Skill Events Vs Regular Events

Back to The Polling Place.

After speaking with people on Irc, I been to look at all Ire Muds in the past two months. Lusternia is the only Ire mud that mostly had skill events and thus not enough playerbase was included into it. I believe after the druids get their skills, we should stop with new skills and fix the ones we have. Also, have more events like Kethuru which was awesome

Ps: This isn't towards anyone, just my thoughts

Redo this poll again after I get my libraries all up to snuff.

Shiro is going to be gone for a week, I have a few things I need to take care of and Lusternia is becoming boring, I will still be visiting the Forums though

Event which doesn't become one big bashing spree.
I don't know what exactly could it be then though.

Y'know, the players can do more to setup events for themselves. We can make our own fun

Here are some ideas:

===>Exploring Project Paradox<===

A group of people come together to discuss just what happened to the lost cities and debate, maybe even try to experiment to create the event. Think of it as a science conference. Maybe one can experiment with stuff.

==>The Ackleberry Artisan Festival<==
(AKA an Ackleberry Home Companion or 3 days of Festival, Arts, and Entertainment).

Have an in-game artisan event in memory of the lost commune. Have Marina recite her poetry. Have Tully do some juggling and jokes. Have some illusionists create fireworks and illusions, or maybe enhancing the plays. Get a bunch of people drunk and have ghost stories. Have some cooks cater the event, and artists do sketches. Have it covered live by members of the city channels broadcasting it.

==>Furrikin Festival<==

Have all the Furrikin's have a parade on the main highways, encouraging racial pride.

==>Kidnapping!<==

Have some major player get kidnapped and then do a ransom or search for that character, or maybe some sort of investigation and research. (You might need to coordinate this OOC with the victim, to make sure it doesn't fall flat).

Remember, players can make their own fun.

If you've got plot ideas, there's always the plots board.

I was just making the point that the Players can all do stuff themselves. While the in-game events are fun, all of what I suggested can be coordinated without bugging a single deity.

I'm going to take a wild guess here... but perhaps we've had so many "skill" events, compared to the other games, because... well we make more skills for you than they do?
Lisaera2005-08-27 02:22:36
Hey if you guys want us to stop making so many new skills and introducing them via cool events, I am totally fine with that, because it means a whole lot less work for us.
Daevos2005-08-27 02:25:48
I want to see Pureblade and Axelord fixed, all other considerations are secondary to me.
Saran2005-08-27 02:29:06
meh it would be interesting to have non-skill events, but the skills introduced give more diversity to the characters.

If Lusternia were to run it's business based off of SHIRO'S beliefs and opinions, we'd be in one HELL of a mess.

No offense, Shiro. But, seriously, shut up. tongue.gif They're doing something called REACHING STATUS QUO - MOST (short of like, what, telekenisis?) of these skills were intended to be in Lusternia, back when it was just a very large stack of papers.

As you were, Divine. Work your sweat shops. Pump out those skillsets. You heard me - BACK TO WORK. smile.gif

cheers.gif Okay, one beer break.

I'm not talking about fixing skills or envoy reports, those are fine with me and most I like. biggrin.gif However, the skill events are sometimes fun, but mostly falls under one archtype. All I ask and my poll asks, can we have events that don't carry new skills in them

You win the thread, although trying to coordinate a player-run RP is easier said than done. Sylphas, Nyla, Vesar and myself tried to do one at a point... We all met on AIM one night, got some ideas, ran out of ideas, went to bed. We never met again afterwards. xD
Lisaera2005-08-27 02:43:19
We do.

Next question?

I based this poll over a two month period and looked at two months in each Ire Mud. Lusternia is the only one who mostly focuses on SKills and the events are small compare to the other Ire Muds. I wish Lusternia become better, that's why I want to know what the other players think

Shiro, I think, is just sad that, he has his cake and ate it, and is getting irritated that because he already got and ate his piece of cake, doesn't want to sit and watch everyone else who's getting their piece of cake in the future (that same piece of cake he got quite a while ago) get and eat theirs.

In other words, what are you posting on the forums for? Don't you have a skillset to be coding? >.> What are we PAYING you for, anyway?1

As I said, Estarra and the Lusty Crew (I love it! LOVE IT!) are still bringing Lusternia up to it's predestined form. Things like Glomdoring, a non-skillset event, were side-tracks because of the playerbase.

I mean, what do you want out of a "regular event"? Moghedu? Where nobody ACTUALLY wins? Skillset events are events. Be glad we're getting something. As time wears on, we'll see events of different types. But right now, it's obvious Estarra is trying to please a group of players who feel neglected. So leave Her and the rest of the L.C. alone. tongue.gif
Lisaera2005-08-27 02:51:37
You're not.

Since 10 people agree that we should have more non skill events after the Druid skill, I don't need to respond to you, Erion tongue.gif
