It forces them onto your allies list, and to get them off you have to REJECT

Ah..I see. I have a trigger against love, but not lust.

Kariol was there too?Â
I thought he came when you just died...
And you didn't even attack me if I remember right.

I was attacking Kariol.
Probably a mistake, since he's harder to kill.

I thought blackout was fixed..from the log the maiden had you blacked out 3-4 times almost right off.
Ceres2005-08-27 22:03:36
The handmaiden's always been rather silly in that regard.
Passive blackout in any form is - remember my post when dreamweaving came out?

Rejecting is a great way to shut down a druid. 4 seconds base recovery time, during which the demense might be hitting, but we're not, which means you have 4 seconds to heal and cure. Add protection and shielding...

fighting celestines is all about surviving the first 30 or so seconds of combat when they are most lethal.
any decent celestine fighter will have fool (masks the type of tarot cards that are flung for 2 rounds of flinging or thereabouts) and enigma (allows them to throw 2 cards at once of 3 or so flings)
They will also have their angel on wrath (angel hits with 2 afflictions at a time for 5 hits or so). with amaru you also have to watch his handmaiden given that its crazily overpowered.
Make sure quicksilver is up as a defence is important like amaru said, and its important to sip it again once its stripped, or sip it again straight after you get aeoned.
Secondly, make sure your mana is kept up at all costs, whenyou start to get close to half, shieldwhore. Infact, nothing is more infuriating to a celestine than if you shieldwhore for the first bit.
Ideally, a celestine will hit you with 2 masked tarots, and 2 angel afflictions 3 or so times in a row, which if you let them do that, you're letting the brunt of their offence hit you, and youll probably die in the first 30 seconds.
personally, I shield after each doubletarot (after curing it) and shield after every angel. let them evoke void (wasting an EQ on you) and then let the angel hit you and shield again. Once you control their offence hitting you (and thusly wearing it out) and they are back to single tarots and single angel afflictions, then you start to fight them.
with the handmaiden, you should be shielding after every blackout, and if he has a soulless on you, them you should tumble rooms each time it blacks you out. Eventually he'll either mess your healing up (get better curing is the answer here) or he'll get frustrated with your shieldwhoring and tumblewhoring, that he'll give up or offer to duel you without his handmaiden (which is overpowered anyway, I'd pay 2k cr for an artifact like the handmaiden)
Most celestines will use angel kneel + angel paralyse in their first few combos (kneel gives stun, delaying ones focus body until they are unstunned)
Hope that helped a bit, the rest is just experience and curing

Hehe, wow, I knew I would get some help here!
Okay, I'll remember those advices, and I can use nearly the same for Nihilists, yes?
And again, thank you for all your tips, especially Murphys. ^^

Murphy2005-08-28 02:00:05
with nihilists you have to watch again being aeoned and crucified, you also have to watch their damage combo (omen sensitivity torture)
Revan2005-08-28 02:04:19
Another trick you could try is disloyalty. Won't work against Amaru, since he's got CharismaticAura (which really needs to get the boot), but in general, it's useful against people with pets.

Nihilists you need to watch out for sting; every 8 seconds you'll get a masked affliction from them. Also, if a demon vomits on you, sip quicksilver and diagnose immediately, chances are that you either just got scabies and will soon get ectoplasmed (Not much, but if they hit you with epilepsy from Baalphegar too..) or if they're a tarot user, they just stripped quicksilver and are about to aeon you. Those with hexes can't aeon, but can just fling hexes constantly, doublewhammied. Two masked afflictions is not something to be sniffed at. Sometimes you won't even notice them and won't diagnose, get the line from Narsrim and set up a big echo to diagnose on that line, save yourself a lot of trouble.

Well Murphy just explained most of my combat stradegy except against Ashteru i didnt need Absolve so i just did judgement.
Murphy2005-08-28 07:22:52
heh, sorry to all you celestines who might feel like their secrets have been revealed.
Also, against celestines you can shieldwhore to avoid inquisition, or just darkchant ghost

But, but..
Inquisition is wildly overpowered..
I feel swindled!
Murphy2005-08-28 13:22:29
it is overpowered, it causes the person to do nothing at all but shield, and if he messes it up (like you evoke void JUST before your angel hits with stun-paralyse) then its a problem.
Shamarah2005-08-28 13:31:41
Against Nihilists, you also want to watch out for bindings, as they have to have you bound for things like wrack, and their demon can also give passive entanglement (shackles).
Murphy2005-08-28 13:33:07
yeh. trigger that demon message to stand, to check if it webbed you.
I hate that passive web thing, its quite annoying

Stun/paralyse is crap.
The stun is one second, and paralysis is a joke at trans discipline.
I tend to use either stupidity or hallucinations/hypochondria/sensitivity
Murphy2005-08-28 14:46:16
I use stun paralyse all the time. Its a good combo to get with aeon, or another tarot affliction because the stun delays the paralysis focusbody. you could always pennyroyal stack them
