well technically speaking Miakoda herself says
that White Hart can never truly die.
maybe he just goes away on holidays til his body regens?

When a Fae's body is destroyed, it's spirit still lives on. When the Fae are bound by Night, they're kind of unliving bodies, and their souls are imprisoned there, while the shadows control their movement.
As to Hart, his soul just kinna floats around. If all deer/harts/stags were killed, Hart would probably die.
EDIT: By this, I mean extinct.

Actually, Avatars are weak. They're simply group-soul of Redcaps/Slaugh/Barghest/Mothers/Maidens/Crones. At least, that's how I've always seen it. Something similiar to it, anyway. They aren't half-formed Elder Gods. They're just big mofo Nature Spirits.  But, the difference is, half-formed can die, Nature Spirits, well, they can die, but it'd take complete and total devestation of Nature to kill 'em.

I know in their titles it says first of the (intert fae here) But I've always thought of the Avatar's as BEING Mother Moon, the three of them together are all she is. As for a collection of naturey things, ya the new Elder wars book says that's what it is but I'm still skeptical, I think of Mother Moon as differany from hart, because there are stags running around in the forests, the only maidens/mothers/crones are following Moondancers. Thought they DO come from somewhere, and that place should be faethorn, but they arn't there, maybe because they are tied closer to Mother Moon, maybe they are somewhere else *shrug*
Laysus2005-08-30 16:30:48
Avatars are aspects of Mother Moon/Night. Each one is part of Moon/Night, therefore rather strong, really.

I don't think you can actually kill White Hart, unless you send Crow to do it.

Word on the forums is it's at least theoretically possible. But the only time he's died so far it was to Viravain/Kethuru. Miakoda notwithstanding, he was pretty thoroughly dead. I had everything ready to raise him within an hour, though -- except for the phase of the moon. Can't help that.
Ceres2005-08-30 17:16:01
I misread Gwylifar as Gwyllgi for a moment.
Edit: And Narsrim, you regain before he hits?!

But Narsrim (maybe it was Tuek?) got a huge group together, and tried to kill Crow. They basically set up a Glomdoring gauntlet. Once Crow broke into a murder, they lost track of him. A group found him in the Razines and killed it off. He was back about an hour later.
And the kethuru event, like the Tainted Fae event, is a bit wierd.
Gwylifar2005-08-30 17:23:55
I heard that they never actually killed all of the murder.

See, no one's really sure. Iunno myself. I guess we may never know, since Hart's the only one that CAN be killed, and the thought of Glomdoring successfully killing Him is like Kalo soloing Lhiannan.

I'd like to clarify as some people (Thorgal, specifically) are just dying to extrapolate my intent.
The Avatars, unlike the Supernals and Demon Lords, are weaker, but exist in home territory. As a result, their defenses can be fortified with commune guards, totems, champions (daughters of night, ladies of silvery light), etc. The area around them cannot be melded by an opposing mage or druid. Nexus powers (trees attacking, nexus surge) make guards/terrain additionally more powerful.
Offensively, the Avatars are powerful... extemely powerful. Even if they did not call out for help, it would take an army to mow one down as it stands given that you have to wade through guards and totems (a nasty combination) on top of them dealing as much damage as Gorgulu.
This has nothing to do with me killing one solo (I've already done that). It has to do with the fact that this added bonus of them calling out (which is a recent change, relatively) makes it damn near impossible to sneak-attack one they already have VARIOUS amounts of defenses that ensure they should never die.
Furthermore, this is a win-win situation for me. If the Avatars are changed, I can likely kill a Night Avatar because Glomdoring isn't very careful about watching them. On the other hand if the situation remains as it is, I can rest assured that no one will ever kill a Moon Avatar as they are far better guarded, have totems, etc. I don't see how I could be all that bias given this.
