Well hello everyone,
I would like to seriously apologize to everyone, but most importantly to the administration about abusing the clan dues bug and more importantly not reporting it, but I would also like to set the record straight on what happened, what at least I was thinking (or not thinking as the case may be) at the time and what all I actually did and did not do. So before you all bite my head off, take a moment to read this thoroughly.
Kayde De'Unnero
To clear up the assumptions flying about on the other thread about this being a long-term sceme or a sceme at all, it was NOT.
A friend had told me about the aetolia bug about a week or more ago, I really can't recall the exact date, and I decided to see if you could set dues to a negative amount on Lusternia. I set the dues, and the people on the clan did a clan pay dues. Nothing happened, so I changed the dues back to Zero (0) and forgot about it, thinking that the test had failed and it wasn't doable on Lusterina, which was fine with me. My curiosity had been satisfied.
Last night (before the shrubbing occured on Aetolia by the way) I logged Kayde on and did an INV, and she had -3mil gold in her inv. I was like WTF? and said something on clan about it, and was going to bug it when Mell and Mitch figured out that it was a bug with the clan dues, and that somehow they had theirs set to -1mil. There were others in the clan when I logged on, and I still to this day do not know who it was that used the bug before I logged in with the - gold amount.
Mell agreed to test it, and she did clan pay dues, and my money amount went up to -4mil gold and she got 1mil gold in her inventory. At this point, I asked her and anyone else that had used the dues bug to give me the gold back so that i could get out of negative gold, and I was still going to report it.
Mell did bring me the 1mil gold she had gotten and gave it to me, reducing the amount back down to -3mil gold in my inv. Mitch then came up with the idea of me killing myself to get rid of the negative gold in my inv. I heartstopped and the gold dropped to the ground, but by the time I finished liching the gold on the ground at me was gone and since I was dead, I didn't see anyone pick it up, so I thought that it just disappeared. Having read the forums today, I realize that it didn't just disappear and that someone actually picked it up, but I did NOT know that at the time. (Sorry to whoever picked up the negative gold)
Well that was all well and good, but I was still going to report it, but Mitch and Revan and the others in the clan talked me into NOT reporting it, and it was then that I took leave of all of my senses and greed kicked in and I abused the bug with my alts. Kayde herself couldn't actually abuse the bug, being the clanhead and never actually being able to pay dues (as it's coded).
I take full responsibility for abusing this bug with my alts and for not reporting it when I FIRST logged in, or ever as the case may be. (When I was shrubbed I was still struggling with the idea of reporting it and turning myself in. Peer pressure is a nasty thing.)
So all of us that were on at the time abused the bug. After about 20mins or so, I thought about it, and I knew that we couldn't/wouldn't take back abusing the bug, but that I COULD and WOULD prevent anyone else in my clan from EVER abusing it again. I went through my entire clanlist and exempted everyone from dues permanantly, INCLUDING everyone that took park in abusing the bug.
Let me make this part perfectly clear, I never INTENDED to abuse this bug anymore that I had, and I took the steps to make sure than at least in my clan, noone else would either.
By the time I finished doing this, I was told that Kaervas had reported the bug on Lusternia, so I figured we would probably get busted.
Many of the people that abused the bug used the money. I used 175 credits of what I had taken, and bought credits with some of the remainder, with the intent of selling some of them again on credit market for about 3-4k per credit, taking a rather huge loss in gold to doso, in an effort to drop the overall credit prices in the game. Yes, amazingliy, I'm not a TOTALLY selfish person. I didn't have the time to do that though (see little plant in the corner).
I am saddened, but not surprised that some of the co-conspirators have lied on these forums to make themselves look less guilty and to make me look moreso.
Everything I've said here is availible to the administration through logs if they have them of our clantells. (I don't know if they do)
I am guilty of not listening to my initial gut feeling and reporting the bug. I didn't want to get my friends in trouble, or shrubbed. It ended up that they all did anyway, but in no way was I trying to exploit this bug initially, or ,when I did fall to greed and beggings of 'don't report it, I want to keep my 1 mil gold', for any time longer than this 1 time. I cannot speak for any of the others as to their intention of using this bug again, had they the chance or opertunity, but I took measures to make sure that they did NOT do it through my clan.
Note to Revan: I am really saddened that you would lie and say that you asked us to bug this, when you actually specifically asked us NOT to bug it. You are no better than I am here, and I don't like having my character, whatever it may be at this point, dragged even further through the mud because you wish to try to backpeddle what you did willingly wrong.
To the administration: Mell did infact give me the 1mil gold she recieved from the bug back to me, to try to get me out of negative gold. She was given 500k by Balthazare, and she gave it to Revan. If you look in the logs shortly after I logged in last night, shortly before I heartstopped the first time, you should be able to find the log of Mell giving me the 1 million gold.
I do not wish those that were innocent, or mostly innocent to suffer, but I also do not wish those that were just as guilty as me to get off less because of lying or untruths.
I would also really like to know (in a PM perhaps) who the first three people were that abused this bug, because as I said earlier, I do not know myself, and had they not used it, I would never have even thought about it.

Since some people are asking, the total amount that was taken was 16million over all of the characters that abused the bug. I personally had 4million, of which only 175 credits worth were actually used in a way as to be non-replacable.
Also, I guess since the bug has been fixed, I can explain how I believe the bug to have worked.
About a week or so ago, I set the clan dues to -1mil gold for about a half hour at most, I kept it there through the turn of a day. Then I set the dues back to zero gold and forgot about it.
I guess it was about a week that passed, maybe that was how it worked, the 6 day log-reset thing, but for some reason last night everyone that was in the guild at the time that I had set the dues to -1mil for a short time, had their dues set to -1mil gold. Someone (I still don't know who) used the bug before I logged in, and set me at -3 million gold. There was no gold in the clan account, so I don't know if it would have tried to take from there first or not.
That is basically how it worked. I don't know exactly WHY it worked, considering I had changed the clan dues back to zero shortly after I had changed them to negative, but apparently it did.
Since Kaervas apparently tested this as well, the admins might wish to look into his clan's dues settings to make sure that in a week's time this won't happen with his dues.

so i've read a few threads on here condeming me for doing what i know for a fact most people would have given the chance to make free money, either irl or in the game, and anyone who says they wouldn't doesn't know the humans well at all. but anyway.
for those of you saying all these nasty things about me, screw you.
i was the first to admit i screwed up, i got nailed to the wall for it by the administration, i don't contest i screwed up, and i don't ask for any special treatment or try to concoct some bs reasoning as to why i did said actions.
I am only human, people make mistakes, sorry it ruined the druid new skill coming out on time, but remeber me and kayde weren't the only ones who abused this bug, so don't try to put all the damn blame on us. others are to blame just as much as you people think we are.
i have had many people ask me if my characters will be returned to me, at this point and time i don't know, i doubt it, and am not expecting them to, i know if i was the administration of this game and some idiot pulled a stunt like this i would never give there characters back. but if they decide to great, i will see you all around, if not welp, it was fun while it lasted, have fun everyone druids don't get that new skill nerfed yet.

I'd just like everyone to realise that Kayde and Marcalo have tried to apologise here. There's no need for us players to punish them further. They're not "evil" or "bad", they were just the people involved. Even those of us who think we are above such actions may have found ourselves trying to justify their actions in a positive light, just as they tried to. The only time you will stop yourself before doing this is when you realise this kind of justifying is just what Us Humans Do.
So please. Don't give them any more crap.

Agreed, they have recieved their punishment and they have apologized for the crime against them.
Skyla2005-08-25 02:53:38
If I am on the wrong thread, I apologize, but this is a question for the admin...
Many of us had credits on the credit market for prices above the average, without knowledge of the blatant abuse that some players sadly continue to involve themselves in. The credits I had on market all sold, I presume they were bought by those who chose to thieve from the game we all adore. Because the credits were bought from "dirty gold", are we required to tell admin how many credits we had up, and our pricing?

There was a one-off announce that all credits purchased with the 'dirty gold' were legal transactions.
Skyla2005-08-25 02:56:17
Thanks Soll.. is it in the announce posts?
Soll2005-08-25 02:57:19
Nope. It was one of those '** This is an announce to the whole Basin **' things.

There was a message earlier that said if you legitamately put up credits and were uninvolved, you did nothing wrong and basically not to worry about it... I believe.
Narsrim2005-08-25 03:01:30
I'd just like to say that at the very least, I think it is worthwhile that Marcalo and Kayde did apologize and try to set the record straight. I look forward to seeing if other players will muster the courage to do so as well.
Rauros2005-08-25 08:57:22
I want Branwyn back.
Summer2005-08-25 10:11:35
And I want Kayde and Marcalo even if I didn't know them very well.
Unknown2005-08-25 10:27:10
Why would you want them back? I felt like beating Guido (though that could have been more psychosexual) when he abused alts. These people did worse.
Lisaera2005-08-25 11:36:37
The credits were taken back and put on the market again. This thread is closed as it has served its purpose for the creators.
