I'd like to suggest two new bashing areas for Celest and Serenwilde. Each specific area will be oriented towards their specific beliefs so it would be feasible for them to defend. Furthermore, each will be filled with something nasty they can validate killing (super weevils?). The best part is that at the bottom level of this bashing area, there should be these chains that you pull... and it seals off any access from the top so no one except Serenwilde or Celest can enter because we'll have rifts built there.
Sound ridiculous? That's how the Catacombs currently work. This entire time, I was under the impression it was some bug with the area. Incorrect Narsrim! You can actually seal the f-ing place down on the bottom level so no one else can get down there (and it doesn't reset). The only access there at the moment is through the Ur'guard Guildhall which has a rift in it.

that is so lame. but it would be cool if we had a place for like level 50 cus i'm really stuck
Unknown2005-08-27 02:32:06
We could have an off-plane influencing area. With catacomb-level influencers walking around and agressively influencing any intruders. Muahahaha.

Level 50 is easy. Inner Sea, water, krokani/aslaran, moose....

Get back on topic people.

Of course most influencers would die though. Unless those things are weaker than Miakoda-level mobs (Who I still can't influence, but I'm close!) it'll be rough.. but rough is good. I'm dominating Tosha as it is, but that's probably thanks to higher equilibrium. Without it I'd be guzzling too much bromide .
I'm all for a higher influencing area (That has roleplay implications. Maybe a BIG LIBRARY). Or re-code the level of influence mobs versus combat mobs so certain denizens have a stronger mind.
Catacombs thing does sound lame though. I think it's stupid when an organization hoards an area, but relentlessly destroys it anyway. It's greedy.

Celest could have that old Merian city below the water that the first vernal god was raised from.
You could give serenwilde umm... ooh, the original area where the soulless were found within the soil.

Just to clarify to anyone confused:
The only place decent to bash at higher levels is inaccessible except by using the rift in the Ur'guard guildhall. The entire time people complained about Magnagora slaying anyone down there, the general response from them was "We don't own the Catacombs, you could kill us here too." That might be feasible IF WE COULD GET DOWN THERE.

or to tie in with the new stuff. perhaps the basement of a library could uncover a arena infested with good fun monsters
Gwylifar2005-08-27 02:57:23
I always hoped that they were going to address that. We'd been talking about how Astral was "cities only" (sometimes for the bogus historical reasons, but mostly for the reasons of them having better access) and that someday they might provide hunting on Prime a little more commune-focused (why everyone thinks that's a hard subject befuddles me -- is it so hard to figure out serious hunting options exist in the wilderness?).
Instead, they made an area that filled the gap and then practically handed it to the one organization that needed it least. I kept thinking maybe others were coming, but it's been a while and the closest they got is a couple dozen gorgogs which everyone has pretty well equal reason to hunt. There was enough positive feedback already without handing Magnagora free gifts, too. And Magnagora should have been the loudest complainers about it if you believe their propoganda since they're always all about how they earn everything they get, but I never heard one peep of objection to having this handed to them with parsley.
I still hope they do have something planned. I've been on the builder side of things enough to know that sometimes projects don't come out in the order you intended for reasons no one can predict or control. Maybe it's just bad luck. Maybe it's still coming. Sure hope so.

The problem with high-level hunting areas on prime is that you cannot conglutinate.
Unknown2005-08-27 03:02:17
The ur'guard have major ties to the ancient Ur'dead and do not complain about us having a rift inside the catacombs. You can go the old way, kill orcs and give them to Korngar
Unknown2005-08-27 03:03:03
Hidden vally, LHGesque, which can be sealed off from the entrance to the valley. Heh.

We got tons of reasons to have off-Prime combat to make up for that. I don't like the conglutinate excuse since people stopped giving a damn whether they died on Astral or not because they'd make it up later with ease. That and any people around level 50 with a few defensive trans skills could clean up and die with a shrug of the shoulders.
Wonder what influence would be like with critical hits...

As always, you have no idea what you are talking about Shiro. Big suprise.
Once in the Ethereal part, all of the exits at the Absymal stairwell are closed because the chains on the bottom level have been pulled in a specific order to close them. This prevents anyone who does not have access to the Magnagora rift to get down to the bottom (in case you didn't notice, this is long after the orc part).
Daevos2005-08-27 03:37:00
Really, Narsrim it is you who has no idea what he is talking about. The second level is not sealed off, and it is completely possible to do the whole quest to get to the lowest level. But I doubt your complaint is really about bashing since there are things to bash on the first and second levels, and that's if we were inclined to let you do that in peace. So what is your complaint really about?

That Merian city existed outside of the Basin, so no.
And the Soulless weren't found in the soil, some were sealed into the earth. Hence the original druids/wiccans having to heal the Fae. Either way, that place also exists outside the Basin.

Kharvik and Thorgal must not know it either Daevos, as I've talked to both about this entire ordeal to be sure.

Oh yes, because you had SOOOOOOO much trouble killing me in the catacombs the only time I went in there to bash in recent memory. Stop being pathetically whiny, KTHXBYE.
And if you actually knew the Catacombs you would be able to get to the bottom too, because when Magnagora first worked its way down there, all the doors were closed off back then and we somehow managed it, even with you being completely retarded.
