I am fully conscious in every dream I have. I always know when I am dreaming, and I use that knowledge to my advantage. Unfortunately, knowing something is a dream does not necessarily mean that I am immune to nightmares. Also, going against the grain of a dream can cause me to wake up feeling like I have not slept at all.
Geb, get this book, Carlos Casteneda's Art of Dreaming or Book of Dreams or something that has dreams in the title by him. It will be really helpful to you trust me.... check it out... if I am wrong you wasted what 3.99 so check it out

That's called lucid dreaming. You can actually take control of the dream with enough practice.

There are some dreams that I have too that it felt so real that I've been living in the dream world than the real world.
One particular dream I had was going to college and it kinda felt so real... when I was awaked by some noice and check I was still in my bedroom, I check the watch and saw I was damn late for school, 4 hours late.
Had to make an alibi the next day saying I didn't feel well and bugged my dad (who was the only parent around since mom is away in the country side) to make a fake excuse letter and they fall for it

I wanted to know how many others lucid dream. I have taken control of my dreams plenty of times, but doing that tires me out if I try to change things too drastically. Also, the nightmare part is kind of a special case. I will give an example.
I had a dream where I am in a living room talking to 3 people. One is a guy that was from West Africa and worked for me when I was in the Navy. Another was a teenage friend that never left home, but at least did not get himself put in prison or killed like many of my other old friends. The last was my stepfather, of whom I have never had a good relationship with. Anyhow, I decide to just blurt out that it is all a dream (Made no sense we were all in the same room anyhow). Right after I said that, I saw a shadow out of the corner of my eye and felt a cold embrace that froze my body. I then heard a voice whisper into my ear, "What do you know about dreams?"
I knew I was dreaming, but right at that moment I wanted to wake up right then. What made it worse was that I couldn’t. Normally I could wake up whenever I wanted, but at that moment I was stuck in some type of long process of trying to wake up, and feeling whatever was behind me trying to saw my spine. For some reason, knowing it was a dream made it seem even more real and dangerous than if I had not known.
I had the dream about 10 years ago. I told An old friend of mine from college who is into a lot of spiritualistic stuff, and he said he would have been scared too.

Lucid dreams can be harder to wake up from because you sort of put more of yourself into them I guess. I don't get them often but I've had a few, and the first did freak me out too.

I think I need to congratulate Geb on one of the most interesting things in the bits of the thread I read.

Because Geb is cool like that.
And on the dream note.. I think I've stopped dreaming in text! Yay!

I used to do that, great, great fun. Then I pretty much stopped remembering my dreams, now I pretty much only dream when mostly asleep in class.
Arix2006-10-12 02:01:07
bowling class?
Joli2006-10-12 02:15:10
Yes, I have bowling class. Wish I hadn't taken it. Even though it's easy it's so hard to drag my butt out of my room, find my ride, and go.
Shiri2006-10-12 02:29:47
Now I want to drag up that old dreams thread.

The best thing you can do to help you remember your dreams (which provides interesting insight in and of itself) is to write them down immediately upon waking. Write down as much as you can remember and then when you go back and read it later you'll be able to recall those parts. This also helps assist in better lucid dreaming.
I've had a few lucid dreams but I really don't like them. In almost every lucid dream I've had I end up choosing to be violent. Like the last one I had, the moment I realised I was dreaming I was in a classroom with seperate desks for each student. To prove to myself I was dreaming I crawled (everytime I realise I'm dreaming I lose most of ability to move) over the desks to this one kid in particular and drove a pencil through his forehead. I did the same thing to as many other people as I could and then I woke up. Quite unpleasant.

Hum..
I have an incredibly strong desire to make my own wine. It just so happens that I find wine utterly disgusting.
I make tiny, colorful stars out of ribbon and I've got several thousand stashed in jars around my room.
and... -drumroll- my oven is broken.
EDIT: On the topic of lucid dreaming.. it's only happened once, and directly after someone told me that such a thing did indeed exist. I ended up rowing a box down my driveway, down a waterfall of sand, and was promptly attacked by a helicopter.

Yini let her whale off its leash and it chased me all down the street as well.
