That's the thing with Lusternia.
There are tricks or tactics that will kill anyone.
In Achaea, you had a nice little rock/paper/scissors thing going on, which meant that no one person could defeat everyone.

Eiru's easily a top tier fighter. I'm quite sure there are many who would agree that he deserves the top spot just as much as you, Amaru.
Amaru2005-08-29 12:06:21
He can't beat me, so obviously not.
Top means top.
Top means top.
Gorokan2005-08-29 12:51:48
Shieldstun just simply should not be in a skillset that's available to all classes. Check start of thread for one example why.
Sylphas2005-08-29 12:58:29
Oh, really? I'm still used to 400 back when Achaean rankings didn't reset and they actually meant more than they did now. When they reset each month, yes, it's easier to remain on top forever, but at least you have a history of who the other person has fought, to judge by at least a little bit. A history of 4 people or something is worthless, most times.
Amaru2005-08-29 13:03:52
I agree entirely.
Thorgal2005-08-29 14:35:11
I say we remove combat rankings entirely, and replace it by a dueling system, using a 6 room arena on prime. The conditions would be identical to a normal duel, except the outcome gets tracked, and would never reset. In your honours would appear:
He has fought 23 duels, 10 losses and 13 wins.
Much more badass and realistic! That way it's easy to judge how much of a fighter someone is. Arena combat is a crappy measurement. Hitting vitae would count as a death, if you don't have vitae up, you get automatically ressurrected by the arena magics, liching would obviously not count as a death.
It would also be unique in IRE history, we're all for uniqueness!

Nice exp!
Ashteru2005-08-29 15:01:48
6 rooms? Ever thought about Mages and Druids when you had that Idea? I wouldn't fight with a demesne smaller than ten rooms, six rooms is...tiny.
Soll2005-08-29 15:04:38
Nah. 6 rooms means it's easy to demesne the whole place, which means they'll always be in your demesne. Larger means you use more power to demesne, which means less power to fight with. 6 rooms is very good for mages/druids.

Hajamin is the perfect example. I try to calmly and politely inform him that he is doing irrevocable harm to the city, and he responds by getting the last word in, disappearing from mortal view then muting me.
Edit:
'Im better than u stfu bai lol' can be funny, but not when it's from someone supposedly respected like that.

I hope you are joking and Hajamin did not really say, 'Im better than u stfu bai lol'.
As for duels on Prime, well, people are not sparring you now because of fear to lose combat rankings and defs, and now you are asking them to lose xp as well and have their losses recorded permanently on their honour lines? Hehe, good luck finding an opponent.
Amaru2005-08-29 15:09:44
Nah I'd hate to have anything like that permanently on my honours. I like the idea of real-gritty-combat deciding the combat rankings though, rather than pansy arena spars. Maybe have a ranking based on real kills, I think Imperian has one.
Thorgal2005-08-29 16:05:11
Everyone loved the original Achaean combat rankings, because they were permanent, and thus reflecting true combat value...then some retards started abusing and exploiting it. Permanency is the key!
Sylphas2005-08-29 20:12:58
-nod- I wasn't the best combatant, by far, but I was happy being solidly around 200, and seeing how I progressed from weak fighters to stronger ones. Now, I don't even bother joining, it's not worth the effort.

I have little modesty because I find male IRE players to be, almost without a fault (and I excuse present company, as well as those who know me as a friend), such imbeciles that all sense of tact is lost on them, and all they acknowledge is a sharp insult or being killed. I assure you, if IRE were filled with reasonable, competent, post-teen gentlemen - I would be a different man entirely.

Now this is something I can reply to and yeah I totally agree.
