What do you guys feel about a PK flag?

Pros:
People who don't want to PK, don't have to.


Cons:
We already have Grace and Innocence.
People will cheat!

What say you, gentle players?

1. Can be abused in so, so, soooo many ways.

2. Would be ultra-unrealistic.

3. Lusternia thrives on player vs. player conflict.

I dislike this idea, for most of the reasons listed above. The biggest one, as I'm a huge fan of something we call roleplaying, is that a PK flag makes no sense.

Before telling her to never post again, and to go away, perhaps we should take into account that not everyone understands the effect that would have on our game, and not everyone is a huge a-list fighter.

It's a girl. And you're right, she said it was a bad idea, then posted about it. We call that fence-sitting, usually indicitive of someone that lacks a strong argument. Will someone at least post -why- that's a bad idea? I'm trying to adjust some claims here.

Hey it was just a thought!

I was just skimming through some other threads, particularly the one about the "novice" who was just havesting or whatever. I've seen this is other games that have tons of combat. But most people don't like it or just play non-violent RP. RP isn't all about PK, you know. Its a part of it, but not the only thing.

In my humblest of opinions, said person shouldn't have been on Astral if they weren't prepared to be attacked and die. It was stated, early on, that it was hoped that us players would keep conflict off prime and onto other planes, including Astral.

I haven't a problem with a PK flag. I expect said PK flag to be meaningless when you're not on prime and during village influencing. I would like to note though that us human players are a pretty selfish, thoughtless, creative and cunning bunch and anything which can be abused will be abused. A PK flag can be used and abused (think grace/innocence during violent influencing - doesn't that just piss you off? Or the use of grace/innocence in Ethereal to run through the demesnes) and because us players can't seem to decide as a whole what is whorish and what isn't, I think its a bad idea to give us the oppertunity. Perhaps a PK flag would prevent you from going certain places with it up, such as villages in play, or places you're enemied to.

One of the many things we have to think about is that this is played as a -real- world. We can't have something that says "you can't kill me!". The sad reality of it is that people will sometimes be killed for meaningless reasons, and if you check the local news, you'll see it happen here as well, or overseas because there's a war, with non-combatants being killed.

I believe that making a PK flag would not only be abuseable, and have other effects, but it would hurt roleplaying as a whole.

Yes, PvP does fit this game. Like I said, I don't have a problem with it - it was just an idea I wanted to bounce around. I know I keep saying it, but I want people do know that I'm not just some newbie that is trying to come in and change the game.

Technically the Avenger and Karma handles that. If I really don't want people randomly jumping me, I can put in an Avenger request. If I really get hosed and have a lot of Karma, I can curse them as well.

Part of the fun is randomly getting jumped by the NBMYLA for walking on highways, anyway.

If you TRUELY want a non-combatant stay innocent, there is a gem-trader dude called Neuf around who is sill innocent last time I checked, and yet he's got a manse, I'd assume that was his at least *shrug*

Isn't innocence lost, though? I can't remember if you reject it when you kill mobs or it just goes away after a certian time?

You have to reject, I believe.

Its lost at gaining the 20-21 circle as far as I know, and regular grace only lasts about 15 minutes
