Back to Common Grounds.

As I understood it, it's not that Glomdoring thinks it's not Tainted, it's that it's not a hugely important issue to them. Being Tainted is a huge part of the Magnagoran cultural identity, and that isn't true in Glomdoring.

Viravain is the only one who truly can't see the Taint. For Her to be kicking people out because they don't agree with Her worldview is hugely self-destructive to the commune in the long and short term. I'm not suggesting that She become "snuggly", but I think that forcing people out is a very extreme reaction to be taking to a disagreement over something that Viravain supposedly thinks doesn't exist.

It really raises the question of whether Viravain is truly blind to the Taint, or whether She just refuses to accept its existence. Estarra supports the former, but such an extreme attitude towards it seems to suggest that She may have some knowledge that the Taint is real. Interesting dilemma, but ultimately it's only interesting at a distance, not for those in the commune.

Well, really, you don't HAVE to follow Viravain's lead. If you want to be a tainted commune, just declare yourselves so.

If She has a problem with it, kick Her out. Celest basically did it to Lacostian. You can too.
Ethelon2005-08-19 23:12:53
Well, if the Treerippers decide to go through with the Public announce, she has to deal with it or push 5 of Glomdoring's leaders out of position. Thing is, if we really think she would do such, it would hurt Glomdoring alot, which is not what we want.

You cant kick Viravain out. Shikari is there to protect Viravain.. and He preaches loyalty to Viravain and Himself.

GLomdoring is Lady Viravain's forest so its Her way or no way at all

Or what, she will wipe it out?
It's silly.
Daevos2005-08-19 23:18:53
Interesting dilemma but nothing is set in stone.
Silvenae2005-08-19 23:19:02
Well, even if you don't kick her out, you can still just ignore her. I mean, she can pitch a fit as much as she wants, but there's no way that she's actually going to be allowed to kick out the majority of the commune herself. Granted, she can disfavour you all and generaly make your lives miserable for awhile, but hey, she only has so much essence. tongue.gif

Yeah, -much- different from Shikari's calm, helpful, encouraging attitude.

Shikari wub.gif 's you! WUB!

Way I understand it, gods are here to help players, not the other way around. I don't believe that if a bigger group begins to claim Glomdoring is tainted she's gonna throw them all out. Even if she wanted to, Shikari would intervene perhaps? He's reasonable isn't he?
Gregori2005-08-19 23:23:18
Well looks like Serenwilde can kick back and let Viravain destroy Glomdoring for us. OOC I think it sucks. Glomdoring was just managing to pull itself together and BAM internal power structure kicks in and takes you right back to zero again.
Narsrim2005-08-19 23:26:51
I seem to recall Estarra giving Viravain full control over Glomdoring in the past...
Estarra2005-08-19 23:29:39
Has anyone paid attention to the farily large event wherein Viravain has emerged changed from a deep meditation with new insights? Maybe you should interact with her more and dig a little deeper before jumping the gun and declaring Glomdoring "ruined".
Unknown2005-08-19 23:31:12
If they wanted to remove Viravain they would also have to basically rewrite their teachings on Crow and Night, which would be a good thing IMO. I currently dislike them, personally. 'False Memory' just pisses me off.

But then again, most everything does.
Narsrim2005-08-19 23:31:32
That would require something like effort...
Ixion2005-08-19 23:32:10
Aurella would make an outstanding GM, when she returns, but too bad she wont be back for a while. sad.gif

Kaervas2005-08-19 23:34:11
I heard some guy's running for GA who GDF'd Marsu for telling a novice to read a GHELP file and didn't tell him about it. What the hell...

Yeah, apparently teaching now consists of pointing a single help file out.

2005/08/19 05:31:22 - Sobran guilddisfavoured Marsu for: when i say to report
to me the name of the novice you teach, i mean it.
Kaervas2005-08-19 23:39:48
Well it goes without saying the guild is screwed if this guy gets the position.
Narsrim2005-08-19 23:42:05
Hahaha
Ashteru2005-08-19 23:44:39
Well, i actually think that Aurella would make a good admin too. And I heard Arilyon wants to become champion, but I am not sure. And just force someone young who is easily controlled into the position of guildmaster. ninja.gif
