influencing =\\ We can only make and join outside the village, which is a pain.
Thinking about it, the real problem is that Kaervas is overpowered. Nerf him!

I kind of thought it was boring, for one of several reasons.
Shattered ego is not fun, although I understand why it needs to be there. I can't think of an alternate solution right now so I won't offer one.
Debating is kind of like rocks paper scissors shoot with defenses. And I could sit there switching mindsets and be able to win without much effort. If you're on the offensive, you have to -predict- what your enemies' mindset is going to become. You are blindly guessing in a sense. (I understand exceptions such as people using certain patterns exist, but you get the point.)
Also, I feel like I spent most of the time -looking- for stuff to influence than actually influencing. That isn't quite my definition of enjoyment either. Overall it was okay I guess, but I'll be looking forward to the villages where crusade and sanctuary is usable.

I had to say, that was pretty spammy but fun. The only major complaint I had was the experience lost when someone debated you out and the denizen then hits you with an ego attack.
And like others said, could we somehow balance the playing field? Ego regeneration due to Light is like 50 every 7 seconds, while Leititia is like 700 to 800 ego every 4 seconds. Not to mention those already debated out can still chant.

Sniff.. tweaking some influencing stuff in a bit. It was fun, but losing some debates really made me want to push harder. Now all I need is something to influence for experience beyond guards (Or just get a harmony blessing) so I can expand on my giant ego and take revenge next time.
It was great fun though! A lot of close calls for everyone.

What!? No I'm not!!
Anyway, yes, apart from needing to nerf Kaervas (muaha) and buff moonlight, which is in the envoy I think, because it SUCKS, that was fun. Peaceful influencing is so much better than war influencing.

Light also takes three people to do, and a coven, and coven can't be formed or modified while in a peaced village.
Ixchilgal2005-08-17 04:48:36
On a similar note, Mindlink needs to be made non-hostile.
Shiri2005-08-17 04:50:29
And I don't like illusions anymore.
Terenas2005-08-17 04:55:14
Illusions shouldn't be doable if the Mage is graced or in a peaced village.
Veonira2005-08-17 05:02:50
I like influencing, but peaceful influencing gets boring. I really just wish debating took more thought and skill. I find that I either defend and randomly switch mindsets, or just go offensive and randomly switch styles. I'd like to at least feel like I'm not just going through the motions and have to think a bit. There has to be some other peaceful things to do that are more interesting.
Shiri2005-08-17 05:04:12
There is. Divert whoring! >_< (And yes, I do it too, shoosh.)

Yeah that's fun. Especially when someone's diverting for me and I get to pound on up arrow and enter. Good times for all.

Yeah, I agree about debating.. it really needs a slight boost to remove the mechanical feel (Maybe more styles and attacks? Or another alternative that used a bit more strategy).

Yes they should. Illusions aren't a hostile action, inherently.
It's not like it's difficult to check POLITICS when you see a message saying the village has been claimed.
Illusions just instill a good, healthy sense of paranoia.
Sylphas2005-08-17 14:58:14
And are another advantage cities have over communes. Not too much of one, but one nonetheless.
Tsuki2005-08-17 15:04:21
And, when you know you'll die in about 30 seconds once the peace spell or sanctuary from the influencing lifts, you're more likely to try to flee rather than waste time checking POLITICS.
