QUOTE(Thorgal @ Aug 20 2005, 09:38 PM)
Nyla actually did do a lot for the Blacktalon, just like he held a lot of commune events for the novices and lowbies as well.
And Narsrim, where on earth do you get the idea that Glomdoring would be capable of trampling over anything at all? First you write down post after post about how weak Glomdoring is, then you say we just like to trample over anything like the evil griefers we are, WTF is your problem?
Also, I wouldn't even mind Viravain suddenly popping up again after just abandoning the commune, if she wouldn't force people to step down from positions they earned and even leave Glomdoring entirely, we really can't afford losing even more capable people just for some weird ideas without any sense.
Lisaera roleplays too, Hajamin roleplays too, Shikari roleplays too, but they don't insist on ripping apart their city or commune with it, they're all just helping the ones they patron. And really, there's no point for Serens crying out their support for Viravain here, the bias just drips off of that. Then again, this is just at first sight, maybe Viravain's new ideas prove to lift up the commune again if we work with her.

Perhaps you are having a little difficulty separating the Serenwilde Character in the game Lusternia that actually cried out with no such support, and the real life opinion of the player about what is indicative of great role play?
Jadryga2005-08-20 12:58:01
Heh, the real life opinions of players whose main stores of experience come from Serenwilde. I think it's quite safe to classify them as "Serens".
Skyla2005-08-20 13:02:53
Well that certainly didn't improve the silence...
I'm sorry, Jadryga, I think you missed the point entirely.

Some Serens are not that into their characters that they can't believe in other things OOCly.
Soll2005-08-20 13:05:31
I'm gonna be the old guy and just say... I'm sure if you work with her, and do what she's saying, things will pick up. There's gonna be a reason why she just suddenly returns and does this, I bet, because I'm sure She knows it's not right to just come back out of nowhere and kick people out that've done work. Play with it, and see what comes. I'm thinking it's leading to something, and probably something good.
Although, from another Point of View my opinion could be wrong, and she's just screwing Glomdoring.![halo.gif](style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/halo.gif)

Though why She'd do that after everything....

If there's no difference between character and player opinion, there's no reason seperating them.
Skyla2005-08-20 13:17:13
Then someone should move this thread to idiots.
Didn't see the "If" in there, but I still disagree since in this instance there is a difference.

Jadryga2005-08-20 13:28:39
No, see... I think the reason we believe that it's player opinions that are mostly influenced by character opinions, is because some of the opinions themselves don't really sound neutral and objective. It could be the tone that's used. This is an ooc thread, there's no need for sarcasm and accusations and insults, since there's no need for us to maintain our affiliations. Yet the tone in which some of these opinions are given, are in the tone a Serenwilder would speak to a Glom (mainly disdainful and contemptuous, instead of neutral and polite). Which gives us the impression, that the opinions are from a real-life player, but influenced by Serenwilde experiences.
Note, not all of you are like that, but most of the vocal ones are.

I just read through this thread. some possibilities that i see are that Vira is trying to encourage this civil war in glomdoring possibly to get rid of the people who want it like a mini-mag(not that i'm saying it is or it isn't) because that might not be how it was intended to be.
Shikari might be taking over. the whole thing could be an event focusing on her bringing the commune to the brink when Shikari may step in and take over.
Also to those who think that they have the right to take full control over glom.
What the hell..?
Have you considered the what may be comming. if you were to declare yourselves tainted perhaps this could ruin a story of... (erm) Ackleberry reterning and having the chance to pledge to either you or seren. (i'm hope for something like this) Why would they pledge to a group that openly embraces the reason for them performing that one spell (hehe)
You joined Glomdoring remember that. The gods who are incharge know more than you, you can't just decide something especially if you created a character. just imagine your character grew up not believing that glom was tainted following Viras then one day they enter the portal of fate and suddenly they go around saying we're tainted.
and to cover my self... No offense (haha you can't hurt me for this now)

Well, as far as I see it right now, the main protectors of Glomdoring ALL see the taint and want to be rid of this Falsehood
Marsu
Arilyon (from what I heard)
Thorgal
Tharruk
Ethelon
Syrienne
Our Champions, main fighters and a great deal of others see this. Now should we, the stubborn fighters who have fought so long for where we are, have to agree with Viravain to appease her and start living this Falsehood?

erm my point (eww i have a point) is that you made these characters based on YOUR point of view, if your point of view is wrong then these characters are out of character and from the sounds of things these were made during Viras absence

The point of view these characters have is perfectly valid. In fact, "perceiving the Taint" is a quality of the entire rest of the basin and probably most non-sentient life as well, so for people to be able to do it in Glomdoring is not some bizarre occurrence that has no place in the IC world. It's there, if people want to pretend not to see it, they can, but as Shikari has even demonstrated (for all those people who pretend that Glomdoring -must- follow Viravain's fews and any other opinion is wrong) the Taint does exist and accepting it is perfectly valid IC.
Saran2005-08-20 14:08:57
hmm ok, but i still think they may either be going against what was planned for glomdoring or this is just an event focused on the commune

However, creating an argument about it is NOT perfectly valid IC, nor is publicly declaring that things are one way. Shikari is about the taint *not mattering* either way, so if you see it or if you don't, there is no difference. Who cares? And as such, why bother even discussing it?

Because we are losing people over it! Where have you been?
Bau2005-08-20 14:13:47
I highly doubt that is the only reason we are losing people.
Saran2005-08-20 14:14:31
perhaps those people should leave and make way for the people who are happy to play gloms the way that they seem to have been intended

There are many reasons we are losing people, but this is pertaining to this topic and the reason this topic seems to exist.
