I agree. *shrugs* Some of the Achaean ones were absurd though - Sentinels needed to be able to walk to every forest in Sapience and name every tree and every animal that was found there

Damn, and I thought Druids were harsh.

If they sit around stagnant, they don't deserve a guildfavor. If they need to have a path laid out for them, they don't deserve a guildfavor. If they can do something for themselves, which also benefits the spirit or strength of the guild, they deserve a guildfavor. It's as simple as that.

Hmm, I finished that in two days...
Bau2005-08-21 10:50:55
I agree that favours shouldn't have to be regulated like that. It's good to have paths, but you shouldn't be required to do them for favours. People can do other things which benefit the guild without following the tedious requirements some set out.
Geo requirements aren't that bad, except the power part. *pant*

Ours are mainly power donation and minimum skill requirements, though. 250 power, total, and gifted in Nihilism, I think. Oh, and level 50. Heh.

That power requirement was funny. On my second day in the new system (I'd left before it was put in and had to be entered when I came back) I'd got something like 1200 power - I love darkcall link node I pity the poor aide I asked to tally it for me.

Achaean Druids.. How I Loathe thee. I remember My Character. She had a grove and everything. She took their test. Said she would save a friend before she would save a tree. Bam outguilded. No more grove.. no more nothing. So she didn't rejoin anything after that she sat in her grove, even when someone else took it. Demeter even felt sorry for her and said she could pretend her (demeter's) was hers.
I knew what they wanted the answer to be duh.. but I thought I could logically give an answer that would explain the reason. Nope. Nothing other than save the bloody tree would suffice.
But my character here just doesn't really care about that stuff you know? She's spazzy and happy, doesn't really understand why people fight each other. She'll ask why 30 times before she'll understand something.
I just wanted to play a snugglebunny darnet

I had a similarly retarded problem with the Arcanists. I got Jancis as tutor in Achaea, and even though I made problems, she was forgiving enough to realise that I was a real novice and didn't have perfect answers to every stupid metaphor they threw at me.

sorcerers were the easiest i'd say. just aslong as you stay neutral

Dude, all you had to do was look at a damn map and list trees from room names and which mobs you saw. I could have finished it in about an hour if I had ever had to actually do it. And the test was rather lenient. I passed people all the time who only had 75% or less of the stuff, and even then, usually just had them try again later. Sentinels did NOT have hard reqs.
While I can't say I agree with everything Nessa is doing (if she seriously makes me do nutling and sapling, I'll scream), but she's been doing a LOT of work for the guild and gets nothing but complaints for it. I really admire her for that, even as much as I tend to bitch about random things at her.
Vix2005-08-22 01:01:52
Yeah, I agree. Sentinels were rather easy. I made a few mistakes on my interview but they were nice and corrected me.
Druids however... I spent four hours on that stinking interview and my tester thought I was too righteous or something and booted me.

I always felt horrid about having to outguild people, only ever did it twice, and both times sent them to the Druids to try there.

I had a Maldaathi for awhile, those evil knights.
It took me about 3 weeks to get out of novicehood, and had to complete an hour-long interview where I was forced to ask question after pointless question about the meaning of 'evil', and such things.
After that I was graduated but put on probation. To become a 'full' member you had to reach level 50 or something, compose a couple essays, know how to fight, write a bunch of letters, and a whole host of other things.
Needless to say, I didn't stay much longer.

...I would SO make fun of you if you were a nutling...
Jesters in achaea were the suck. Somehow I got stuck as a mime for 2 in-game years and it was HORRIBLE. You had to write.. around 3 performances using illusions that had to be funny.. and I'm not very good at writing idiotic crap performances., so I just left for the Bards. Bards were harsh with reqs.. but I still loved it..
I don't see what the big deal is with the essays.. I can write those essays in around an hour and if you really have to you could just ask someone on msn to write it.

You'll have to do it when you aren't Guildmaster anymore. (My that time be faaar away. *suck*)
At least Nessa said that.
Sylphas2005-08-22 01:39:50
Because you magically forgot everything you know when you lose a position? That's the retarded stuff I complain about. In general, she has great ideas, but the way she implements them needs work. Like having me run the politics branch, and starting the whole program when I know as much about it as you all do.
Bau2005-08-22 05:49:40
You guys are lucky you FOUND druid interviewers. In eleven years as a Druid, Wren couldn't find anyone to interview her.
Shiri2005-08-22 05:57:24
I got one the first time I asked. That was -awesome.- The 3 hour interview held up sooo many people over the years, damn.

Hmm, wonder if the Druids or the Sentinels had a worse pass/fail ratio on the interviews. I think the Sentinels had a 95% failure rate when I quit Achaea... I can get the numbers. I think it was on average, 100 new novices a year, 5 passed interviews, 1 became a full sentinel.

Our pass rate was like 30%.
