So... why didn't you trueheal after unstunned? Couldn't? Just curious.
Amaru2005-08-30 11:44:43
Trueheal doesn't cure cruxifiction. And Yrael, by semi-roleplaying I mean people like Guido who claim to be devout RPers but aren't. And you are crazy, I don't 'die sometimes'. I die when the odds are 5 to 1 and they get lucky, or when my comp crashes. You can't just assume everyone 'dies sometimes'. That's you.
Yrael2005-08-30 11:47:49
Gee, Amaru, you think I die often? I never would have noticed. If you'd like to take a look, I admit it in my last post, as well. I'm too lazy to use normal reply, so I won't quote.

Can we please get back to the topic on hand, or can a mod close this thread since it's being hijacked so much? Riding does need an overhaul since only skills like fly and Trample I use with my pegasus. However, I don't see how you can say trample is overpowered when you must stay prone and how using crucify/sacifrice/trample is anyway overpowered when it takes 3 near trans people of necromancy and riding to do it.
Edit: Using trample in a geomancer demense, will bring the same complaint as using it with Crucify and Sacifrice

Amaru2005-08-30 12:08:54
I don't think trample is overpowered at all. I just think it's a stupid ability. I'd prefer trample to do a different kind of affliction, like mangling up a leg and causing severe bleeding - anything but how it is now. Actually I have a billion ideas, but I doubt anyone would pay them any notice. Alas.
Unknown2005-08-30 12:09:53
If you don't totally make the skill useless like most people have tried on this thread, I would be glad to hear your ideas on this situation.

I just explained the whole "prone" thing, Shiro. Swarm/Lodestone/Jellies/PossiblyTsunamiAsWell. Also, it requires two near-trans necromancy people, and one trans riding person to do it. That's it. Instant death.

That situation works best in team combat, not one on one. The problem here is, using trample while in team combat is considered overpowered when it was nerfed awhile again. I still haven't seen one bit of information proving trample is overpowered, besides the common sense Crucify leaves you on a cross and not exactly on the ground to be trampled.
edit: So, it takes nearly 900 credits for three people to pull off an instant kill on somone and that's wrong, shiri??
Yrael2005-08-30 12:14:01
When you're trampled by a horse normally, you've a good chance to, er, die. Heh.
Even if this is a world where I can take multiple hits with a broadsword to my head and still perform complex magical rituals involving the draining of the very essence of a person, slowing their mental functions, then tear their soul from their body with incredibly involved spells to feed to extraplanar beings by transmitting the essence through a pre-woven planar conduit.

Ummmm. So if I buy 900 credits, give 300 to two friends, we should be able to instakill -anyone- with no chance to escape, right?
And you have seen evidence, I just gave you it. Then you ignored it. Again.
Unknown2005-08-30 12:18:14
So using trample in a demense is alright, but using trample with crucify is wrong?
Amaru2005-08-30 12:18:20
Riding's one-ability-fits-all skill (trample) just needs throwing out. Replace it with loads of individual abilities, whether it's the horse ramming, kicking, charging - anything. It just needs more variety and more potential.
Thorgal2005-08-30 12:19:35
This scenario keeps repeating itself, the masters of cheap tricks complaining when they get smacked by a cheap trick themself..
If you change crucify/trample/sacrifice, then also change:
* hangedman/trueheal/soulless
* trample/trueheal/soulless
* shieldstun/trueheal/soulless
* pooka/cannibalize/toadcurse
* amissio/amissio/absolve
* pooka focus spirit
* pooka trueheal
* pooka empty phlegmatic
* flow/void/rage
* doublewhammy instalock
* pinleg/niricol
* barrier/chasm
* etc..
I think you get the point, whining and complaining about other people's cheap tricks but whoring your own cheap tricks all the time, even Terenas won't spar you anymore, in fact, no one wants to spar either of you.
Not that I would mind banning all cheap tricks from the Basin, including crucify/trample/sacrifice, because it really is cheap, but so is trueheal and pooka.
And don't come to me with unavoidable, since you get a 100% chance of using RESTORE, which effectively stops the instakill. If people have to fiddle around for 30 seconds before being able to pull it off, it's hardly an instakill anymore is it?

Agreed, trample and fly are the only two useful skills that exist in Riding right now.

'Cheap tricks' are just effective combos and combat is full of them. There is a difference between good combos and ridiculous combos. You have no eye for fine distinctions, Thorgal!
Thorgal2005-08-30 12:23:55
Exactly Shiro, it's not feasible.
Unknown2005-08-30 12:24:00
All the combos he mentioned were cheap ways to kill people, except for the trample/crucify/sacifrice combo

That's why I call you a hypocrit.
Unless you're realizing something/trueheal/soulless is just as cheap?
Unknown2005-08-30 12:27:06
There's always going to be ways to instantly kill someone, and people are going to scream bloody murder. I don't see how the coders could change this, unless they did a complete overhaul of the current combat system in Lusternia. Until then, we have the amissio amisso absolve for the celestines, the crucify/trample/sacifrice for the Magnagoras and the force canablize and toad curse for the serenwildes.
