I think it would be cool if knights could use bows and arrow. I believe it would really help in the Rp aspect. I
Bows and arrows should be more geared toward wounding and speed than power if they where every created, and the damage and wounding should be determined by dex more so than by strength, i believe that would also help smaller races who choose to become warriors.
Hect this might be a little far pitched but maybe even a bow and arrow specialization.

This has been brought up so many times. And, it will come when it comes if it comes someday. Maybe.
We'll see.
We'll see.

No damn it no, no no no no! If there were bows and arrows spec for warriors, it'd just mean isntead of people running in and dying, we're sit back shielding and hoping to get shots off at the other side. Just like Achaea, it's just annoying. If you want ranged combat go Mage/Drood, Cugels/Staffs do more damage then bows and are better. There's also the wiccans with the Terror/whatchamacallit covens. We dont need more ranged combat, warriors should be specialized around running in and tanking damage, with swords flying, the only thing warriors might get as a ranged specialization would be throwing daggers, which is still a no because warriors dont need ranged weapons.
In summary, Warriors with ranged weapons would be EVIL!

Ranged weapons need to start appearing in Lusternia. It's dynamic in so many ways, with teleports and summonings, planes etc., but surprisingly limited in terms of combat dynamism.
Unknown2005-08-29 12:18:59
We do have ranged weapons, they're called Staffs n Cudgels and shoot big lots of crap for 10 rooms, just like bows but more damage, less afflictions.
Amaru2005-08-29 12:21:35
But dodging arrows in Achaea was fun!
Yrael2005-08-29 12:21:50
I'd sort of like to see an Imperian style Idrasi/Saboteur guild, meself, just independant of the cities, their power abilities requiring any power; allowing them to join cities. heh.

So they'd be rogues, and Lusternia policy on Rogues? Screw em!
But why does everyone feel the need for bows n arrows, mages/droods are alot better with their staffs/cudgels anyway, i meant they're cooler as well, and cost less. Besides, do you really think that a warrior in full/half plate really has the movement to draw a bow and shoot it accuratly? No, Bad bows BAD!

Finally, TWIRL CUDGEL will create a shield that will offer some protection against projectile attacks.

Think of the Rp aspect, a warrior with bow and arrows would be great Rping i mean come on have you ever seen a movie with warriors that don't use bows and arrows (Movies based in that time period i mean).
I think Tenqual just fears warriors.

Remember, we're still missing an entire archetype. I believe Estarra's always said that there were supposed to be 4 archetypes in each city, so I imagine we'd have on for the commune, too. Not sure on that list bit.
So, wait until we're up to speed, please. As in, where the design docs say.

I don't think it makes sense to say "we can't have ranged combat, it'll suck!" That horse left the barn during closed beta and hasn't been seen since. A few archers aren't going to make a dent in demesne-hell.
Shamarah2005-08-29 20:18:28
There's numerous hints that there will be some sort of ranged combat, including the twirl cudgel ability and the original use of the slyph...

Join Deepnight, buy a clan, and buy my throwing daggers. You're set.

Warriors should get ranged weapons when all the Furrikin warriors of Ackleberry come back, and are using them.

Let me put it this way, we are not short on projects.
