I'm in the market for games again, and I wanted to know from my Lusternian friends what games were out there that I should be getting. So any suggestions would be helpful.

What I own:
The Sims 2
Guild Wars
Vampire: Bloodlines
Black & White
The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind
Evil Genius
Diablo 2
Age of Empires
Dungeon Siege
Civilization 3

What I like:
Strategy
RPG
Simulation

My computer:
dial-up, so nothing online like Everquest or City of Heroes
768MB ram
80gb hardrive
256mb Radeon 9200 video card (I plan on upgrading this, any suggestions?)

Thanks in advance kiss.gif

I'm going old school and saying Civ.
Rauros2005-08-21 02:19:55
Nothing too old now. And I forgot to add Civ 3 to my list. *edits*

Seconded. Actually, if you don't mind really, really freaking old stuff, go way back about 13-15 years to Master of Magic and Master of Orion. (Master of Orion 3 is cruddy. Skip it.)

Bloodlines pwns all other vampire games.. but the ending sucks really really bad in my opinion. It's still worth it though. I normally don't play horror games, but I LOVED this game. wub.gif

DAGGERFALL!!!!! if you can find it, its been out of print for years

Dungeon Siege 2 just came out. I'm not normally into hack'n'slash games, but for some reason I really liked the original. I think it's the ability to pretty much re-write the game without needing a specific version of Microsoft's C++ compiler. *glares at Half-Life 2* Anyway, the 1 gig demo implies that there might be a slight storyline in the second one.

Fallout 2 was awesome in a really weird sort of way. It's now one of those two-games-for-ten-dollars deal at Wal-Mart.

Any of the Worms games, although they're better with multiple people.

Um... There are a few Final Fantasy games for the PC.

Ragnarok Online is a highly addictive MMORPG that you don't have to pay to play (if you play private servers). Plus, you can find a server that suits your desires (low rates if you want to work for your stuff, high rates if you just wanna blow through everything, RP-mandatory servers, etc). If you wanna know how to play Ragnarok Online private servers, send me a PM (it's kinda complicated). You can play on dial-up, I'm pretty sure.

Diablo 2 was fun, but too over run with hacks and dupes and stuff now.

Starcraft is still awesome (and owns Warcraft 3).

Wizardry 8 is a very nice RPG.
Neverwinter Nights also.
And if you like strategy, what are you doing not having Warcraft 3?
Kymir2005-08-23 01:38:54
Well, the new Elder Scrolls game, Oblivion, is in production...
Ashteru2005-08-23 03:20:37
Some suggestions from my side:

Every Elder Scrolls game
Vampire: Bloodlines as well (Jack is probably the COOLEST guy in any game ever, and in the end, his coolness factor gets multiplied by thousand)
Dawn of War
I liked Warcraft 3, but I always was owned because I'd rather slowly tech up and build massive towers then have 5 footsoldiers, 1 hero and two dwarfen guys in like one minute, But with the RW and Silmarillion mods, it owned.

I believe for Vampires and Elder Scrolls, you'll need a better Graphic card, though.
Alodia2005-08-23 03:37:27
Hmm Having Icewindale and Icewindale2 is sorta fun too. Together with Never Winter Nights and its 2 expansions, you can drool a bit with the diversity it offers.

I already own Vampire: Bloodlines and TES3: Morrowind. Both of them work fine on my video card. happy.gif But thanks anyway.

Thank you all for your replies.

Get NWN and its expansions, then download a few thousand campaign/skin/item/spell/class/race/mob modules off the net, and tinker with the spell files to do fun stuff. Record the fun from as many angles as possible, take clips and splice together into music video. Enjoy. This is how a game is meant to be played. :-p
