It is possible to get away from big groups easy. If you are summoned, you could just immediately spore out (I do that a lot). Celestines can trueheal/catacombs; necromancers can reflex ghost on demesne summon; there is always lichdom, etc.

And demesne summon is not area-wide. You can summon from area to area.

I tend to find they drop monoliths before trying to demesne summon. Am I the only one that encounters that?

Demesne wide is area-wide a lot of the time. I -think- it can be wider but I can't remember if it was changed along with demesne effects only hitting area-wide. And I don't know how you plan to get free with some of the groups I see people being summoned into. There's no way I can get out when being ganked by Ixchilgal, Athana, Daevos, Ixion, Torak and that one nihilist novice that was there at the time.

It still is not the same, since it can only be used on a person if he or she is in the demesne. Also, only the demesne owner can summon someone. You kill the owner or run him out of power; you end the summoning attempts. Last, it is possible to escape a group like the one you mentioned. It has been done before on more than one occasion.

Monolithed room, eyed, magelocked door, huge group? Good luck with that.
Shiri2005-08-27 04:26:02
Well, I'll concede that it's not an instakill in the strictest sense of the word, then. It's still more annoying to me than all of the above because I just can't escape it. I mean, THEORETICALLY I could kill Ixchilgal so he can't summon me into that huge group of Magnagorans...except that he's in a huge group of Magnagorans to begin with. And I don't know how I'm supposed to run out of power, I don't even have Escozul, and I can't break his demesne or anything. (And then have to deal with energylink?)

Question about possess: I'd heard it was ninja-nerfed so any action takes like 1 seconds out of the timer, to prevent some of the massive abuse that was going on with it?

It is still not an insta-kill. The mage could summon your entire group. Also, from what I remember Seren's were doing what you mentioned with wisp. I know, because I was the enchanter destroying the monoliths for them.

Anyhow, I am pointing out the misinformation that was originally posted. I was not trying to argue over whether the ability is overpowered or not.

Anything you try and do takes a second or more of equilibrium, I believe. So yeah, its very hard to do anything much while possessing someone.

Additionally, if you've got someone not totally useless to sleep, you've probably had to afflict them with a few hindering afflictions or make them exhausted to the point of falling asleep. The possessor then has to try and get their 4/5 actions done while navigating the effects of those afflictions. And remember 'stand', 'wake' or 'eat kombu' takes equilibrium.

Aside from the fact that I don't like taking over someone else's character, it just isn't very feasible to use unless you want to check their clans or make them say something amusing. I haven't come up with any use for it.
Tsakar2005-08-27 06:38:49
Before this possible change to possession, back when I'd first joined the geomancers and knew little to nothing about fighting, but in a short time he had me sleep he basically had me eat every kind of herb 10 times each, drink a vial(s) many times and a couple other things all in one huge spam of commands nearly at once, I was extremely thankful it was in the arena. So yeah I would definately have to vote for possession, unless its been changed to not be as debilitating
Unknown2005-08-27 06:43:50
It has been.
Thorgal2005-08-27 07:32:01
I voted inquisition, because it forces you to pray for salvation, whether you have lichdom or vitae, since it strips both.
Hajamin2005-08-27 07:55:40
When it comes to summon, you are forgetting that it is possible to get OVER 100% summon resistance... no I'm not telling you who or how.
Unknown2005-08-27 07:57:13
Standing outside the demesne? tongue.gif
Ceres2005-08-27 07:59:25
Going from Hajamin's past advice, that seems likely.
Hajamin2005-08-27 08:12:37
Ok, then there are two ways.
Ceres2005-08-27 08:15:32
Breaking the demesne?

1) Dont go in their demesne.

2) Kill them before they summon you. tongue.gif
Ceres2005-08-27 08:40:12
3) Bribe them with credits.

If someone starts a chasm before you ghost, does it go through after? Because I just serpent, and then it's a simple matter of who's got the faster Net connection -- and what a fine thing to decide life and death on!

Yup. It does.
