The Hall of Shame

Being inactive for so long, I wander into the realms just in time to be awashed by delicious tales of clan conspiracies, magical non-existent gold, the unbalancing of the Basin's economy and the end result -the decimation of half a city's populace(?). Now I know why I miss Lusternia so much! laugh.gif

But it was a mess, regardless of the juicy gossip, leaving a stink. So as an idea to deter such abuses from characters in the future,(even if in this instance the root was ooc in origin.), maybe a 'Hall of Shame' should be set up just like that in the old greek olympics. It could a physical place or simply a list. Those who committed high crimes but not permanently shrubbed would have their names permanently etched into the 'hall'. There could be in-game penalties for those who have their names etched, from disfavourable reactions from mobs, to paying more gold for goods when shopping. But the deterance I hope, as had been in greek olympics, was or is the clout of shame. A crack in a mirror cannot be repaired. That as these characters by their choices through their actions, disgraced the Basin and its people, then let their names be disgraced and they be known, sullied, distasteful to the tongue when uttered, eyes averted when seen. To be forever recognized as such.

*chuckle* But it would be a headache for the admins to actively catch and judge characters committing 'high crimes'. laugh.gif

I doubt it would take too much work to capture all those who commit "high crimes". We complain about 'em all the time here on the forums. wink.gif

I don't think this would function as a deterrent.

The worst punishment here is to be utterly forgotten.

Some peolpe would find a thrill in getting their name in the Hall of Shame; any kind of lasting recognition is something to aim for.

Avaer is right, forgetting them is the best way to go.
