I noticed the Rugby talk, and I'm sittin here in my Wallabies jersey,
looking at the pansy 'football' tackles in the other thread.
I must say, those are -two- tackles which are EXTREME!!!111oneoneeleven for football.
Those were just a few random tackles from rugby.
Rugby is teh Psycho.
Football is for pansies who need padding on their shoulders.

I agree. But who wants to see a bunch of big black guys playing rugby?
I wanna see Aussie rugby. I bet it's crazy, like a bar fight, but better.
Lisaera2005-08-18 14:24:15
Damn right.
American Football, those guys may as well be wearing kevlar. In rugby, if you get hit by a 200 lbs guy running as fast as he can, you get up, and tackle him back.
Lions! ROAR!

I'm not a huge fan of the NFL (baseball's my game), or the Broncos or the Bucs, but:

Without Johnny, Lions are the suckage.
I'm going to the Wallabies versus Spring Boks game on Saturday.
Soooo Excited.

That's just pissant tackles. No excuses to slip off your man.
None.

The one guy was probably trying to strip the ball, but agreed. I'm sick of my Chiefs doing that all the time, heh.

I googled Rugby tackle.
Number One
Number Two
Now, I googled 'gridiron tackle', 3/4 the pic's on the first page... were jersey's.
AWESOME TACKLES.

That's because of the NFL's exclusive footage rights. Anything, other than college level football is not likely to be found without a dollar or two being paid, and college football is about as interesting as watching snails race. They tend to be more gentle with each other so they can make NFL level and get paid big dollars.

My Grandma tackles harder than that, and she doesn't wear four inch thick pads or metal helmets either!

And when she breaks a collar bone, she gets up, hits the other player back, and then walks off the field.
(Not that I've broken a collar bone, but I've been punched after a good tackle during my brief bout with rugby a few years ago.)
Manjanaia2005-08-18 19:14:29
Rugby leagues the game, union (English union at least) the just kick the ball at each other, but in union its just tackle, get up again, run, tackle, so on and so forth.
Murphy2005-08-18 22:52:51
yeh go rugby!!
I'm at least 250 pounds I guess (maybe even 300) and If a 200 pound man is running at me, he's gonna get a case of the smackdown!
That being said, no pansies play rugby thats for sure.

Nah, the bar fight comes later. They aren't drunk yet, so it doesn't count. Still awesome to watch, though. Like giant walls of sweaty muscle making things go squish. And some of the injuries are awesome. I remember from last nights episode of Sports Tonight that they sidelined.. er.. what's his name? For the rest of the season because of his eighth knee operation or something.

As for the 'Lions are good' school of thought, I have but five points to make.
1) Captain (O'Driscoll) injured off two minutes into first match of tour after an All Black tackled him. Not particularly hard, either. That was the official, independent citing authority's ruling on the incident.
2) All Blacks 21, Lions 3.
3) All Blacks 48, Lions 18
4) All Blacks 38, Lions 19.
5) 'The Lions suffered their first whitewash for 22 years as New Zealand completed a 3-0 series win in Auckland.'
I don't think I need to add anything else.

Shikari you had better not be a kiwi -mutter-
Unknown2005-08-20 23:33:29
A kiwi Divine?
I don't mind rugby as a sport, but here in New Zealand I get kind of sick of hard-out rugby supporters, which is a large percentage of the population. When the All Blacks lose a game I think domestic violence is happens twice as much or something for that night.
It's also kinda weird how more youth here play soccer than rugby, yet it seems like an invisible sport on a professional and popularity scale when compared with rugby.

What you fail to realise, Shikari, is your entire continent is just our dumping ground for the criminals and undesirables we don't have space for.
The All Blacks are basically a prison team.
